Here's an incredibly useful Lucas Electrics Universal Wiring Guide: Melted = Positive Broken = Ground Missing = Switched Bits of Cloth = Main Battery Wrapped in Fan Belt = Alternator/Generator Positive Paint = Alternator/Generator Ground Also remember that all switches are Normally Open until activated, in which case they switch to Open. Don't forget to swap "Ground" and "Positive" in this guide for Common Positive (Live Chassis) systems, and remember that Lucas strongly recommends the use of a full-body rubber suit for daily operation of Live Chassis vehicles. Hope this helps! ;D
Liked the music. Kept expecting to hear "My baby took the Katy and left me the mule to ride". Glad to see you're not splashing out big time in this resurrection.
Looks great after a wash. All those spots are notorious Minor problem spots, the bottom of the A/Door pillar is always rotted out and the boot lid is double skinned and a moisture trap, you might find the boot floor below is pooched.
Nice video! , We still love Morris cars,in India s it happens the great grandfather of our celebrated Ambassador cars, engine, carburetor and other parts appear alike! Passion for family still lingers, as Hindustan ambassador was reigning Indian car market, till the arrival of Japanese Suzuki ! An excellent very reliable car as the jeans never give up!
When you first started with the power washer you could see a few years drop off the poor old girl, I hope she gets fully restored she deserves it after so much neglect.
I don't think you can call it neglect. The old guy really cared for the car but he just couldn't manage it. He took steps to prepare it to be parked up and has made my life much easier by doing so. Cheers
I cant help it...this sweet little car has something of a pre-war charme to it....the curves...the way her cute headlights look at you...if one could cuddle a car - it would have to be a Morris Minor....
Hi I did this to a Moggy 45 years ago! . I stripped all the paint off and then used a special primer for bare metal , then 3 coats of grey primer, before putting 2 coats of celloulose pale green (you know the one) then I sold it ??????????
My dad had a similar 1959 two-door saloon when I was a little kid in Florida. I'm one of the eight Yanks who knows the difference between the MM lowlight, the highlight, and the 1000.
My dad bought a cream colored Morris with red leather interior in 1957!! We loved it so much that he bought a royal blue with white leather interior in 1959 for my Mom!!!! Oh I’d love to have them now!!! I still vividly remember the smell of the interior.
made a sledge out of morris minor bonnet when we were Kids great fun good car the old moggy rust bucket though and try changing the Brake master cylinder under the floor front suspension good at dropping apart too
@@Badgertronix You've taken on a huge task what with sub frames and sills being the weak spots amd on top of that not knowing what the Warren Electrics was. I tips me lid to you with all that's ahead
It would really be helpful if you number the episodes, so viewers can follow your progress in sequence. I've watched you start the engine, take the blockhead and now low and behold, cleaning the Morris Minor's years of grime back to the beginning. I'm losing you on that.
Sorry about that. I get complaints either way so I left them off this series and made the episodes more stand alone. I'll look into reinstating them. They'll play in order on the playlist
@@Badgertronix Hello from old Blighty, that was a constructive criticism, an advisory thingamy. I hope to catch up with you from the blockhead onward. I like the clarity and your neat presentation. I didn't subscribe to lose you so early in your project. Best wishes, from Reading, Uk
Growing like a weed, eating like a horse, making noises like a donkey. Clean enough to work on without looking like an environmental disaster afterwards. Cheers buddy

Lucas Electrics: HOME BEFORE DARK!
You also forgot the Lucas loom obfuscate: SMOKE!
I can relate to that! Although the wiring in the Morris is in much better shape than the Holden. Not sure what that says about GM products 😂
Otherwise known as 'Loose Unions Connections And Shorts' or Lucas = Prince of darkness
From Kansas.... is Lucas Electrics as bad as the folks here used to say? I know on old Jaguars no one wanted to work on them. Cheers
What would you expect from a company that once employed Ozzy Osbourne.
Very good post 👍👌
Original and very good condition original paint.
Four door too much demand and fancy price.
Excellent post, thank you.
What a satisfying job, you can’t beat a good clean of something that’s very dirty!
Very satisfying! Should be a pleasure to work on now
My Dad's first car 🚙 loved it so much can't wait to see how the car turns out good luck 🍀
Hopefully it will turn out OK
A man and his Morris Minor!!!
She cleaned up pretty good well done!
Thanks! Plenty of work still to do
Cleaned up pretty good Jonathan! Now onward to the other things to check out as you mentioned about the engine. :)
It's a much nicer vehicle to work on now! Cheers Terry
I THOUGHT it was in bloody good nick for its age....this is NEW ZEALAND!! If that had been in the UK, it'd likely be WAY too far gone for restoration.
My great grandad worked on the bonnet press at the factory back in the day so he probably made that one
That's awesome. The bonnet is one of my favourite parts of the car, he did a great job :)

Fine example of the Morris motor.
It sure is. Thanks 😃
That took at least 20years off the old girl 😁, looking solid which a great start 👍👍👍
It came up real nice. Cheers mate
That was satisfying! Fun times ahead lol
Starting to look like a car again 😎
Holy shit. I can't believe that car is in such good condition. All it needs is a 2JZ. Ricaro race seats in the front and HID headlamps.
That could be the way to go in the Holden ;) Although 1UZs are much better value
That's the wiper motor.(Warren Auto Elect)..Cleaned up pretty good Johno.
Cheers Zig. The screw cap on the top that looks like a fluid reservoir confused me
I cant help it...this sweet little car has something of a pre-war charme to it....the curves...the way her cute headlights look at you...if one could cuddle a car - it would have to be a Morris Minor....
You get water in the engine and let it sit again will cause a lot of damage
She's lovely. Hope you will make vids of the restoration
It's nicer looking than I thought.
It's pretty solid. Cheers Terry
Wow that's I amazing condition, great little cars
It has held up pretty well. Cheers!
That's a really beautiful car.....a bit of polishing she'll come up lovely
Unfortunately it will take a bit more than polish to satisfy our inspection standards to go back on the road
A wee bit of a wash... a wee bit of rust... have a great weekend!
Wee wee! You too buddy
Blow the tyres up to 75psi.This will make it easier to push around town.
Lucas and water hmm 😭
The ultimate combination!
Ah ha, you know older cars!

that sounds like a good sledge! It will all get a good going over and hopefully end up working well
Remember to grease the Kingpins on the front suspension....Otherwise the wheel will fall off....Seen it happen to these more than once. Jeez Im old.
I shall make sure I do. Don't need a 3 wheeler
Not a kingpin - but a trunnion block. Never got greased, seized up and then the front collapsed: Marinas & Itals were the same...
Make sure it’s going in though
Cleaning removes the dirt
Thank you Sensei
That dust could have been worth lots of money LOL nice job mate
It's still in a pile on the driveway. Do you want me to send you some?
nice work mate
Cheers mate
Before Clarence Boddicker updated to his 6000 SUX he was getting around in a Morris Minor. (Robocop reference.)
I always appreciate a Robocop reference 😎
Badgertronix our That 70s Show 😆
Guessing this was in New Zealand, the old number looked like an NZ one, why do more people with old cars not clean them up like this??
It sure is New Zealand. Cheers
Lucas electrical system and a pressure washer,Ouch!!!!!!
It's all getting overhauled so no big deal
@@Badgertronix You've taken on a huge task what with sub frames and sills being the weak spots amd on top of that not knowing what the Warren Electrics was. I tips me lid to you with all that's ahead
It's finally clean 😁
at long last!
Get a turd, clean it, polish it, restore it. Now what have you got ? I had one of those & some idiot stole it LOL.
Looking good, do you think you can get away with sanding or do you think it needs a full sand blast?
sanding for the most part although some of the tighter channels might need a blast. I have both options available :) Cheers
7:23 There is a county Armagh in Ireland.
Most of The roads in Christchurch are named after British places. We have Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester streets and plenty more
@@Badgertronix While referring to Armagh as British is technically true it is a bit of a touchy subject with Irish people.
Cool car man.
Cheers
Do you still have the Ford Focus?
No, I sold that a while ago
Are you in Christchurch
Just outside Christchurch
From where did you Bay is car
Given it by a friend's relative
considering how old this car is, its in good shape.
dont think you should dothe engine bay with the washer. the electrics just got wet through. thats the windscreen wiper motor. with the label.
I don't think that's going to be an issue. Cheers
Are you originally from the UK?
I sure am :)
@@Badgertronix I'm somewhat surprised that you were originally from the U.K. You don't talk like you have a mouthful of ball bearings.
Good show, nice to see the kiwi flag on your wall,
👍
A bit of four star a new battery pump the tyres and plenty of t cut I've taxed worse lol
Lets go driving!!!!
the driving part is ok, the stopping part not so much :)
Is this a North Island car
Nice car but from experience always seem to have problems with first gear (broken teeth)
👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷
How nice it would be if we could clean fake faces like this with a pressure washer
7:18 is the wiper motor.
Thanks, I figured that out
Its a bloody solid shell sure it was made in the UK lmao
This would have been New Zealand made. Although New Zealand assembled is probably a more accurate term.
Badgertronix lol 😂 no comment on that 🤪
Wow, there is a car under there ;)
Haha there sure is. Cheers!

Good music. A little hard to dance to though.
Ole Morris cleaned up pretty nicely.
The little one is getting big.
Tut tut it looks like rain.
Growing like a weed, eating like a horse, making noises like a donkey.

Looks like Zigs hot rod now eh :)
plenty of room for a V8. All round drum brakes might have something to say about that though
Did i really just watch someone clean a car
I believe you did. Support groups are available.
I wonder if I would look that good after a shower... hmmmm
You'll find out at Christmas :)
