nice... I ordered one! I didnt know about the in circuit testing before I ordered it though. Need ot get those parts as well.
I'm in Coin-Op repair so this will come in super handy. As far as I know we dont have a way to test POKEYs other than a game that uses them. The fact that this thing can also test CPU's and RAM is great as well!
    Thanks for posting this video.

Your going to love it. I know I do. For boards that are socketed, it makes easy work diagnosing an issue. But yeah, sounds like we both are in need of some chip clips for the boards that aren't. It also has a Rom dumping feature I have yet to try out that could come in handy for you as well, seeing you deal with coin-op's.

I think it's an interesting product, and as you say - it's really the only choice in town for more casual fixers. I think that where this, as does the cheaper ones, falters somewhat is that it can't really test the analog properties of a signal. A chip tested as bad is definitely bad, but one that passes is more suspected of being good - though as long as one keeps that in mind, it should be a valued tool to have 😀

I like it, for the money you can't beat it. Worth it's weight in gold for logic chips. Agreed, custom chip testing varies, seeing it didn't pickup the ANTIC issue. The issue this ANTIC was having caused the address lines to get all jumpy causing the glitching on screen. The jumping of the address lines, and the graphical glitch jumping on the screen were in perfect sync. The address signals were there, which is what it tests for, so it passed. Although they are not right, proving analogue tests are not performed as you stated. But that's to be expected for a testing device in this price range.

That's pretty neat that it has a light up display. I haven't messed with chips yet and trying to understand them may take me a bit. There are a couple things I'm trying to work on where this may be helpful. I'll have to look into it for sure. Thanks for showing this and how to use it.

I'm loving it. Best purchase I've made since my oscilloscopes. You'll get the hang of diagnosing chips. You got it, no prob. 👍👍

How good is it at identifying chips e.g. where the numbers have been sanded off?

Good question, no it does not idenitify chips. You have to know what they are and select them. But there are other more expensive chip testers on the market that do.
