There's not enough good quality meaningful songs like this anymore and some people take it for granted. I've been a huge fan of Rascal Flatts for a very long time and they have been retired for a while now. I still enjoy listening to each of their great songs and music.
Every time I hear this song I cry. It brings me back to earth when I’m getting ahead of myself. It reminds me to be thankful for what I’ve come from and how much progress I’ve made. But the part that makes me cry the most is the lyrics “visit grandpa every chance that you can. It won’t be a waste of time” because both my grandfathers are gone and that’s the biggest regret I have in my entire life. Not spending more time with them. Not talking with them more. Not listening to their stories. Not appreciating them as much as I do now
For me it's my dad. As a young adult, I don't remember calling him or sending him a fathers day card nor birthday. Now as a senior it almost haunts me and I can't say sorry. I am sure he understood
I never got love from my father, or any man but I did from my granddaddy. Best man ever.I was name from my grandmother I thank of them everyday. It made me who I AM,now I work with students with special needs over 35 years and so glad they gave me my roots.Because it makes me good to do this.
My dad is 85 and my son is 20 and they get the holiday trains out My dad is a very special man. Him and my son spend hours together. Hold on to loved ones.
Wonderful!! Apart from the church bit, this song is magnificent & was played at our good friend, Ross', funeral for the time of contemplation. When I look back at my life I realize that the influential folks in my life have been humble & kind...sadly not my folks: father was smug, lying & aggressive; mother was proud, angry & insecure. None of the many humble & kind folks was churchified. Thank you.

Those who stand behind you no matter what are always with you in your heart even when not in person - my granddad told me that when he was nearing the end - he knew himself - he had been living on borrowed time since I was little - he was told his heart wouldn’t last as they couldn’t do the procedure they needed to. He said he was given a gift he got to see me grow up, he passed when I was in my mid 20’s. Part of me went with him. Now 20 years on I miss him more than I did back then. He said “smile and I’ll Smile with you” 😊. Cherish those who help you grow time waits for no one.
