I wouldn’t say the devil fruits are a fate worse than death (losing the ability to swim in exchange for becoming a sun god, a Phoenix or sprouting giant limbs, etc. is a small price to pay in my opinion). Now the SMILE devil fruits of the other hand? Now that’s a curse! You either laugh constantly and can no longer express any other emotion (basically eating Joker Venom) or get an ugly fake zoan mutation (like an entire giraffe growing out of your ass).
Well the ones that just turn you laughing also take your ability to swim so you now until death can’t express any other emotion but hysterical laughter and will drawn if put into water
That's something also may want to warn friends and anyone dealing in this considering the Toonami Rewind block and something is up with the scheduling there along with some parts dealing in rip offs also anime is getting under attack by United Nations and Western Companies trying to censor it may want to look into that and spread the word.
@@sirinkaslana3709 Yeah it really is also in other news it seems anime is getting in trouble with not only censorship issues but also Netflix as well anyway look that up too and warn friends.
Honestly I for one should have put Casca in there, SAed by the one person you followed after he saved you from an SA, and getting so traumatized, you regress to the age of 3.
And THEN GETTING KIDNAPPED BY VILLAINS for a Time, just to Take Almost Three Arcs to Get your Sanity Back! AND THEN GETTING KIDNAPPED AGAIN! BUT BY THE SAME DUDE WHO SA YOU! 😢😢😢
Actually with the Sinning Tree in Yu Yu Hakusho, normally the tree would eventually grant its victim the sweet release of death after draining their life force but Elder Toguro happens to be immortal meaning that the tree will never be able to actually kill him as it continues to keep him in its hold forever.
I agree. if your human you will die by the tree's vines. But if your immortal (like elder Toguro) you will suffer for all enternity And btw Robyn the tree is not inhumane it was made like that. all it did is to make its cruel victims hallucinate from there sins of evil and wickedness
For D Grey Man you forgot to mention that after you turned into a Akuma, the Akuma will go out killing more people. Which is to cause pain to the soul and from that pain the stronger the Akuma gets and eventually it will evolve. Meaning that it can go out to kill more people causing more pain to the soul and get even stronger. Where the main protagonist is able to identify Akuma's by seeing the soul that's getting tortured. Which when he was able to show off what it looks like to everyone. They were disgusted as it looks like a bound mummy tied in chains. (Also in horrible pain).
The Grim Reapers of Black Butler remind me of something Otho said in Beetlejuice. "You know what they say about people who *cough* *cough,* in the afterlife they become civil servants.
The one I’d add to the list is Getting Used As a Living Insect Nest. There are a few people in different series who were paralyzed or otherwise incapacitated by a bug, then seeded with their eggs. The victim is eaten alive from the inside out while the larvae grow. If they’re lucky, they’re unconscious or asleep. If they unlucky, well… Glad to see you back, Robyn!!! Love the Ai Enma costume!
That's also something also in other news may want to warn people about this and that Toonami Rewind block to check the schedule now since it maybe something wrong on that since the network now isn't like what it used to be or could be the holidays.
In Overlord, 2 of Arche's companions suffer this fate, on top of it they are resurrected every time they die just to go trough it again and again and again. Bone daddy does not like people breaking into his house.
@@Nuinwing You're hitting it there and also may want to still check that Toonami Rewind Block of Cartoon Network something really fishy is going on that part now and also anime has gotten attacked by Western Credit card Companies and the UN (United Nations) also something to look into since these days you may have to worry.
@@NuinwingI always hated he pretty much hired these people to break into his house and decides to torture them for taking on his job. I know it was a part of a larger plan but I never completely got it so I’ll read the light novels to get a better idea. This was also the scene that cemented the mc as a villain.
I think being trapped is a pretty horrific fate. I've always been terrified of the idea of asylums specifically. Of being trapped in a place where your sanity has been written off, so nothing you say will be taken as truth. Where anything can be done to you and escape is impossible and no one will believe you if you try to call for help. *shudders*
Considering all the deaths Suburu went through due to his immortality curse let's just say "Spoiler Alert for the current arcs in the anime, manga, and LN" his sanity, and emotional/mental state is practically 0 yep all the deaths he went through has made him a broken guy,
Broken or insane? Who many times does he do the same thing and expect different results? He eventually figures out he needed to do something different, but after how many deaths? Then when he does move forward, he finds a way to make more problems for himself by having the same attitude/outlook on life that got him into trouble in the last loop he was stuck in.
I think being captured by Ainz's people is still worse.... Imagine being paralyzed, then used as a living nest. Eaten by insects then healed to not kill the person, all while you yourself are awake.. And you'll only die from age
@@SymmbolZStotally agree here, Ainz's menagerie of tormentors is super nasty. Although I will say for Subaru in Re: Zero is that in the LN when the bunnies ate him one time they went in from the, uh... Back passage if you follow me 😮.
@@SymmbolZS I also agree. Subaru in Re: Zero at least has a way out of it that he eventually finds after a lot of trial and error. The people under the "tender loving care" of Ainz's subordinates are stuck until THEY decide to end it.
Eri’s trauma is honestly so much worse than people think because they weren’t just experimenting on her, they were ripping her body apart, killing her, then revived her over and over again. She’s only 7 when they do this
Even if they weren't killing her, to do the unspeakable things that were being done to her.... it's no wonder that she was like she was right after being saved, and genuinely unable to smile. So when she smiled at that concert, along with the symbolism of her being free of THAT guy, OH! I teared up something fierce! I've heard people say that what All For One did to Shiguraki is worse, but I disagree.
Being a $3x $lave to a sadistic lion man (Killing Bites) Being ravaged my a mob of goblins (Goblin Slayer) Possessing the Number Two Headband (Afro Samurai)
With I heard, "Society taking control of your life", my brain said, "Oh like Shimoneta." And the second part of it was "Shimoneta". Who knew that it would be included in this video. I did the same for "Infinite Time Loop", only Magikano for that one. Plus, HIGURASHI!!!!
Being Forgotten is one that I think would just break most people. Interact with everyone but being forgotten the moment you no longer exist in their sight? Oof. Bye family, bye friends, bye enemies. Being able to see the world and interact with it, but to be on the world's block list forever. >.
Not technically an anime (although an anime company worked on it) : "Kids Stuff" in Justice League Unlimited. Mordred wind up with eternal life.... and eternal aging. His body keeps on getting older and older but he can not die. It is unclear if he ages mentally or not.
Made it for the premiere! Let's see here.... #10) Yeah, this fits a lot of societal expectations these days, especially _Shimoneta._ #9) _Jujutsu Kaisen_ made me worry about the whole concept of curses. But I wouldn't eat any Devil Fruit if I couldn't swim. #8) Oh yeah. That... That's all too real for a lot of war veterans too. And certain _Saw_ victims! *(Badumtss)* 😂 Seriously, that kinda is pretty sucky and the traps from the _Saw_ franchise are really brutal. I would not recommend watching it if you have a weak stomach. #7) Ugh..... I am one of those people who was a victim of this crap. Good thing I fought back, but I still remember it all. Eww...🤢 #6) Whoof. This one is rough. I could guess Ryuko and Satsuki would be a part of that category, along with Crona. *(Watches)* Called it! Totally called it! #5) Ugh.... I think we all know who dealt with that one, and _NO, I'M NOT SAYING IT EITHER!!_ But I will include _Akira_ and Tetsuo's death. #4) Yikes. That's gotta be rough on the Reapers and everyone who deals with this fate. But poor AI really doesn't deserve it, and neither does Ymir. #3) Oh yeah! Diavolo gets this fate deserved _big time!_ Giorno Giovanna is Jesus. Hallelujah. #2) Yeah, Granz got his and so did Kars. Those two earned their fates. You could also put Kira Yoshikage in this category. H.M.) Stone petrification doesn't seem so bad, but watching your loved ones die is seriously sucky. I should know. #1) Oof... The only eternal torment I'd want is probably stuck as a vampire. If I wanted to die, I could eat some garlic, get stabbed by a silver stake, or go into sunlight. Problem solved. Yay...
@@fritzy8318 I was just about to say, choose your vampire franchise carefully. cause some of them DEFINATELY have different strengths and weakness's. I unfortunately don't know a lot of anime vampire series so the only ones I can think of that aren't weak to sunlight among other vampire stereotypes are Diabolik lovers and Vampire Knight. 🤦♀
@@KrisRN23935 From what I can tell, the only time that the cells were explicitly suffering was in Cells at Work: Code Black. Otherwise, these set roles don’t seem to bother them at all. Remember, just because they look like people doesn’t mean they think like people.
I hate this algorithm. I have to keep a list of creators in my Notes to make sure I don’t miss videos and I still do!! Thank you for giving me nightmares, in a good way 😅
Blood+ fits in another of the fates worse than death. The Chiropterans and their queens are timeless as well. One Chiropteran was trapped halfway in concrete and drained of blood for decades, just waiting at the bottom of a mineshaft in Chernobyl for someone to spill blood within drinking distance. This also makes the queens fall asleep in roughly 33-year cycles. 3 years awake, 30 more asleep, waking to find everyone you care about aged considerably or also a timeless monster who must wait 30 years for a brief moment to spend with their queen. Then there's Lulu with the survivor's guilt if being the only of her kind to survive long enough to be cured of vampire AIDS and sunlight. All the family she ever knew turned to dust while she alone now wanders an unknown world.
This is an example of Eternal Suffering: When Anos turned his racist teacher into an immortal hybrid. This is similar to turning a Nazi into an immortal, black Jewish person. So they not only have to live forever as someone that they hate, but they have to live in a world that discriminates them. And if they get found out by other oppressors, people that they once considered "friends," they are going to have a blast torturing them.
As far as a fate worse then death is concerned, I'd say Monkey's Paw immortality is up there. Sure, eternal life is all well and good, but not when there's a Monkey's Paw styled catch to it!
The some anime characters with the worst fate: 1. Hyakkimaru from "Dororo" 2. Joseph from "The Ancient Magus's bride" 3. Kuro from "Servamp" 4. Nezuko from "Demon Slayers". 5. Victor from "The Duke And His Maid".
The "Eternal Suffering" fate also applies to Kars from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2 Battle Tendency since he ends up encased in in stone after getting blasted into the vacuum of space by a volcanic eruption. Kars wished for death but nothing could give it to him.
Not really an anime, but the song ONE by Metallica is the first thing I think of when I hear the phrase "fate worse than death." Inspired by the novel "Johnny Got His Gun," the lyrics tell of a soldier sent to fight in the war to end all wars. One moment he's hit by an explosion in the trenches. The next he "wakes up" in a hospital bed, on full life support, no arms, no legs, completely blind and deaf and mute. The guy is trapped in his own body with the pain of his injuries, the horrors he saw while fighting, and no means to express himself (other than bobbing his head up and down in Morse Code) nor to make a new living after the war whatsoever.
For the time loop I'd like to add Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Now, they do break out of the time loop after 8 episodes (infamously known as the Endless Eight), but for what felt like thousands of years to them they constantly repeated the final 2 weeks of summer vacation because Haruhi didn't want summer to end. There were also minor changes to what activities the group did during each loop but most of it was the same thing over and over and over. Another fate I'd like to add as well is Being Stuck In a Parallel or Alternate Universe. The characters that come to mind for this one are Lisanna from Fairy Tail and Kyon from Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Lisanna was believed to be dead at the start of the series, only making appearances in flashback scenes during the childhoods of most of the FT guild members. But when the guild hall and guild members (save for Lucy and the Dragon Slayers) disappear following the Oracion Seis arc, it is revealed that Lisanna had been living with a version of Fairy Tail in a parallel universe for who knows how long due to her trading places with that universe's Lisanna (who was deceased) with no way of contacting her family and friends. And I think it's worse than death because she was believed to be dead but was actually living in a parallel universe, while the other Lisanna was dead so there was no way for the others to tell if she was theirs or not, so they assumed that she was theirs. As for Kyon, well.... his fate might be worse than death because he believes himself to be going insane after waking up one morning and finding things much different than the previous day. There's a flu bug going around, Haruhi and Koizumi are not at the school, Mikuru has no recollection of being a time traveller, and Asakura - who was deleted by Nagato during the series - is back. And in Haruhi's seat in class. There's a lot of time travel shenanigans involved as well, and Kyon possibly suffering a fatal wound, but he does wake up back in his original universe. Also, at #1 I recognized the soundtrack that was used during the Honourable Mentions segment from Darkest Openings and Likeable Villains, as well as during the Platinum End breakdown during a First Episode Impressions episode. But I don't know the name of the track. Any chance we could see a Darkest Endings list next Halloween?
meh... I don't think Haruhi counts as in general, the cast would not remember everything about their infinite time loop which also ends up ending. The other Infinite time loop fates were either: the Loop gets broken but the character made to suffer through it remembers going through a time loop of suffering or the time loop is truly infinite but the Victims never remember.
@@kaltaron1284 oh yeah.... but of all members of the SOS Brigade, she's the only one who wouldn't actually be affected. Wait.... was she a robot or an alien.... if the former, then this comment holds, but if an alien, well, even aliens can be affected by infinite time loops...
@@lanteanboy An artificial being created by aliens IIRC. Humanoid interface or something. And IIRC even she got a bit bored./annoyed with the whole thing.
19:30 And Robin STILL doesn't understand Magikano. The one being who goes back in time remembers what happens but for the final loop, the one went back in time was Ayumi. You know, the one who was instigating everything just so she could keep her magic power. We know the final loop is different because instead of using her magic to disappear, Ayumi approaches Haruo. If you're paying attention, Ayumi gives up her cursed magic to live with Haruo.... guess that still counts as a fate worse than death but for which one.
Diavolo honestly deserved his fate. He’s responsible for most of the villains pre Part 7 obtaining their stands. He created a crime organization that sold drugs to kids. He tried to kill his own daughter. And He killed nearly half of the main cast.
I hate to point this out, but literally multiple human fates in Demon Slayer should be on this list. I'm just wondering how some didn't considering: Being made into a demon AGAINST your will that wants to chow down on your remaining family members if you use your new powers - check! Literally having to find a cure to save your only surviving sister from getting killed by other demon slayers - check by the main freaking character! Also, literally gaining the ability to literally have to eat demons to use their abilities and up your strength, only to basically be told off by your better-off sibling and assaulted repeatedly - also check somehow! Sure, I could list a few demons outside of the MC's surviving sister, but some of them only regret their actions in their last moments (like Doci and her brother). And some, (like Doma, who I find the best Upper Moon Demon, just due to how much of a manipulative jerk he is by targeting women and literally running a cult as his main job), literally can't and/or don't have any regrets. Lastly, I have to list Yuki in how she becomes a God in a reality by literally f*cking and than axe-murdering Yuki. It's worse than death because not did she have to murder a lot of people to win the Death Game, but she had to cross freaking dimensions to find an alternate version of her now-dead lover that did get to be on her level in a different world. This is a level of mult-iversal Grimm Reapers seem to have a very easy job by comparsion.
21:49 What, you forgot the jerk in "That Time I got reincarnated as a Slime" that Hakuro beheaded, and because he had a Perception Slowing effect, he stayed consious for what, to him, seemed like hours as his head was separate from his body?
Thank you so much for including Braves of the Six Flowers, even if it was just in the Honourable Mentions; it's such an amazing series that sadly didn't continue after the 1st light novel (could've had at least 5 more seasons) so it's always nice to see it get some kind of attention
Not an anime, thankfully, but I once read a web comic where the female lead was trapped in an unexplained, never ending time loop where she was repeatedly returned to the very moment her life's ruin was set in stone. That's all it was. Chapter after chapter of her vain attempts to fix her situation, until she inevitably goes insane.
For those thinking "Devil fruits aren't that bad" remember, Oda has said there are a LOT of Devil Fruit abilities that just suck. We don't see those in the anime because people who have the "You smell like ass all the time" fruit don't get to go on cool adventures.
Kinda curious why you didn't mention Freezing and Satelizer el Bridgette for #7. Her situation fits very well with the topic and it has a unique scenario without going overboard. For those who are curious, Satelizer is the daughter of the Bridgette patriarch but her mother is not his wife. As such, his wife utterly hates and loathes Satelizer and her biological mother. This comes to a head when her father invites the two of them to live under his roof, setting off a particularly nasty life. Her mother taught her to never surrender, never yield. Even until sickness took her, she never stopped telling Satelizer to stand tall. It was when she died, however, that the torture truly started. Her stepmother basically instructed her son to treat her as if he was playing with a toy, beating and abusing her without mercy. Even though the stepmother's daughter took Satelizer's side and chastised her brother any time she caught him mistreating her, she wasn't always around and as they got older and as Satelizer's beauty became apparent, he became more sadistic and cruel with his acts. He did unspeakable things to her and while her stepsister finally caught on and stopped it, the damage was already done. It wasn't until Satelizer was confirmed to be compatible with stigmata and became a Pandora that she finally left that life. As anyone who has experience such abuse can tell you, you never truly forget and she spent the next 10 or so years in constant fear of men, shying away and even lashing out and permanently injuring a guy who was intent on becoming her Limiter.
I saw a Manhwa recap of a guy who gained the ability of self-healing. This guy's bullies would trap him in an airtight coffin made of diamond; leaving him to die from one of at least 4 things: 1) being impaled by the spears of diamond. 2) suffocation. 3) Starving. 4) thirst. He'd heal from the deaths, each time hurting more than the last, and use the few seconds of air he'd get before dying of suffocation again to try and punch his way through the diamond!
The true horror of being truly immortal is not even that people around you die. Its that everything dies, humanity, the earth, the sun, the universe. Meanwhile you have to witness all of it unable to die. If you think about it for a while you may learn to accept that death is not so bad after all if you lived long enough. Depending on what happens after you die but thats to deep now😅
Another thing about the victims in Corpse Party, if they die, not only will they be forgotten, but they’ll never get to pass on, and be forced to suffer the pain of their death for eternity.
I wouldn't put 'poor' and 'Granz' in the same sentence. Out of all the Esapada who deserved to die, Mayuri's concoction was a fitting punishment for what he did to Nemu, Nel, Pesche & Dondochaka alone, though also by extent what he did to his own Fraccion and brother
The fates I suggested were kind in the vain of curses and eternal suffering, but I put down in suggestions the Curse of the Blue Moon from the Case Study of Vanitas and Being a Living Doll from Shadow's House. The first makes a vampire slowly go insane and possibly even kill people they love as it makes them crave blood and not care if they suck the person dry and die of blood loss. And the second may as well be eternal servitude, if you've watched the first season of Shadow's house, you know why I put this here, if you've read the manga, then you absolutely know why I'd put this as a fate worse than death.
The Shiki vampires of Shiki probably fit in #1 too as the victims never chose to be vampires, and some of them hate being immortal, bloodthirsty predators and then, they were all brutally killed by friends or family (special mention goes to Megumi in the anime). And the ones that don’t die have to live afraid of sunlight and needing to feed on blood for all of eternity.
Not really an Anime but the Bloodfiends in Limbus Company. Bloodfiends aren’t like the traditional vampires in that they do fear light but their weakness is water. They feed on blood but not for sustenance but rather to keep their mental state stable otherwise they will go feral. They are outcasted as bloodthirsty monsters when most of them are still humans to a degree, just happen to be reduced to their base desire and that is to consume blood because it’s the only thing that makes them feel happy even though it does not exactly fill them. And their victims becomes Bloodbags, which are weaker Bloodfiends.
On Overlord, what about: Perpetual nestings for Insects, Perpetual skinning on "Demiurgs farm", "serving" Shalltear, ... of the two depicted you choose Nuranist over the livestock for roaches?
14:27 Chiropteran is actually the scientific name for bat. precisely the order of mammals that classify as bats. So basically they just turn into a bat monster.
In Steins; Gate it's even worse than you describe. Every timeline it's either his best friend Mayuri dies and his love Makise survives, or its Makise who dies and Mayuri survives. He is stuck trying to find that one timeline where they both survive.
2 different ones I'd mention would be the Jusenkyo curses from Ranma 1/2 most turn you into a small animal ryoga was a pig, mousse a duck, and shampoo a cat 2 of those are food animals, and until they learned to move and fight in those form they were all super vulnerable to anyone or anything. Second being isekaied like Ainz was into a body that can't really do biological things would be even worse. Think of the nobody's from kingdom hearts who could remember what feeling emotions were like but couldn't anymore is simlor to how I'd imagine Ainz would feel if he didn't have the emotional suppression kick in all the time.
@realJoeMavro good luck getting warm water though when you do transform, also as a food animal you could be killed and eaten before you have time to react, as a cat you have to deal with dogs chasing you and other cats fighting for territory, taro, and Rouge had ones that were decent but one changed your personality and the other like a monster. Ironically Ranma had the best one as an opposite gender one, was probably the easiest to adapt to with thumbs to manipulate things with and no personality changes.
That eternal sleep in a silent void is one of my biggest fears. I'm terrified that when my time is over, that's it, an eternity of dark, silent nothing.
7. People would break if they ever were to learn the likes of Kazumasa Hirai's Wolf Guy Franchise. And also this ongoing horror manga that sold over 2.4 million in Japan called Ingoshima.
I'm sure C2/C.C. from Code Geass falls under the category of eternal suffering. She's immortal but she can still be brutally injured, she just regenerates. *spoilers below* she even told Lelouch in season 2 that her one wish is to die. But at least as of the movie, she's not alone anymore.
23:49 To be fair, the Shadow Realm didn't exist in the original version as it was simply made up by 4Kids in order to replace death. So, I don't think it counts.
If I remembered correctly, the Shadow Realm isn't death. It's more so of living there in misery & worst nightmare for all eternity. There was that one episode where Yami Bakura duel against Bonz. He won the match and sent Bonz & his group into hell. Not the Shadow Realm. But the actual hell itself. Although the 4kids dub didn't say that cause of copy error rights. But in the Japanese subs, it did say Yami Bakura sent them to hell.
@jaretco6423 It's even worse in the manga where Yami Bakura instead of sending Bonz to Hell, he just straight up kills him. Bakura took Bonz's life as a Penalty Game using the Millenium Ring. The duel also happened off screen and this time Bonz was alone as his friends were nowhere to be seen.
Just to put things into perspective, Diavolo has very likely suffered all of the previous fates worse than death thousands if not millions of times by now.
Now and Then Here and There has several examples all in one series, such as CSA and torture. Mermaid Saga is all about fates worse than death, with the immortal main character (in that he is eternally the age he was cursed and returns to life within a day if he dies--meaning he's suffered through countless deaths over his 500 years of life) initially trying to find a way to cure his curse and to live out the rest of his life normally (as opposed to the alternative--lopping off his own head or a similar alternative (being burned to ash is hinted at being effective, though it's not confirmed--it would effectively severe the spine, after all). Then there are the really horrific curses caused by consuming some form of mermaid's flesh--being turned into a fish monster (in the translation referred to as "lost souls," half-transformations, gaining eternal youth but aging/dying slowly on the inside (and in one case having to replace an arm every so often), recurring scars. Also, being under the thumb of a sick little shit like Masato, though to be fair, being trapped in the body of a preteen at 800 years old is its own curse.
On the topic of One Piece devil fruits. Having a unique power in exchange for the ability to swim may not be as bad as it sounds. Most users who have taken the bite from the mystery apple eventually found a niche way to make the most of even the strangest of powers. However if there is a devil fruit you should avoid at all costs, it's the SMILE fruits. These artificial devil fruits have the potential to turn the person who eats one into an abomination of nature by fusing him with a random animal part, but there's a catch. There is only a ten percent chance that the user will be granted the transformation and the boost of strength that comes with it. The rest of them are duds that will not grant any power whatsoever. Even worse is that not only will the dud take away their ability to swim, but robs them of all their emotions except glee regardless of how they actually feel. Indecently, unlike normal devil fruits which grant their power only to the first person who eats just one bite, the dud SMILES maintain their side effects even when partially eaten. With that in mind the despicable Kurozumi Orochi knowingly fed the leftovers to the citizens of Ebisu Town out of utter contempt.
And for human experimentation, there was also Chuuya who was the forced vessel for a demi-god whom he can hardly control. In order to defeat a very powerful enemy, he has to unleash this "corruption" form that goes completely out of control and won't stop until everything (Chuuya included) is destroyed. The only way to stop this is for Dazai to be there to lock the demi-god up again. Chuuya's "brother", Paul Verlaine, was another victim of these experiments as well. And brings us to No Longer Human. Dazai's nullification can't be turned off. So when he is impaled to the point of an inch of his life, Dr. Yosano can't save him because her ability won't work. The only way that he can be saved is if he "dies" for 20 seconds and then he is brought back with Yosano's ability. Bungo Stray Dogs is full of them.
Robyn, it's always great when you do your Halloween show!! But this year, you took it to the darkest depths!! A Top 10 list nobody wants to be ANY PART OF!! Of all of the nightmare visions you presented, my personal favorite was Vampire Princess Miyu. It was my first 'No happy endings here' anime & from episode one (The one you showed.), it was too hard to watch but even harded to not watch!! Still one of the best. And Hell Girl a close second!! Thanks for this great addition to the Anime America Halloween library, Robyn!! Well worth the extra time to air it, for sure!! And Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! 🫡👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
the youngest may be the vinsmoke siblings as judge modified them in the womb. He also modified his daughter at some point but the reason why ichiji niji and yonji are such monsters are because of judge's modifications. They will live as royal slaves without hearts not even being able to have value in their own lives let alone have passion for something like Sanji does for cooking. if they could be saved and cured i personally think Niji would like art, Yonji would like science and machines, and ichiji would either like martial arts, farming, or literature becoming a novelist. Maybe someday someone will ask oda what their passions would be if they had emotions
maybe not related to the video, but i think you would not like what genishka did in berserk. out of every apostle in the series, genishka is the one apostle who does not like the god hand. (spoiler warning) the worst thing he has possibly done was helping create the man-made behelit AKA the demon womb. it was made of still living apostles who where patched and chained together into a vat, which was filled with certain fluids (i don't know if i can say this on TH-cam). he used this thing to create his foot soldiers the daka, who when dead, will return to being human, but none will remembers or recognize their faces for reasons i would not tell.
It's not that the abyss don't want you to go down, it don't want yout to get out. You can descent as much as you want in the abyss and nothing would happen, is getting out that triggers the curse
I’d say being a Magical Girl in Madoka Magica is slightly better than being the Rose Bride because they eventually die and as The Prince states in Utena “Those who can die are Lucky”
As far as turning into a monster goes, I think you could technically count the Dragon Seed from Fairy Tail. Spoilers ahead!!! Even if they could revert to a human form, they’re still a dragon once the dragonization is complete. Look at it did to Irene. Even after she could appear human again, life was never the same. She couldn’t taste anything she ate. She constantly felt cold, itchy, and tired yet could never really fall asleep. It came to the point she wanted to enchant herself into a newborn baby, her own newborn baby, just so she could live as a human again. Centuries passed and she ended up going through with enchanting herself into another person, so even with all her power, she still wanted to escape the effects of the Dragon Seed.
not sure if it was confirmed or not but i believe devilman is also a time loop, quite the tragic ones, with only a handful of beings being able to see the loop but are often powerless to stop what is to come
Good to see your videos!!!! Yes the Golden Wind infinite death for the villain.....man, I can't even wish it on the villain. that's just so cruel!!!!!!!!
overlord has some pretty messed up fates in it, especially in the light novel. the half elf worker and her human lover from the nazarik arena, for example? basically turned into meatballs to be skinned and butchered, only to regenerate and go through it again the next day. And don't forget Demiurges happy fun farm.
Overlord's fates, especially of the Workers from season 3, ARE MUCH WORSE in the LN. And Team Foresight, the main group and closed things to "heroes" of the arc, get it the worst. Not just them but the people close to them have horrible fates. I don't recommend looking up the caster's fate in the Web Novel version, especially if you like Shalltear. All I'll say is, after a popular poll voted to keep her alive in the WN version, the author NEVER held a vote again.
what's the other spot? Never watched Berserk and don't plan to cause its way to gruesome for me to personally handle. I'm perfectly content just hearing about it from other people and videos like this.
@@yufi305 Literally the spot right after he was featured in. Guts early life was basically his stepfather using him as a child soldier to earn him money, and one night he sold him to another mercenary who SAed him.
@@yufi305 Yeah, Guts' life is pretty much trauma from birth. Berserk does rightfully have a reputation for being dark, but the story is about growing out of that darkness.
@@tazmanianchocobo That is so sad, I've Heard the Character has had it really bad plenty of times, just didn't know all the details or that it was more then just getting betrayed and losing his friends and getting his girlfriend R-d in front of him all on the same day. If I were to add in another victimi of the Time Loop, Lu Guang from LinkClick. (SPOILERS FOR LINK CLICK!) Yes it was shocking that Lu has the power to go back in time himself and he can stop whenever he wants to HOWEVER! He cant imagine his life without having Cheng Xiaoshi in it because he basically changed his life and gave it new meaning, and then it was revealed that Cheng actually died multiple times in different ways no matter how hard Lu tried to change it. The worst part? HE STILL HAS HIS MEMORIES IN TACT! Cheng doesn't! Cheng has no idea of what Lu is doing and Lu will suffer of the constant back and forth to keep Cheng safe even if it means an eternity!
You either laugh constantly and can no longer express any other emotion (basically eating Joker Venom) or get an ugly fake zoan mutation (like an entire giraffe growing out of your ass).
exactly smiles are way worse at least you can train a shitty df into something cool, smiles have no positives
may that where the Joker from Batman get his insperation for his Joker Venom he see what happen when people eat SMILE devil fruits from One Piece
@@kyo0133considering the Joker and joker venom predate One Piece by A LOT that's highly unlikely
I think it depends entirely on the fruit
Well the ones that just turn you laughing also take your ability to swim so you now until death can’t express any other emotion but hysterical laughter and will drawn if put into water

But if your immortal (like elder Toguro) you will suffer for all enternity
And btw Robyn the tree is not inhumane it was made like that. all it did is to make its cruel victims hallucinate from there sins of evil and wickedness
Yusuke: Note to self, don't piss off Kurama..."
I was just thinking that...seems to be a trope now
The one I’d add to the list is Getting Used As a Living Insect Nest. There are a few people in different series who were paralyzed or otherwise incapacitated by a bug, then seeded with their eggs. The victim is eaten alive from the inside out while the larvae grow. If they’re lucky, they’re unconscious or asleep. If they unlucky, well…
Glad to see you back, Robyn!!!
Yeah there is an insect in made in abyss that does just that it force feed it's host to keep it alive while the larvae feed on it from the inside

Being a $3x $lave to a sadistic lion man (Killing Bites)
Being ravaged my a mob of goblins (Goblin Slayer)
Possessing the Number Two Headband (Afro Samurai)
I wouldn't count that third one, because you do that to yourself
With I heard, "Society taking control of your life", my brain said, "Oh like Shimoneta." And the second part of it was "Shimoneta". Who knew that it would be included in this video. I did the same for "Infinite Time Loop", only Magikano for that one. Plus, HIGURASHI!!!!
I thought that Psycho Pass would be mentioned for that one
til Magikano isn't just a harem series
Being Forgotten is one that I think would just break most people. Interact with everyone but being forgotten the moment you no longer exist in their sight? Oof. Bye family, bye friends, bye enemies. Being able to see the world and interact with it, but to be on the world's block list forever. >.

Made it for the premiere! Let's see here....
#10) Yeah, this fits a lot of societal expectations these days, especially _Shimoneta._
#9) _Jujutsu Kaisen_ made me worry about the whole concept of curses.
Eww...🤢
#6) Whoof.
Yay...
Buddy. Not every vampire in medias have the same weakness. Not all of them can be killed the same way. You could easily be a vampire in another way.
I mean, in the original book, Dracula wasn’t actually harmed by sunlight.
I would honestly count Cells at Work for #10.
Robin is backkk
As far as a fate worse then death is concerned, I'd say Monkey's Paw immortality is up there. Sure, eternal life is all well and good, but not when there's a Monkey's Paw styled catch to it!
The some anime characters with the worst fate:
1. Hyakkimaru from "Dororo"
2. Joseph from "The Ancient Magus's bride"
3. Kuro from "Servamp"
4. Nezuko from "Demon Slayers".
5. Victor from "The Duke And His Maid".
Bruh. I definitely feel their pain 💀
What about Guts?
@@ForrestFox626 Guts has the worst life
I know it's boring but i think Diavolo has the worst fate in anime/manga and nothing comes close

You mean the non existent thing
Yes From one none existing thing to another 👈👈 Danganronpa 3 and Saw 3D I have no idea what this show and movie is about
The "Eternal Suffering" fate also applies to Kars from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 2 Battle Tendency since he ends up encased in in stone after getting blasted into the vacuum of space by a volcanic eruption. Kars wished for death but nothing could give it to him.
Been too damn long since I’ve watched Anime America. Feels nice seeing a video from you guys again, especially a top 10 list
Another one for Becoming a Monster: Becoming a Ghoul from Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate
Well or TOkio Ghoul. being human but the organs of a ghouls which canonly process human meat. (Not to mention the torture in the manga)
@@lanteanboy Yuki remembers every single one... It was only a few thousand years or something though.
About the corpse party, that ritual was a sham for that one horrible person wanting to simp that one senpai
I'm just wondering how some didn't considering:
Being made into a demon AGAINST your will that wants to chow down on your remaining family members if you use your new powers - check!
Pretty sure that applies to turning into monsters
@@ForrestFox626 Probably but there's turning into monsters and there's turning into something a bit worse.
I haven't watched an anima America video in years Im glad your still here!❤🎉
Yay! I hadn’t seen a new video from you guys in so long. Great to see you again!❤
Depending on what happens after you die but thats to deep now😅
Good to see you again robin, ive missed your spooky videos

Another thing about the victims in Corpse Party, if they die, not only will they be forgotten, but they’ll never get to pass on, and be forced to suffer the pain of their death for eternity.
I like this approach, Robyn. It's a list of the fates... with examples as needed.
In D. Grayman, I always thought the exorcists could get a leg up on the Earl by forming grief counseling centers around the land.
11:44 HAA you can't bring GOOSH GOOSH here because the victim actually does die.
Yeah, but DEAR LORD if that isn't one of the worst ways to go.
Ainz is here! It's gonna be Great 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The fates I suggested were kind in the vain of curses and eternal suffering, but I put down in suggestions the Curse of the Blue Moon from the Case Study of Vanitas and Being a Living Doll from Shadow's House.
I get the feeling kars or Diavalo from jojo's bizarre adventure will be here.

The Jusenkyo curse is easy to live with, you just can't ever go swimming unless it's in a heated pool.

Glad you brought up Jadeite's fate in the 90s Sailor Moon anime because
HOLY CRAP!
23:49 To be fair, the Shadow Realm didn't exist in the original version as it was simply made up by 4Kids in order to replace death. So, I don't think it counts.
The Big 5 being trapped in the virtual world likely would've been the better choice in that regard...
@arilumani6194 Yeah. You are correct. I haven't read the manga in years.
Just to put things into perspective, Diavolo has very likely suffered all of the previous fates worse than death thousands if not millions of times by now.
For characters to suffer such horrific fates, they would’ve rather died instead. How sad and scary! 😱😭
For the last category, my favorite example is Kars from JoJo's Bizarre Adventures being shot into space for (possibly) eternity.
It's not that the abyss don't want you to go down, it don't want yout to get out. You can descent as much as you want in the abyss and nothing would happen, is getting out that triggers the curse
getting graped by goblins and then forced to be their baby machine until you die sounds like the worst one to me. Its Goblin Slayer btw.
@@Rosewolf29 Cursed to be a grape magnet because of your Weredeer genes. Aoshika from the Wolf Guy franchise.
@ another case of grape being worse than death
@@Rosewolf29 The 2007 Remake Manga is given the nickname "Grape" Namek because of a 14 chapter arc late in the story.
@ Primus, what is wrong with people?
The Happy Farm in Overlord is like that but way worse somehow
Sorry about the lack of uploads I have to get my laptop fixed.
The Nina Tucker Treatment.
I mean what happened to Kars is pretty messed up. Being immortal but sent into the void of space while still technically alive is pretty messed up.
not sure if it was confirmed or not but i believe devilman is also a time loop, quite the tragic ones, with only a handful of beings being able to see the loop but are often powerless to stop what is to come
The world of Shimoneta sounds like Denjis living hell
Good to see your videos!!!! Yes the Golden Wind infinite death for the villain.....man, I can't even wish it on the villain. that's just so cruel!!!!!!!!
Amazing video Robyn from anime America of fate worse then death in all of anime ever, fantastic job.
Imma just give a shoutout to my beloved Death Parade for the Working in the Afterlife segment too
No, it's not December yet Mariah! You stay frozen in that iceberg.
And you over there, put down that hairdryer.
Fuck you she’s unthawed already. She was unthawed weeks ago
overlord has some pretty messed up fates in it, especially in the light novel. the half elf worker and her human lover from the nazarik arena, for example? basically turned into meatballs to be skinned and butchered, only to regenerate and go through it again the next day. And don't forget Demiurges happy fun farm.
What is the name of the music that plays at 17:25?
Overlord's fates, especially of the Workers from season 3, ARE MUCH WORSE in the LN. And Team Foresight, the main group and closed things to "heroes" of the arc, get it the worst. Not just them but the people close to them have horrible fates. I don't recommend looking up the caster's fate in the Web Novel version, especially if you like Shalltear. All I'll say is, after a popular poll voted to keep her alive in the WN version, the author NEVER held a vote again.
I'm surprised Robin didn't bring up that Guts takes up two spots on this list.
what's the other spot? Never watched Berserk and don't plan to cause its way to gruesome for me to personally handle. I'm perfectly content just hearing about it from other people and videos like this.
@@yufi305 Literally the spot right after he was featured in. Guts early life was basically his stepfather using him as a child soldier to earn him money, and one night he sold him to another mercenary who SAed him.
@@tazmanianchocobo Yikes 😨😰
@@yufi305 Yeah, Guts' life is pretty much trauma from birth. Berserk does rightfully have a reputation for being dark, but the story is about growing out of that darkness.
@@tazmanianchocobo That is so sad, I've Heard the Character has had it really bad plenty of times, just didn't know all the details or that it was more then just getting betrayed and losing his friends and getting his girlfriend R-d in front of him all on the same day.
The concept sounds interesting, And I did try to watch it but again I just can't stomach it. and I think some of the dialogue and scenes I've seen are just hard to understand and its just not for me. Thank you for sharing things about it with me though, I really appreciate being able to learn about shows that I have hard time getting through but am so interested in.
As an avid DR fan, the Chisa comment is FACTS! Enjoy the DR franchise Robin, it's definitely a rabbit hole lol.
Really hitting it off here and also something to think about in those worlds also seen some similar ones in the honorable mentions in other anime.
