DSP is one of the only streamers I know that gets this angry about people being “off topic” in chat. The streamers I watch usually join in whenever someone in chat brings up a random question or topic. It’s like Brian said in his react to the steak freakout, it’s 15 minutes of free content to fill dead air while traveling to a quest marker or something.
What does he expect chat to be? A constant stream of “Wow DSP, you are so good at Halo, the way you drove that warthog off a cliff was so skillful and meaningful.”
He's legitimately a scumbag between complaining about money issues and trashing other people. Kat should be embarrassed

Phil almost certainly has NPD so what you said is exactly what he wants to hear. - What does he expect chat to be? A constant stream of “Wow DSP, you are so good!" His fragile ego needs constant external validation. Everything has to be about him all the time. Phil also wants his hand held constantly because thinking about stuff is hard.

@@AtlustheBookkeeperME!! So for the sick thing, I had a perfect immune system until I was 29 when I got Lymes Disease. If I eat anything like bread or anything but straight meat and I immediately get hit with pain and extreme flu symptoms, also causes states of psychosis and for clarity, I'm a very healthy person and this still happens. I had to change my whole life based on it. Now there are a few things why she gets sick if it's actually real, it's either Lymes Disease, Diabetes, Pots disease, Thyroid disease. The difficult part is pinpointing, there are all specific tests that are covered by insurance and answers you won't get from an emergency room. Also, as for me, I will probably never get better because the only real ''cure'', is a stem cell replacement which costs an insane amount and is voluntary so insurance won't pay for it even though I have full coverage. Anyways, no matter what, she needs guidance otherwise the damage your body takes constantly now eating what the body can and cannot eat and not having exercise, an early passing and a life of pain and fatigue is inevitable. My point is, the prognosis is making her actually sick and wrecking her immune system.

It's an innocuous question, but this dood just took it and waddled with it to spin the whole "Chat was DERAILED!" tism.
Not only is the whole "off topic streamer chat" extremely regarded to begin with, his reasoning behind it is as flimsy as his arms.
I think what people are missing is Philip's streams are for Philip. Philip buys the expensive seat, Philip gets the mid high range monitor, Philip gets the best audio, and if Philip's audience wants better quality anything they're going to need to donate. Why is it a surprise then that Philip doesn't like his audience talking amongst themselves? Philip's audience is there to entertain Philip. They are to compliment him, laugh at his poop jokes, give him money, ask him questions, engage him in conversation, and any deviation from that is needs to be moderated.
For someone with a “business degree” he really doesn’t understand the idea of competition. Of course multiple companies will release games (or any piece of media) around the same times. If consumers like one over the other the business may be able to prevent a sale to their competitor by making a more interesting or better product. Just like multiple sandwich shops having a roast beef on rye, the better shop will get your money!

Doesn't that sound like such a great community? Phil hates that you're talking about steak on HIS STREAM. His audience is so weak they can't talk about the game because people are having a different conversation at the moment. That's considered derailment. Only in Phil's chat that the chat being active could be considered a bad thing.

His argument about "Don't come here to hang out" is so odd. So many businesses would kill to be where people go to pay for their sandwiches and hang out. If someone saw the news and the first thought was "I cannot wait to get to the stream and talk about this" then that is building a community
I think it's because he knows most of the people in chat are LARPers trolling. This is what is meant when they say he has disdain for his fans.
@8bitorgy I always thought that if that was the case, he wouldn't be so ready to feed into their trolling. But maybe that is the beautiful mystery that brings me back. His seeing the trap but being unable to avoid it.
DSP thinks the reason some of the games underperformed was because there were too many RPGs on the market and not because of other factors like, say, lack of marketing or publishers having insanely high expectations based solely on brand name recognition or the fact that not everyone who plays games plays RPGs. Also, in the era of digital distribution, not everyone buys a game the first day, week, or month anymore - especially with games costing 70 dollars most of the time. DSP would open a hamburger place within distance of a McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Jack in the Box, make very little profit and then say the problem is that there's too many burger options.
