I went to Swaziland and upon entering the land border the people I was traveling with had European diplomatic passports and I had a Jamaican passport. They required visas and I did not need one. I felt so proud and welcome.

The issue is that it’s not as economically beneficial as building ports to export/import from richer countries.
And the constant threat of a civil war prevents countries outside outside of Africa from investing and constructing railways and roads.
Even the belt and road doesn’t really help connect African countries. Although it will help to increase Africa’s exports to richer countries in the Middle East and Europe, which will make African countries richer..... so more infer structure can be built to connect Africa.
But the belt and road initiative is decades away from completion.

The issue with a visa free Africa is, unlike Europe where the definition of poverty is very different from ours. You can be deemed poor in Europe yet still be able to live with free state accommodation and benefits. And most countries in the EU provide decent living standards which, with the exception of a few countries, imigration is mainly for highly skilled individuals looking for better opportunities or low skilled looking to fill gaps in countries that can provide a decent national minimum wage but they always return to their home nations because they can still survive there. However, there is no such in Africa. Most of our countries are run by tyrants, corruption rules. The divide between poor and rich is mind-blowing.. You either hustle or die. No state benefits, no housing benefits, no free health care or any help whatsoever. So if Africa was to do free movement. What would happen is an influx to the better countries like SA, Kenya etc which would not be fair. All you'd need to do is get there and never return. So until African countries and leaders take responsibility in providing decent living standards for their citizens and the AU put some kind of rules and strict standards for countries that want free movement to meet, then we cannever speak of free movement

He is right. Africans need to treat each other with respect. No one in this world will respect you until you start respecting each other. We are all Africans, own it. forget about your skin colors and just be African. You can be still be proud of your heritage, it is important of you but, Africa is your home now. Be one people and build your continent. Wasn't nice when South Africa host the World Cup? It was awesome even though I'm not from South Africa, it would be nice to see another African country hosting it again. No one is trying to take away your European, Arabs, Indian, Asian, Black African, or Latino heritage away from you. Don't you guys get tired of being looked down by everyone around the world. All Africans should travel within Africa with one visa. stop making your life difficult. This is why most people around the world say that Africans are stupid. In the words of the Russians President Putin, not his exact words but something like "Africans don't trust each other, but they trust foreigners, he went further to say that Africans will never be freed as long as they trust the Europeans, Asians, or the US. The Russians helped Africans for over a century. It was the Russians that gave Ethiopia weapons to defeat Italy, Cuban and Russians helped Angola to fight off the Apartheid, and many other Africans countries. It was the Russians that helped you out when you didn't have anything to defend yourself. Grow up Africans, you need to give back to the world like other nations do. Stop the habits of expecting to be given things and not contribute your share to the world. Until then, you shouldn't be asking for respect, earned respect through actions.

Many Nigerians, for example, are desperately escaping to other nations from the cruel economic hardships at home. And what that means is that we have other countries in Africa full of Nigerians, perhaps, with expired visas.
Economic hardship is the problem across Africa. So, the African Union Passport is already a dead experiment - without first improving the economic conditions of the various, individual African countries, and across the Continent as a whole.

Nigeria needs to tighten its borders because neighbouring countries like Niger, Chad and other Sahel nations are exporting their Islamic extremists and herdsmen into Nigeria due to lack of border control! The reason why Europe can have borderless countries is because all of Europe is safe for travel! But Africa is not yet there. Other countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Mali, Niger, Chad, Mozambique, Congo, Cameroon, all of North Africa etc can't be borderless because they are dealing with terrorism or are heavily threatened by terrorist groups like Al Shabaab, El Quada etc.
