In Australia I see the infamous E320 pretty often to be honest. So far it's been 50-50 with fault being either the sensor or the board. I usually pull out the board out and inspect those pins on the back that connect to the sensor.. can just be poor solder connection that's the problem. What bothers me is the most is price of a new sensor is half of a brand new outdoor board !
@@TaddyDigest Hey.. I got a bit of a A/C conspiracy theory to ask for your opinion. In the past few years I've noticed a lot of units with their main PC board + fans dying (eg. Daikin it's an L1 code error) It appears to be around that 10 to 12 year old mark. but maybe coincidently but this particular "out of the blue' fault seems to be happening to younger units of a few brands lately. I heard if a DC fan spin backwards (eg. from wind) it can generate voltage.. I'm assuming there's diodes or something that prevent these unknown spikes to take out boards and fans?? Like I said It may sound like Air con conspiracy but I'm not sure if the design fault is intended or just simply not corrected. The repair costs put a total replacement as a reasonable option but I can't see people spending thousands on a new ducted system every 7 - 10 years.
@@djfunkychicken I am looking at the repair cost and figuring this is going to cost me about 1k+. Gas recharge, clean vent, new PCB and new sensors (plus oz lbr rates). Units is 6 years old. Something is so wrong with complex sensors and electronics, like seriously, its a compressor with an on/off switch. Why do people keep making stuff complex, and too many points of failure?
Mine might run for days or weeks and then throws it. How can u tell if the charge is right without getting a tech out? I’m just an electrician but we don’t anyone local who knows much about these.
Great video thanks for the input. I measured the resistance and it was way out so I bought the a replacement OLP cable however I bought the wrong OLP cable as it it about 10cm too short in places. The cable took over a month to arrive and I really need my aircon working so I am reluctant to return it and wait for a replacement. I am pretty handy with a soldering iron and some shrink wrap so I was wondering anyone knows if splicing in an extra length of cable is likely to impact the sensor readings or if I am best to bite the bullet and get another cable? Alternatively, If I had the male connector end of the cable I could potentially use the old cable to extend it with the correct connectors. Thoughts?
If you lengthen the cable as long as you use the proper connectors and make a good connection then it will work You may want to order the right sensor and just make a temporary fix for now

Hi Ted thank you for all these informations it really helped But sometimes I changed the sensor and the main board also , I still have the problem. I think the resistance value of this olp sensor is between 200 to 400 ohms But my existing and new sensors are about 180 ohms in normal temperature. What you think about this?

Wow that's a crazy price... Yes you shut power off and wait fifteen minutes for capacitor bank on inverter board to trickle power. Then you locate sensor on dome of compressor locate sensor on coil and on discharge line and outdoor ambient. Replace
