The Forest

The Forest.
Exactly thirty years ago my older brother started planting trees. The location was on 10 acres of land at my younger brother Bernie’s cottage in Ireland.
From several hundred saplings he continued his labour of love until he had planted over 5,000 trees.
They are mainly Ash and Oak, but also Hazel, Birch, Beech, Elder, Hawthorn, Alder, Cherry and Willow.
What was once an area of empty fields is now a beautiful forest and a unique habitat for many birds and insects, badgers and foxes.
In the year 2000 we tragically lost our brother Bernie but the forest, next to his cottage, lives on and the tress now tower strong and magnificent.
It is truly a testimony to the will and determination, the passion and love of nature that one person could single handedly create something so remarkable and beautiful.
When we visited, last month, I flew my drone around The Forest and made this video and accompanying music.
