On the vampire quest you can also kill the investigator and get his gear,Its pretty mid but It does look good for vanity

you said heavy attack was great in pvp but it would be better to use it to mobs that use skill that you can cancel like some other game,
heavy attack does stun and spells-break,
yes mostly it used to break the block but you can break the spells or skill that need time to cast... you can use it to cancel thing like aoe attack of magelings (when itself have blue magic power glowing around it or mana around it while casting)

with the kill the vampire quest you can also use the scroll on the investigator and kill him, you get bad rep but some pretty decent armor
also you dont get the gold ring from the mageling quest, its just a rare drop from magelings that you happened to get
