I kind of wonder how many marriages could be stronger if women had better healthcare and men understood this process
Thank you so,so much, Penny! This is truly life saving information! I watched it in tears hoping I had watched it about 8 years ago when I became perimenopause and had zero idea about what was gradualy turning my mental and physical well being upside down. Ultimately, the rollercoaster of emotions and physical changes erroded my marriage of almost 25 years leading it to a recent divorce. It wasn't until very recently that I started listening to the HRT topic in more depth and putting the puzzle pieces together. It never ocurred to me that the overwhelming feeling of burnout, stress, lack of sleep, mood swings, lack of libido and everything in between could be related to my hormones. I was so busy raising kids, with the household, working outside the home etc. that I let myself down. I'm now working hard trying not to blame myself. Thank you for the candid and invaluable conversation. I'll make sure to share with friends and urge them to spread the word. It's my biggest hope that moving forward no woman/family will have to endure such unecessary pain.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!❤
Thank you for sharing your story, this comment could honestly change someone’s life!
I appreciate you being here and being part of this conversation 🥹💜
Thank you so much for sharing this Christina. It is so very helpful for other women to hear. The best thing for all of us to do is to keep on spreading the knowledge, support and love to our friends, sisters, daughters, colleagues, bosses, etc. x
Hugs Christina. Powerful information. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Just found out I have Interstitial cystitis after years of an urologist giving antibiotics for UTI’s. Finally went to a female Urogynecologist-game changer!!!
My doctor had told me that I had to go to an infectious disease doctor to determine why I was continuously having UTI’s. I knew that this was not the route I should go but, o had not clue until I saw Dr. Haver and she mentioned vaginal estrogen could completely eliminate them. I had been given vaginal estrogen by an OBGYN for painful sex but, I stopped because of two spinal fusions and two bone infections. I started the estrogen again a few months ago and no UTI’s!!
Amazing!
Thank you so much Dr. Haver!!
I am 63.
Im 67, been on hrt for 13 years. I was lucky to have a female obgyn who dismissed the cancer connection and took my symptoms and quality of life seriously. Thanks for posting this, ladies, educate your doctors.
Mid 60's and maybe too late for me (had the "no hormone replacement because of family breast cancer") ugh. Shared this video with my daughters! One of which is a MD, and told me her department had rounds on menopause and HRT. She's concerned with the under education of an issue that affects half of the population! And loves the term menoposse.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you thank you thank you.
I stopped going to doctors completely because I was tired of the gaslighting and antidepressants being their only answer.
Also, I’m sick of health care providers asking me what I want them to do. I’m an electrician, if I got a service call for someone’s breaker constantly tripping I wouldn’t show up and ask the client what they wanted me to do.
this is so to the point. Have a look at Penn's interview with Dr, Corinne Menn. She works with MyAlloy, the online telehealth menopause company. She's representative of the doctors they have on their team. It's affordable and they are KNOWLEDGEABLE (Dr. Haver endorses them as well) th-cam.com/video/SJFoPFfOlwI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8zx1s9NeUAORYq7-
I’m so fortunate to have found a top menopause specialist 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. And not because of the cancer. Psychologically and physically, I didn’t want to live anymore. Thank God for these brilliant women who are bringing the TRUTH to the front of our discussions about HRT our health & our well being!
Hey!! I’m SO GLAD you’re here too!!! I adore you!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE 😘🌹💯👍🏼same!
I had a complete hysterectomy including my ovaries at age 38. I’ve been on low dose Estrogen since I had it, but I’ve gained 100+ lbs, I’ve developed Hashimotos hyperthyroid and Celiac disease. I eat really well but cannot lose the weight! It’s so frustrating since I’m 53 with a 17 year old daughter with no energy and wearing around an extra person. I literally feel hopeless in getting my self back. I’m hoping I can find something someday…. I’ll try to see if her book has any answers. Thank you for doing this. Sweating in Portland. 😘🥵
I am 61 and GAVE UP trying to get help at 54 so I had to go find my own natural way to deal, pro/pre biotics/ Silk Soy and monistate every day to prevent UTI that were constant for a year after not having any for 20 years. The medical community adds insult to injury without fail! I had a partial hyso at 37. We don't have babies so we are not the $ makers and only now are people like you talikg about this w/out making jokes about a SERIOUS part of a biological woman's life, thank you!
Penny, thank you for sharing this wonderful information. It took me almost 4 years of battling several doctors to get the HRT. I’ve been on it for the last 6 months and what a difference!!!
Thank you so much, going to share this with my daughters and granddaughters. I am 71 and have been on compounded HRT for at least 20 years. I am in good health and walk at least an hour daily with some light weights 3X a week. Fortunately I have a doctor that supports me in this aging process:))
OMG this is mind blowing info. My health journey is a mirror of all the "stuff" she mentioned from being victim of the debate 20 years ago to current symptoms & cancer etc etc. Just from watching this I am spreading this info to everyone from 28-65. Such important conversations!! Count me in on the next retreat. When and where?
It is is Galveston January 2025. I’ll be there too!!

Hi Penny thank you for this amazing and informative discussion. This truly was a extremely interesting and I would love to know more about vaginal estrogen. Thanks again,
Men need to listen to this discussion so that they can better support their partners, this is really important information.
We would love to hear more about naturopathic menopause support ❤

Thank you Penny and panel for all the work and effort to provide information and insight on this important topic which I will utilize with my healthcare provider. The time spent on in depth skincare and healthy living so we can be the best versions of ourselves is appreciated Penny!
Honest to goodness this is the best video that came out of all the amazing videos you guys made at the Creator House. I teared up, thinking about all the pain and heartache. I could’ve saved myself how I had this information when I was perimenopausal and menopausal. I’m the same age as Angie and this is coming to me a little too late although I have happily been on bioidentical hormones for the past five years. My first dose was way too low, but I finally got a Doctor Who heard me and upped all my dosage. What a difference that made.
I must applaud Justin for being there and participating! It makes such a difference when men listen to what we have to say about menopause. I was happy that my husband began to participate more as time went on, and he saw my symptoms as a health concern rather than a loss of libido or whatever it’s a conversation that really needs to be had between couples because, I think a lot of men take it personally and think you just don’t love them anymore or are attracted to them anymore or whatever. In the meantime, we are psychologically and physically struggling with the body. That is very unfamiliar to us. Bravo to all of you for this extremely important conversation. I am so impressed with this doctors knowledge and perspectives
I appreciated this discussion. My 50’s are definitely my best decade due to people like all of you ( and a few others of course) who opened the dialogue and educated me! I AM forever grateful from the bottom of heart. Bless you all ❤ Elle
Our 50’s are so great, right? I’m so thankful to you and this community 🥹
Thank you for being here (from the bottom of *my* heart!)
I have endometriosis. It is driven my estrogen and it was severe. I am retired from medical field and had access to many physicians. I have had mixed response to my using estrogen … some say it’s ok and many, even the drug representatives for vaginal estrogen say “don’t touch it”. I have known those who have never used HRT and those that have that developed breast cancer. I’m almost 72 so wouldn’t begin at this age although I do believe topical estrogen for genitourinary issues would be helpful. I wish I had known this 30 years ago and thank goodness Dr Haver is here🤗

THIS WAS AMAZING PENN!!! I FELT HAPPY AT ALL THIS WONDERFUL RESEARCH & I FELT FURIOUS AT THE POLITICS OF IT ALL! IT IS TIME FOR THE OLD GUARD TO RETIRE & SET THE TRUTH FREE! You have truly done ur part in pushing womens’ health forward!!! Thank u so very much👏🏻🙏🏻❤️
I love this - what a gorgeous sentiment!!
Thanks for this invaluable knowledge, thank you for showing it to us and I have to feel so grateful for finding a good and professional doctor that prescribed me HRT here in Spain ❤️
I have watched this interview twice now. I am so mad I didn't know any better when my doctor took me off my oral estrogen after being on it for 10 years. I have been miserable ever since. I finally begged and she did agree to put me back on because I had only been off 2 years. Thank you for bringing this topic to the forefront! May my nieces never have to go through this and rist their health without estrogen.
No coincidences Penn, I ordered two of her books a few days ago. 💕 Thank you for all that you do, as a retired Esthetician, I so appreciate all the excellent information you provide. Blessings to you🙏🏻🤗
Thank you for being here! It means a lot to me 🥹
Oh my gosh! You got to talk to Dr Mary Claire Haver personally! I’m fan girling! Both of you have been instrumental on my perimenopause journey and destigmatizing HRT 🙌🏼💛
She is honestly one of my idols 🤩
Thank you for your kind words, and I’m SO happy to have played any part at all in the destigmatization of HRT! 😍
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE you’ve been pretty genius at taking your brand as a skincare specialist and using it to platform women’s healthcare topics that just don’t get talked about enough. I honestly only started to consider HRT when you mentioned it and then I found Dr Haver to fill more details from the medical perspective. Thank you 🙏🏼
@@ShailaBano It went the exact same way for me. I have so much respect for Penn and all she does for us.
Ladies 😭😭😭😭😭
Same! ❤
Awesome discussion love it all! Thank you I would love to see more of these discussions 💞
Wow. Just. Wow. I have been menopausal since age 40, and have suffered horribly from hot flashes. I am now 68. At one point I said, "maybe, if I get breast cancer, I will die. If I do not sleep, I definitely will die." So a practitioner gave me Ambien. (I am a RN, so I know a little bit.) I have taken everything; pills, patches, bio-identical hormones, even Prempro (which I resisted because its method of manufacture is abhorrent), and nothing worked. I gave up. I'm flashing as I type this. I am depressed, miserable, unmotivated. Maybe I was under-dosed? Maybe the practitioners were idiots. I probably saw 10 of them. On Monday I will call a local provider who is an NCMP, and seek relief, once again.
I have had several conversations with Dr Haver and I was SO thankful that Angie was in this one, we focused on perimenopause (where I am) and post menopause (where Angie is). Now I know that you (Nancy) can possibly get relief even though it’s been many years- with a nuanced conversation with your doctor, no plaque in your arteries and good heart scan you should be good to go (clearly I’m simplifying but you know what I mean). That’s SO EXCITING.
I hope you do make that call Monday and I’ll be cheering for you!!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thanks. I appreciate your response. I am hoping that a menopause certified practitioner can help.
Love love love ALL of this! ❤ Happy 45 year old perimenopausal patient of My Alloy (previously gaslit and misdiagnosed for 2.5 years elsewhere)and huge fan of you and Dr. Haver! Just got her new book too. Hugs Penny!
Love this video! So important for the future health of women!!! Thank you all!
This is so awesome. Thanks for doing this.
I appreciate you immensely !
Thank you Lena for being here!! 😍
Fantastic. Thank you so much for the generosity of your time and the honesty of your candor. We love you!
Thank you so much!
This was so very good. Thank you so much for sharing this. Its going to make such a difference for so many lives!❤❤
what a gorgeous thing to say!!
Thank you for that. I just signed up for her website and ordered her book. I appreciate this kind of content
I’m so glad to be helpful in any way! This was such an honor to do, and I appreciate you being here ❤️
Thank you so much Penn for sharing. 😘💕💕This is wonderful and glad that younger women will hopefully get more help than my generation. I’m 64 just starting BHRT and glad you and confirming my decision. I had obgyn put me on ssri s , my primary care woman Dr thinks we should age naturally. Hard to know when your doctor is giving you bad advice and your headspace is so messed up you believe them. Glad to have finally seen the light - You tube !
I’m So Excited for All of you!! Congratulations on the event gathering with so many Amazing creators!! Thank you for this Health information and advocacy. I was told last year I was not perimenopausal, having out of control symptoms including heavy periods at 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off, was told I have several cysts and fibroids with possible endometriosis and would need to consider a hysterectomy because the ablations would only be temporary. This year with a different dr( because I moved) I was told I’m in menopause. He did an exam and said he didn’t feel any fibroids large enough to cause concern ( just with physical exam). Scheduled zero tests, ultrasounds etc except for bloodwork and told me to come back in three years. Because of my pushback, he offered Effexor. I have made an appointment with a different dr.
I've been watching you since you were on your live with Gabi last year! I loved the extra touch you added with the information in the edit.
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing this great educational presentation. I am sharing with all of the women in my life (younger, same age, or older) that could truly benefit from this information. Keep up the amazing work to offer women the truth and to give them viable option and tools to deal with so many challenges that come with our aging process to help us be as healthy and as happy as possible for our entire life.
I love it that Justin is there! My husband has spoken to my neighbor, who is like a mom to him (his died when he was a child) about menopause and about what to maybe expect with me, and has brought up to me things to consider after learning more about it. Love an engaged partner!
I have sent this video to so many of my friends and family! Another amazing video brought to us by our favorite.. Penn Smith! Thank you and all involved for this wonderful, informative video!
I'm one who didn't know I went through menopause. I'm finding a Dr on Monday!
I just love you Lynn!!
@PENNSMITHSKINCARE ... another reason you are awesome... you love me. Thank you! Big hugs!
What a great crew. We’ve watched PS and HnF for years but will try the others.
Also, check out MENOPAUSE TAYLOR. She was the FIRST to come on TH-cam and give a free education through her videos. Because of her, I got my life back! I am 58 and have been post-menopausal for 15 years. I wanted to die before educating myself about HRT. THANK YOU, GOD!
Penn, you are incredible.
I have been on HRT since your last video with Dr Haver, last year.
I got a new ob-gyn and have been following all the doctors of the “menoposse” since then.
This is all thanks to you making this knowledge accessible to your followers. I have no words to thank you enough.
Wow!! This makes me want to
😭😭
I’m so happy for you, and really touched.
Dr Haver (and the menoposse) are literally changing the world 🥹
Penn- you did such an amazing job with all of this. I have been on HRT since 2016, really fighting to be treated (still am in a way). I have been spreading the word to all my peers and refer them to you & MCH. You are such a wealth of information to get this out there! xxxo
Thank you so much! The more women who get the information the better!
Excellent discussion. Dr Haver is a Godsend to women; she’s phenomenal! Such an amazing role model and advocate for women. Angie is very well read and knowledgable; she asked such intelligent useful questions to help guide the conversation. Penn, you did such a remarkable job, covering so many aspects of the topic with your insightful well researched questions.
I was thrilled to see all of the folks in this group and have long been a follower of everyone. This group discussion was so helpful and not long enough; it should be a series. Please do more of these. This is such essential information.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment 😍
I appreciate you!!
Loved watching this again ! Thank you. A few years ago. I had a few zoom sessions with Dr Barbie Taylor ❤
Dr Taylor is a rockstar!!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE yes, I love sessions with Dr Barbie 😍
Great video- I just ordered the Galveston Diet Meals affiliated with the Dr) no hormones, antibiotics, gluten, wheat, soy(I’m allergic), dairy, unrefined sugars.
This will help with my high inflammation. So excited to receive these meals!!!❤
Penny, Thank you so much for releasing this video to your subscribers. I've learned a lot!!! I ordered the book. As a direct result of this video, I have shared the important information with my 40 yr old daughter and my 82 year old mother. You have just saved three people from suffering and have helped us to advocate for ourselves in our health care. Many BLESSINGS ~ Kimber(Your Austin, Texas Sister)🥰🙏
Oh my gosh!!
😭
Many many blessings to YOU, your mom and your daughter 🥹❤️
wow. that's so powerful. 🥰
I am so mad at this. I had a complete hysterectomy at 42. Went through immediate menopause. Felt terrible. Tried to get help from my regular doctor and they put me on lexipro. Gained so much weight. Finally at age 56 I was so sick of feeling terrible I decided to do the research and fix it myself after asking my doctor to help. So I started eating different only Whole Foods and walking. Felt a little better lost 40 lbs. Still overweight at age 58 I decided I would try something different and read about how much protein I needed and started lifting weights. Also went to a hormone doctor that I have to pay out of pocket for that. Got my hormones right, lifted weights 6 days a week. I lost 60 lbs in a year. I’m feeling much better. I stopped taking lexipro when I started lifting weights. I’m a little concerned about the cardiovascular though because I did not get checked to see if I had build up. I feel much better, healthy and I’m in best shape of my life at 61. I’m so tired of doctors telling women just deal with it your getting older.
Such a good job taking your health into your own hands! I am proud of you!
Very great discussion
I’ve watched this video TWICE. It’s so informative. My most outward perimenopause symptom (self diagnosed, so said with caution) is heart palpitations. When I started having palpitations for days on end, literally non stop, I began a very dissatisfying journey into testing. I have been amazed and dismayed at the medical field when dealing with, not just “women’s health” but women in general. I have been dismissed and considered over reactive. For example, when my husband had a heart issue the doctor saw him immediately, sent him to a cardiologist within days and developed a plan. When I started having issues, I was sent to the emergency room but then was sent home, saw my doctor a week later who referred me to a cardiologist who did not get me in for 2 weeks. He gave me a week long heart monitor, which definitely showed information, but did not get me in for a stress test for another 4 to 5 weeks.
Anyway, I’m just venting. Thank you again, Penny, for diving into this issue. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know that I would have recognized the possibility that this is a menopausal symptom. I have hope again that there might be something I can do, and I have resources to arm myself. ❤
Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I'm going to spread the word to my girlfriends!
That’s wonderful!! We are a strong group!!
You guys are the best! Women need to be exposed to to all of the great information out there!
Thank you! And I agree!
Just bought her new book on Amazon 😊 great video!!!
Yay! And thank you ❤️
I would LOVE to know the truth about what my dr told me. I am 53, had a complete hysterectomy in 2016. My dr said no HRT because I had pre cancerous cells. Now I have SO much joint pain and belly fat. I was also adopted. So he didn’t want to take a chance on HRT. 👑✝️🙏❤️
Same here. I'm 51 and had a complete hysterectomy in 2003 due to endometriosis. Dr said hrt wasn't safe. Developed diabetes at 30. Fast forward to last year I had a massive heart attack and luckily survived. I'm carrying 30 extra pounds in my belly and suffering severe depression. ❤
Penn, I loved this, I've been trying to figure out my health or the lack there of for years, I'm 69 and had a hysterectomy when I was 33. Last year I asked my Nurse Practicioner to put me on HRT and vaginal estrogen, and she did. In October on the 29th I went into heart failure and was admitted to the hospital for 6 days. So I took off the patch and have not used it or the vaginal estorgen since. Watching this I put a patch on and used my vaginal estrogen. I knew better, I've been a follower of Dr. Christine Northrup, who is of the same mind set as you Dr. on this show. I'm going to get her book as soon as I can. I'm doing very well with my heart, but literally nothing else...I could go on for and on but I've said enough thank you for this. I Look forward to more❣
Oh Kathy…I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been through that last year! I hope you are feeling better very soon…and I hope your patch helps!
I’m 72, I was in the Wiley Protocol and decided to scale down to static dosage, I’m happier and I feel healthier!!
That’s so wonderful!!
Very interesting and informative. The discussion easily could have gone on for another hour or two, and not run out of important information.
So I just did microneedling at home w PR0 and now get to hear you with Dr. Haver and I just started pellet BHRT in January this year at 61 after suffering w menopause for several years and being denied and put on pain pills for 6 years by male primary care doctor. I left Management last fall and got a new doctor and feel better when I have in 15 years.
Oh my gosh I’m so glad you’re feeling better!! Good for you! ❤️
My mom was on HRT for years...she now has advanced osteoporosis and in the final stage of Alzheimers...she is 82

I was in tears while listening to this in my sauna, lol! Definitely need to rehydrate after that🤣🤣. Thank you for caring and spreading the word. You all are definitely changing women’s lives for the better.😘
I feel like I'm lost in the ocean here - due to chronic illness i have dysautonomia and i had a hysterectomy at 38. I have no clue where I'm at as far as menopause goes.. so many of the sx associated with menopause also cross over with this busted body I've got that no one wants to treat 😮💨 i don't even know where to begin
I am so thankful for you Penny. This interview was a wealth of information. I see positive changes because you and others are getting the word out there. Let's go Menopause Mavericks!! 🤼♀🙋♀🦸♀
Would love to hear more about the “outliers” and how to manage symptoms. I’m 46 and have hormone positive breast cancer. I’m a dietitian and personal trainer, have lifted heavy weights for 30 years and always eaten healthy, zero alcohol ever. I have osteopenia and peri-menopausal with tons of night sweats and hot flashes the past 5 years or so. After I’m done with radiation my oncologist suggested removal of ovaries and taking aromatase inhibitor. How do I manage the symptoms when I have to block all hormones? He said even the raspberry leaf tea that seemed to help with my night sweats may not be the best idea. Basically any supplement that helps symptoms he suggested I avoid.
Love this Penny 💕
😍❤️
Thank you for being here and being part of the conversation ❤️❤️
I believe that it is imperative to stay onHRT in old age after a surgical menopause, because I stopped for only five years and everything bad happened drying out uti insomnia brain fog frozen shoulder and lots body aches macular degeneration list is long you absolutely need the hormone for life
I've heard that if you've had a hysterectomy, that HRT is less risky. I'm 49 and I'm getting some symptoms, such as weight that won't budge even with diet and exercise and urinary incontinence/urgency.
Great chat!
It's less risky bc you don't need progesterone if you don't have a uterus. Some people thought the progesterone led to a slightly increased risk of breast cancer.
Thank you so very much 😊😊😊❤
You are so welcome!
I will be looking into getting hèr book
Awesome video! Could you link or timestamp the online clinics Mary recommends for HRT? Thanks!
Both listed above in Penn's menopause Toolkit link.. .
Thank you 🎉🎉
You’re welcome 😊
Hey, sweetie, I am also on the HRT train as of a few years ago but a bumpy ride and because of a number of the issues discussed not sure where I am atm. 😅 At 61, I went in for what I thought was a UTI but even after antibiotics still had issues. Saw a urologist and told I had a cyst and to use a tube of vaginal estrogen. Still felt irritated after one tube. Told to just continue using. Started researching symptoms which led to HRT and down a rabbit hole I went and many books, articles and studies later I realized that a number of my other complaints over the years were related to menopause - heart palpitations, brain fog 😶🌫️ , headaches, sleeplessness, etc. Asked my dr at Kaiser and was given oral estrogen and progesterone. Been on them a couple years, 65 now 🤭 and at the standard dosage. I had an endometrial ablation at 48 so I have no idea when I would have gone into ‘menopause’. I don’t know if I was within the ten year timing window when I started. I didn’t have a calcium score or any scans done of my arteries. We have met long time ago when I drove down to see my son when he lived in Vancouver, so you know I am not a big person and I am active. I quit smoking some time ago and drink only a couple times a year. I have low cholesterol, low blood pressure and am not diabetic. No family history of heart attacks or strokes. My little sister mentioned she had a blood clot in her leg and been hospitalized so I have asked to be switched to the patch. Will see how that goes.
Thanks so much for putting this on your channel! It is important information! 💕
I have been struggling so much in peri with massive hair loss and acne after getting off the pill. I want to start dating but I have no confidence. I distrust my doctors are capable of more than symptom chasing. Anyone know someone in the Dallas (frisco) area? God bless you all bc I have leaned on all of you for information over the years❤️❤️❤️
I had bariatric surgery at 59. I just turned 60. Hysterectomy (ovaries were left) at 29. So getting protein, drinking enough water, calcium is tough. My diabetes has almost reversed (A1C of 10.2 to 5.6 in 4 months after surgery. I was a diabetic for 25 years). I do not exercise. I was 232 pounds , now holding at 131 pounds. It’s been a little over 1 year. I don’t know where to start. I do have shoulder pain, urinary tract issues (even got a neurostimulator for it)and some mental health issues. So overwhelming for someone who seems to ‘be passed’ the HRT start time. Any suggestions? Trying hard to get healthier…
Thank you for this conversation. I just wish she wouldn’t talk so fast, like she’s hyped up in caffeine. 😵💫 It’s hard to really grasp all the great info when a person runs through it that fast. About calcium, I have heard the same that calcium supplements can cause calcification in other areas. However what about vitamin K2?? Why was this not mentioned? I understand it helps to send calcium to the bones. (I’ve paused the video at about 37 minutes to make this comment, so if K2 is mentioned later just ignore me 😊). Also there is boron and silica that are supposed to help with BMD.
Penny, do you have suggestions for estrogen products that can be used on face? Or is that something a person gets from their doctor?
This is all such good and important information, but I forgot to mention one thing in my previous comments-please research Premarin or Prempro before going that route. Not because the medications themselves are dangerous that I’m aware of, but because the production of Premarin products is very detrimental to the horse population. If you are a horse lover, as I am, it was a non-negotiable for me. I went bioidentical and I’m satisfied with my results.
I agree a million times over! I can’t even believe any doctors still prescribe those meds!!
Thank you so much for this - I have had many medical issues and to think maybe menopause is to blame and HRT can help!!!
Will be taking a different approach to my health care…
Can you please share where your top is from at the beginning of the video black with the fuchsia pink trim? 😊🌈☀️
I am so glad this video was helpful! My top is from Amazon (only $20!!) amzn.to/3RFH6PR I bought it in several colors 😊
My doctor just prescribed me Estriadol patches but im 64 and i haven't been on it in at least 5 years. Im scared and theres no one to help me. I have the book The New Menopause but i dont know if its too late to start again.
EXCELLENT

that's such a good idea. We'll look into it. Do you know of a lot of women who you would share with if it were in Arabic?
Love Mary Claire Haver 🎉❤
Me too 😍
😥 OMGsh Penn, I wish I had known about this years ago. I'm about to be 57 and was concerned about HRT. Can you or does the book address women who have had endometriosis and if that would be a contraindication? Also, I would love to learn more about HRT for men. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!🥰
Also, I'm going to watch this again with my husband.
I’m going to ask about this!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thank you
Would fibromuscular dysplasia in the carotids be considered a similiar risk to atherosclerosis in the carotids when determining if HRT Is safe?
Is there a trained clinician in Australia?? And if not, can we train one to test like Dr MC?!❤
started hrt when I was probably 51 or 52 then stopped it when I heard all the nonsense 😢. I am now 58 and want hrt am I a good candidate I didn’t hear that question asked. My health is good I do excercise Mon-fri . I take no medications!I actually just got my blood drawn this AM and asked my doctor to check my blood to see if I could get on hrt. He said ok and he knew about the study and how it had been skewed. 🙌🙌🙌
From my conversations with Dr Haver…..it is a nuanced conversation with your doctor but you absolutely should be able to get back on HRT if your heart and arteries are good!
That’s my take-away. Obviously your doctor will know but it’s a million percent worth pursuing (relentlessly in my opinion!!)
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thanks again for this conversation it was super and thanks for your information on skin. I’ve learned so much from you 💞
Already in my 60's and have not had any HRT, so I would need to have a Calcium Cardiac Score (CT Scan of heart) or an ultrasound to check my carotid arteries for plaque. When you run these tests on your patients, are these tests "typically" covered by insurance? I know you can't say definitely, but you would know whether claims for these tests are typically rejected. Thank you.
I can ask!
I would have liked to heard her thoughts on hormone therapy versus natural hormone therapy? Are both beneficial?
The UK has a different approach to prescribing doctors on the NHS there is a central body dictating policy. I don't exactly know if it was my GPS taken on it. But I can't take hrt just for preventative reasons. Eg you have to have a symptom. The risks I was told needs to be worth it. And I can't get bioidentical hormones. I argue that I still wanted to take hrt. I was taken off the tablets as they are higher risk I was told, given patches. However if I had argued and cited a load of research papers from pubmed I'm not sure I'd have been given hrt as I have no symptoms. We have incontinencies within countries, between doctors and internationally. Then we have the rise of misinformation and misinformation on social media. When I said I watch an American Dr my GP just laughs. That's a different system I'm told. Why is life so complicated. Makes me the patient more unsure and stressed with advice.
What's crazy is vaginal estrogen cream is otc in many parts of europe!!!
I know!!
Am I too old for HRT? I have severe Hotflashes severe dripping😫 bad sleep and debilitating joint pain. My docs don't care. I asked several times for a blood test. Had my only child with 42 ... no more period. I am very depressed and anxious on 2 meds, One since the child.
I think you should keep asking until you get a doctor who will run the tests to see (heart and arteries).
You are NOT too old for HRT if your heart and arteries are good (this is just my layperson understanding)….and if you are having those symptoms you deserve to find out!!!
I took Prempro throughout my menopsu. In my 60s I developed breast cancer and needed a double mastectomy. They cut too deeply into my nerves and I am now in pain all time 😒 with a need for pain meds I hate taking. Could this be connected. I should mention my maternal grandmother died from breast cancer.
I’m so very sorry you went through that and continue to suffer 😔😔😔
80% & the most common type of BC is driven by estrogen (ER+). I had this & my Onco said no to any extra estrogen after BC. I believe there is not enough data/studies to confirm/deny that HRT can exacerbate estrogen driven BC.
@@beautifulvictory9683I had ER+ breast cancer 9 years ago and was on the patch and progesterone pills…I’m 73 years young right now. My oncologist at UCSD told me that the estrogen fed the cancer. No more for me.
So cn you use vsginal estrogen while on oral or gel estroogen?
Yes!!
Is there a minimun estrogen level for prevention of dementia, cardio issures, and bone loss that you are aware of? I don"t want to find out in 10 years that the levels that my doctor has perscribed for me were not sufficient. Thank you,
I want to know why it’s dangerous to take estrogen if you already have plaque in the arteries.
I’ll ask! I don’t want to try and explain what I think (because I might have it wrong).
Ok I just saw an Instagram post she did that explained some- instagram.com/reel/C7AesELpvIE/?igsh=eTU2NWNmZ3dzNHVq
Watch that, it may help!
Don't forget thyroid it's part of the hormonal package
I’ve had two blood tests done ,a year apart , And I test post menopausal but yet I still have had periods every month .My male obgyn has no clue what’s going on. Has anyone else experienced this ?
Please consider getting a second opinion!
I’m 55 and I’ve never been offered HRT by my ob gyn , should I asked for a prescription?
Ask them to watch this video and then have a conversation!!
@@nancypreston7966 I wish it was so easy. A doctor is not going to take their time to watch a video and sit and discuss it with a patient. Thank you for the suggestion.
@@milariestoro5890maybe consider trying one of the services that Dr Haver mentioned? Penn has them in her Menopause Toolbox, linked above? MIDI takes insurance
I need more of this info!!! Is 72 to late to start working on this???
No way is 72 too late!!!
Where do you find more info???@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE
Penny, I am 61 years old. I have been post menopausal since age 53. I took an estrogen pill (I think it was a birth control pill) for a few years, but haven’t in a while. I want HRT!! I want estrogen and testosterone. My doctor is a good one, but only gave me the pill for hot flashes. I want my whole body protected and I am angry that I was not informed and am now 61!!! I should have known about this 20 years ago! I am so disappointed in the overall medical community. Thank goodness there are some awesome female doctors coming forward and advocating for us! I could cry. Thank you for this video. I’m still watching as I write this. I feel like I’ve lost so much already…bone, muscle, protection from disease. Grrrrr…!!!
But it’s not too late! I’m pissed for you (I promise!! Too many years and deceived women) but you have a lot of life left and you have options friend!!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thank you my dear. I have tears in my eyes. I plan to make an appointment with an informed HRT specialist. 🩷🩷🩷🩷
This is my EXACT same story! I'm 58, have lost so much bone, have osteoporosis and have lost 4" in height, and physically I lost all skin tone and forget about any physical intimacy. I went through menopause at 40. My primary doctor told me they didn't believe in HRT.
@@wendywoobles Wendy, I don’t know why doctors are SO behind the times. It is outrageous. I feel like really good HRT docs are in big cities and I live in a smaller town. I will travel anywhere I need to go to find out what I can do now. My best to you in your journey. Let’s be proactive!
