- Watch me walk around the central area of Hanley past the best pubs, bars and clubs. Hanley is located is the central district of Stoke On Trent city centre, England, UK. This video was taken on Friday 6th October 23.
The time is just before midnight. #hanley #stokecitycentre #stokeontrent #hanleynightlife #nightlife #nightwalk #citywalk #citytour #hanleybars #hanleyclubs #hanleypubs
I left Stoke-on-Trent nearly 40 years ago and this looks quieter than a Tuesday night used to be. Weekends used to be heaving with people and we had loads of great clubs, like The Place and Chico’s and several others who I have forgotten the names of. There used to be huge queues at the taxi rank, where things usually kicked off.
I am now back in the area ( Newcastle to be exact) and it’s like the whole city has died.
Should be paying Ghost Town by the Specials 😎
I’ll have to go back on a Saturday night walk.
This town, is getting like A Dust Town, dha de da de dha, oooooh ooph ooh, getting like a Dusty Ghost town ,
just over 100 people not counting bouncers
on a Friday night
one cop van
back in the day 70s 80s
the black horse alone would have more people in it
than the whole of Hanley now
Thanks for the head count 👍
I went to the Black Horse in the 80s. It had a sign on the door: Bikers and Locals Only.
Yes it was a pretty lively place. I never saw any of the other clubs, but perhaps they were not up to much. It was a very run down town.
The main square used to have a huge 3 tier fountain in. And be rammed with people.
Hanley stopped being a safe/decent place to go for a drink in the 80s.
Thanks man, I used to walk around Hanley when I was in Uni. Sometimes just wanna go to Tesco to have a meal deal.
Really miss the town. Hope everything okay there! Have an amazing week! 😊
Stoke on Trent had really great nightlife about 35 years ago in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Its nightlife has gone steadily downhill since then!
Wow its dead, they use to close streets of because it was so busy such a shame Hanley use to buzzing at weekends
Used to love going out up Hanley duck. Besides the social problems, who can afford a night out?
You could blow a weeks food budget on a few beers! I'll stick to the off licence. Oh well, at least I don't have to queue for the toilets at home! 😂
Average cost of drinks in the pubs and bars? Minimum wage for the majority of expected customers? Results = this video.
Yes there’s a big difference between the price of alcohol in shops and pubs.
Where is everyone? Do most people stay at home now?
I stopped in Hankey for a kebab, before i could get to tbe sbop i was asked "do you want business?" wtf NO I WANT A KEBAB!
Where’s all the dustheads hiding
Very Quiet I'd say .
29th October 2023???
Well spotted, should be 6th October 23!
Thank you
Stoke , its all gone pete tong.
To dangerous be walking round hanley at night no pubs for me I’d rather stay home where I’m safe
Yes it’s not for everyone.
@@vloggingnomaduk I’m to old now for clubbing my nights out are over for me I’d rather have movie nights at home
@@lynseyleese7475Can't go wrong with movie nights 👍put the lamp on a nice dim setting and get nice and cozy
@@four-twenty4205 ohhh I do hun I do lol I turn my lamp off at night and I put movies on that’s what I prefer to do than going out drinking I wud rather keep my liver in tact lol
Most people now tend to go into stoke or castle , hanley was on a downward spiral from 2008 I was a doorman up there around then and the local council and police made it very hard for the pubs and clubs I worked in manhattans it was packed all the time but constant police walk around the business hours being reduced eventually saw the place shut down and the same is said for most of the decent venues the police got what they wanted
95% of this video is filming streets of shops, of course they are going to be empty late at night.
they are also empty during the daytime!
@@user-uv8bv4dm9f No they are not, you need to go to Derby , Wolverhampton to compare.
@@rogermoore-gd9doI live 1.5 miles from Hanley so I only need to go to ghost town to see how deserted it is. I gather that Hanley is by no means unique and there are many town centres that look like zombie film sets.
plenty of fanny queueing up to go in fiction ?
