From the Glue manual: "The Peak Clip is not a limiter, it is a fixed waveshaper. It is in effect a zero attack time, zero release time peak level compressor which fixed infinite ratio and medium knee. It is linear up -2.0 dB then has a smooth curve to -0.5 dB and then is horizontal. The maximum level of -0.5 dB is useful so signals aren't pushed too hard which can possibly cause inter sample overshoot on playback."
Cause he’s using an ableton glue compressor on the audio of his videos so you can hear his breathing clearly. Either that or he’s just in touch with his body 😂
Not only was this incredibly informative but I love how your brain took a second to process that something crazy was going on outside. Very relatable moment 🤣
Great explanation! I never realized these 2 were different, both useful in different situations. I will set it to wet and go in hot, that's what she said.
Cool video. I've been on a clipper trip lately trying a bunch of different ones and playing with Ableton's more and more, so this was right up my ally. But as others mentioned, the constant "breathing in" sound made it hard to get though mate. Its not in your other videos, so i'm assuming you were trying out something new for flow or editing reasons. Good info though :) By the way; you should make a video on other clippers. What do you think of KClip, GClip, Event Horizon, etc.?
Thanks for going into those details! Would have been interesting to actually have a listen on the different rendered file. For glue compressor Softclipping you can also dial back the range knob completely, you don't have to use the dry/wet. Does the same thing, just wanted to point that out.
have you tried to flatten an instance without softclip turned on, because what I thought was that turning soft clip on actually created those subtle curves wheres without it would just be digital clipping.. sooo.. basically it's right, soft clipping doesn't creates analog distortion but it still brings the clippingdistortion on the glue compressor a little bit nearer to it.. I don't know I could be totally wrong tho^^
It hurt me when you used an Utility for the Glue Compressor and not for the Saturator. Im pretty sure 8db of drive in the saturator is differente from 8db gain from an utility. The drive adds harmonics. Try adding 36db of gain with drive and 36db with utility while having the output at -36db. EDIT: I tired it and its actually the same. So my understanding of the drive was wrong ehe, ups.
so what happens if you do 8db gain from utility ---> saturator w/ 0% wet + soft clip enabled? would this be the same as pushing 8db into saturator w/ the analog clip waveform?
What would the waveform look like with saturator set to analog clip and the saturator soft clip on? Even more rounded? How about saturator with no saturation but just the soft clip? I'd like to compare the two devices' soft clips. Can you describe so I don't have to do the test myself?
Hey Multiplier I need to lend a strong voice that can be heard all the way into the main office of Ableton. I hope you share my view on this matter and maybe air the frustration. I’m talking about 'Audio to Midi'. Ableton use this feature as a snazzy selling point. But quite frankly it gives a piss poor results almost every time! With drum tracks I’ve tried preparing tracks with good EQ’s, Multi band, noise reduction plugins etc, but it’s practically useless! It can’t detect a snare drum from a cats fart. 'Audio to Midi' is so ridiculously lagging behind in today’s technology it’s a travesty. And they obviously can’t be assed improving it since the release a few years back. I love Ableton Live. It’s is a huge player. And with today’s cutting edge offerings from e.g. Izotope RX, Zynaptic and Fuse Audio Labs -there’s no excuse for not buying some new tech to implement. I believe it’s high time that someone addressed this issue. As long as they keep focusing on that bloody plastic thingy to milk more money of their users, the software will suffer in development. Sorry for the rant but this is obvious. I hope you may share my thoughts and could talk about this in a future video. I know lots of people thinks 'Audio to Midi’ is laughable poor. They need to hear this. Thanks any have a good weekend.
Hey check this out here I beatbox into Ableton and use that audio to midi feature. Perhaps you're missing a part of the process: th-cam.com/video/TIHPiRq080Y/w-d-xo.html
I mean this in the nicest way possible… if you speak slower and remain calmer maybe you won’t be gasping for air between sentences. I appreciate the effort of this video but I really could not focus on any of the information. Just chill, we got time.
*inhaling intensifies*

Why you take such deep breaths
Whoa

Doesn't *heh* this *heh* content *heh* make you *heh* excited?
@@fencefirst2722 it was a serious question my guy
so he doesn't have to edit out long pauses?
I'd love a haas effect on those intense inhales.
Trance gate would be hilarious. Lol not doggin on you Multipleer
Its amazing that in this times you search for a button of some virtual program and you find an entire video of a human talking about it.
Not only was this incredibly informative but I love how your brain took a second to process that something crazy was going on outside. Very relatable moment 🤣
bro i didnt even hear the inhaling until i came into the comments.
Somebody make an inhale sample pack out of this pls.
My mind was already blown when you told me i could use the soft clip without the compression! So useful!
I was thinking about his loud breathing then I started reading the comments...
Same thing I was gonna put a comment down here but it was already taken.
Best video on this subject I've ever seen. Thank you for the great information, making a difficult to understand subject, very manageable.
i cant do it
I noticed it sounded different and wondered why, thanks!
Thanks bro, the detail within your contextualising is always appreciated.
Great explanation! I never realized these 2 were different, both useful in different situations.
I will set it to wet and go in hot, that's what she said.
I love your experimental approach and your new set up, great video mate👍

You can literally separately turn on/off the compressor and/or peak clip components on the glue. Unless the Ableton version is different
Great info
You deserve ALL the followers you’ve gained
great video. lots of good info on that glue comp

ok you kinda confirmed that later in the video^^ :D
Thank you! Really, thank you!
Works wonders for bringing out the upper harmonics for my sub bass....
Does soft clipping matter when sidechaining?
yes because the sound is still passing through the output of the compressor.
@@Andre-gy5ml Okay, thanks :)
Haha youre crazy bro, been watchig your tutorials since Ive started making music and you always go crazy over digital and analog sound, awesome video.
Yayyy multiplier’s back!!
MMM good video, like the new room !

you aren't actually wrong, you just can't hear the artifacts created by utility
keep repeating the process and you will hear em
most definitely drive is not the same as gain
Why didn't you just play the sounds
so what happens if you do 8db gain from utility ---> saturator w/ 0% wet + soft clip enabled? would this be the same as pushing 8db into saturator w/ the analog clip waveform?
I believe Saturator is a cleaner version… but could be wrong
What are those colours dots beside the Plugins from 10mins on ? Haven’t seen them before. Are they new to ableton 10 ?
yes, they're new. one now can colorize and "tag" library items. I rarely use this feature, though.

awesome video thanks for the info!!
this insane inhaling is making this unwatchable lol

I thought nobody would say something about his inhalation until I read the comments
Everyone was hard clipping without knowing.
great video
god forbid the man breathes
Multiplier would make a perfect Jack Sparrow, maybe he is Jack Sparrow...
thanks a lot
why do you breath like immortal technique
Checkout his different courses on EDM on Sound on Sound. They are very good.
My phone cut off the title at the s in soft clip, so it read "What does ableton's glue compressor 's..."
Thats not very funny, is it?
Thankyou!
The Glue Compressor is an analog compressor.
Bruh
Dude. Maybe the original. What we're all using is digital software code
cheers mi deers
I watched this with a Breath controler
I might watch your videos fully if it wasn't for the rediculous breathing.
THANK YOU!!!!!!1
is that a hi-hat? or VOX? or are you breathing
Any clipper with a knee is a soft clipper. It doesn’t matter how curvy it is. It’s still a soft clipper if the knee isn’t at 0
