    Split screens are Minors
Full screens and they are 1000s.
I had a 1933 Morris Minor with an overhead camshaft engine, all hydraulic brakes.

"I don't like cars, so I drive a Morris minor" says it all. Anyone who wants to use a classic car as a daily driver needs their heads tested.

When a guy with the name of 'car dude' says "Anyone who wants to use a classic car as a daily driver needs their heads tested" really isn't much of a car dude... maybe you need to get your head tested for the lack of self awareness?

@@DanafoxyVixen hahaha I'm a mechanic and I have a classic. But there's no way in hell I'd choose to run it as a daily driver. Constantly repairing, piss poor fuel economy, no refinement, no safety etc. Each to their own though I suppose. There are some people out there who go through the daily struggle, but I bet they are few and far between. ;)

@@cardude5323 I actually disagree and part agree with you. No MOT no road tax and classic insurance. Also on the other side it depends on use and of course salt corrosion.
safety aspect wise and this may seam strange. I feel safer in an older car because it makes me drive safer avoidance etc.
There is more energy and fumes that go into producing an electric car. Than a classic before it has even turned a wheel. Plus whilst emmisions may bee bad not always the case if kept in tune. My pre cat 205 1.1 easily passed emissions catalytic standard.
for me if the climate was right i.e. no road salt I'd use my classics everyday that's the only reason. I am in the motor trade also. Take away all the plastic wheel arch liners you be surprised how quickly a new car will rust. I have seen VW golfs and three year old transits with rust blistering on upper wings and foot wells. BMW don't seam seal joints on most cars including new mini. Well not fully.
it's not economical to have several sets of tools, torque, spline sockets etc General deliberate inacessability and built in obsolescence. Not exactly unvriomentally sound.
It's charecter that modern designs lack.
      I'd daily a Volvo Pv444, Amazon or a P1800, SAAB and Peugeot 504.
A Morris minor I would daily. Some cars require more maitaininance than others granted. I would fit plastic wheel arch liners and if I had stupid money have the body galvanised. 😀 just so I could enjoy the charecter sounds. I would keep the points because one day the electronic sparker will pack up point you can at least badge to get home. I am 35 years old going on 70 plus.

@@edgarbeat275 yes you're right, I recently worked on a 3 year old VW golf. And it was rusting really badly, as someone who works on cars all the time, I couldn't be bothered with the constant upkeep. I drive a hybrid Toyota as a daily and only ever needs fuel. So you could say I'm 31 going on 71 also haha.
Despite what the oil companies publish, infact EVs are worse at the start, but get cleaner the more miles you pile on. But that's another story.
I've owed classics etc up until recently. And although they are fun, you can't beat just being in a comfortable and quiet car going along the motorway etc. There's a time and place for classics, and that's the weekend and motorshows etc. Valid point about it making you more cautious a driver. But still if somone else hits you at more than 30mph, it's game over. A modern 5 start ncap rating vehicle, a 30-40mph crash would be just a bit of whiplash and mild inconvenience with a taxi home.
All things considering, maybe I was a bit harsh with the comment haha. But the constant struggle of maintaining an aging vehicle for daily use seems stressful beyond belief. Thanks

@@cardude5323 No worries. Again I love the maintainace. How I was taught by my lecturer and I remember his saying to the class.
It's you job as a mechanic to slow down the rate of wear.
In essence if that means stripping a ball joint every 1000miles then it is never a chore. TBH I get upset that most stuff on cars trucks tractors are sealed for life throw away. I find it's like therapy slowing the rate of wear. tracing repairing faults. sadly it's not cost effective to make a part serviceable for maintainance.
if the bearing on a washing machine drym had a grease point it would last allot longer and not howl when it runs dry.
I really dislike modern cars in that respect.
I am sorry if I am preachy 😀 mechanics cars anything mechanical is a passion.
May I show you an example of what I mean on a tesla door pop out mechanism on a you tube vid I watched recently. I genuinely would be I retested in you thought on it.
I love classics but I also love future ideas.
A quick example I owned a 1937 Wolsley 14/56 with lever arm dampers leaf springs . At 40mph over the rumble strips nothing. the beauty of that setup was you could alter the damping by changing the viscosity of the damper oil. My 206 would shudder and bang. I felt safe and like a king in that car.
Morbid to say but the safety aspect does pop into my mind but fate has that set. I enjoy the moment I am alert and I keep my karma good. I recently got a car with ABS and I genuinely hate it. I really feel what the car does by the best tyres I can afford I feel safe that way.
This is the link to a guy who is a tesla enthusiast. Design and basically poor design of door handel and built in obsolescence. I ask my self how is that inviromentally friendly. I watch to learn and get to know new tech. th-cam.com/video/cjIjlF99cZk/w-d-xo.html
Don't give up on the classics the past can teach us ☺
I am a pedantic Scotsman hahahaha enough said lol.
I left my job as a mechanic to do motoring stain glass my avitar because modern design and the stupidity waste did my head in. I want to rebuild a gear box but throw away and refit arrrgh.

No! They're absolute rubbish. Just look at the fit of the hood on the convertible for just a start; not to mention safety issues and rust.

You’ve got to take into account when these vehicles were designed and built - long before any automated design or build technologies. For the period, a car that simply started every morning was a bonus. The Minor did that and more, being able to cruise at 60 - 70 mph and able to reach 80mph plus!

I live in a country were we don't salt the roads in winter and rust isnt a big issue with Minors. as for the safety issues, they make you a better driver as your life depends on it.
