Hi Dee what main line are you using and hook length? And what size rod you using? I'm hoping to come to Ireland next year so have you got any tips where to go. It will be my first trip. Lovely net of fish 🐟.
Hello Adrian. Reel loaded with 0.08mm braid. For wild Irish lakes in summer I usually use hooklengths 0.15mm or 0.17 with hook size from 12 up to 16 mainly. Depends on the brand of the hook. My rod here is Daiwa Tournament Feeder Rod 12ft. This kind of rod covers a lot of situations in summer when you don’t have to cast very far. I usually use it up to 45 meters. Of course it is worth having 13ft feeder rod because it can get windy or you might need to go 60m in some lakes and it would be easier to cast heavier feeders. If you know anyone local, talk to them before coming they will guide you. Most of the lakes are fishing well for hybrids from June up to September. It could be a bit harder with roach as they tend to feed properly in second part of the summer in bigger waters. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip next year!
Hi Most of the time I go to the lakes I know, just try different banks if possible. I don’t have any floormaps or anything like that. If I fish the place or peg I’ve never been on before, I always take time to plumb up and look for features on the bottom.

hi Dee, how do you pick a spot to fish? do you have intell or "floormap" or do you go on experience of the lake?
Or just random start feeding a spot?
