2:24 Why should women in perimenopause/menopause consider taking HRT?
3:47 Why are so many doctors so ill informed about HRT, why so much confusion, fear, uncertainty, and doubt around the topic of HRT?
7:32 What are the different options for HRT for women who live in the United States?
13:36 How are HRT estrogen and progesterone made?
14:04 Should a person use HRT if they have zero menopause issues?
15:20 Did a study came out recently about the correlation between night sweats and severe night sweats and heart attack?
18:43 I’ve heard that doctors should never give oral estrogen because it increases the risk of clots, Is that true?
20:06 Is it essential for all women who supplement with estrogen to also take progesterone?
20:28 If someone is in menopause, officially ie no cycle for over a year, is it safe to take progesterone alone without taking estradiol for its benefits such as sleep, etc?
21:30 Why would I need to take vaginal estrogen on top of regular HRT
22:27 Why is it that if you're using a facial cream with estradiol in it that that is not systemic, but you can use transdermal gel or whatever and it IS systematic?. What's the difference?
23:47 Can HRT reverse existing hair decline or just slow new decline?
25:34 What's the cause of waking between 2 and 4am nightly?
27:14 What is the importance go Magnesium?
28:51 What are the benefits and side effects of adding testosterone?
32:35 Birth control, pregnancy and HRT. Is it okay to take a low form of birth control? So that estrogen doesn't deplete?
33:13 Why do women gain belly fat during menopause?
34:20 This is a question on HRT dosing and duration. I've seen studies that have shown that HRT has the most benefits for about 10 years from the start of menopause. Is that true?
35:15 I know that there's a lot of people watching that are 10 years post menopause. Is there anything that they can do?
36:02 If I'm 42 and don't have any symptoms but want to prevent symptoms, what would you recommend?
37:38 What is the best moment to start or even to start thinking about HRT?
38:54 Here's a question about testing for menopause and symptoms of menopause. I think that this is important to address... is that you don't have to test for menopause.
40:35 Heart disease. What's the connection between heart disease and menopause?
41:51 What is the link between osteoporosis and menopause?
43:20 Are there any side effects of HRT?

I am 68. I begged, begged and begged for HRT. I wasn't sleeping, and I went bald. I was refused repeatedly because "it won't help much and the risks are too high." I took in print-outs of the actual research - which I am positive ended up in the trash. So, yeah. It's really upsetting to find out that, at 68 and 15 years post-menopause, I'll never be able to recapture the protective effects of the therapy I was denied. Definitely getting your book, Dr. Haver, so I can figure out what to do about it now!

I feel your pain sister! That almost happened to me. But luckily I was able to finally find someone to listen. I even went to a so-called "menapause specialist" who promptly took me off the estrogen my previous doctor had given me. So I was without estrogen for a couple of years until I felt so miserable that I literally broke down in front of my obgyn, who agreed to put me back on estrogen. Now, with an appointment coming up tomorrow, I am afraid she is going to try and take me off them. I'm going to be 63.

@@debgilbert3206 Just because it's "Natural" doesn't make it healthy! This is a real bigotry problem. If you are low in testosterone, they supplement with testosterone. If you are low in thyroid, doctors give you thyroid. But if you're low in female hormones, suddenly the risks are too high!? It's outrageous, Deb. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Same thing happened to me. I was offered valium before estrogen! Finally I got referred to one of the top Drs in Australia (professor Eden) who treats women (even those with cancer) who are on HRT. He said he wants to sue the authors of the 2002 study that said HRT was too dangerous for women. He said it was a very badly designed study and it is STILL impacting women negatively. But general physicians still abide by it.

If you have any bladder or vag symptoms, know that you can use RX vaginal estrogen. It’s important in the long-term prevention of chronic UTIs. There are many women in nursing homes because of damage to their brain done by chronic UTIs. It’s called delirium. Delirium is like a ‘brain fever’ that happens during severe infection and sepsis. This happened to my mom.

Only half way through video but don’t want to forgot to comment on some things for clarification. First, she’s doing a pretty good job of explaining things overall 👏🏻
I’ve been treating Menlo and perimeno women for over 25 yrs so she has more time to fine tune and learn.
    1. Progesterone and progestin are NOT the same thing. Progesterone is what the body makes and is needed for fertility. Progestin tricks the brain into thinking you are pregnancy so you don’t ovulate.
    3. Oral contraceptives with progestin prevent pregnancy. Progesterone helps pregnancy.
    4. Oral contraceptives reduce ovarian cancer because it stops ovulation and activity of ovaries
    5. Compounding pharmacies are NOT unregulated. They must follow compounding regulations. The reason why conventional docs are still poo pooing compounding pharmacies is indoctrination. When WHI study came out and MDs pulled all their HRT, Wyeth (makers of Premarin and prempro) lost an enormous amount of $$$$. Since then BigPharma has been in a mission to crush compounding pharmacies in a variety of ways WITH the help of the FDA (FDA is funded >45% from big Pharma as high as 75%)
6 related to above: as MDs stopped hormones, women turned to compounding pharmacies for their bio identical
    Hormones.
7 Progestin was what increased cancer risk the MOST in the WHI study not progesterone.
8 outside of US, estriol is frequently used. It is an estrogen that does not have metabolites that can turn into more carcinogenic estrogens in individuals with predisposition to metabolize estrogens with more difficulty. Estriol also has studies on bone density, brain health including impact on patients with MS (multiple sclerosis)
9 You will likely not hear about estriol on US because it can NOT be patented. No bio identical molecule can be patented or “approved by the FDA”. Estradiol is bio identical BUT the delivery system of a patch is patented and so FDA can approve it. Don’t be mislead by BigPharma on something being safe or unsafe because of the FDA. Most consumers do not know the nuances I briefly mentioned above.
Lastly, because I can’t put 25 yrs into a post, estriol vaginal cream is excellent at promoting vulvar health (climax, elasticity, moisture) and does not bind strongly to breast tissue like estradiol does. (FYI Im not against estradiol and do use it. There is just a lot more to hormone therapy.)
Again, she has done a great job in this video educating women about hormones 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
And excuse all of the typos!

@@ms.t8313 it took me 1 year to get balanced until then I lost 10 pounds, for example my estradiol is 200 and progesterone 20 , progesterone has to be 10% of your estradiol to be balanced , it takes a lot of patience and of course I am eating healthy and working out 3 or 5 days a week . I have been on HRT (Pill Form) Estrogen and Progesterone for 14 years. I started as soon as my period ended. I feel great being on it. I'm now 63, and my skin looks like I'm 45. It does make a difference in how you feel AND how you look. The best way to find out what your body needs is to have your hormones checked through bloodwork. Then your doctor will know the exact dosage to give you.

I am 61 now and had a hysterectomy in 2016. I can't tell you how IMPORTANT this information is for women. My doctor took me off of estradiol because of the "risks". I had no idea what the estradiol meant to my system. I am in a fog, I can't think, I can't sleep, hot flashes. Personally, I lost half the volume of my hair. This is all so heartbreaking. I have begged my doctor to keep me on estradiol. She has me on a tiny dose that she will not refill. I did my research and found much information re the importance of HRT but she will not budge. I cannot express what this video has meant to me. I Thank you Dr. Clare, I thank you Penny from the bottom of my heart. The information you have given this community is priceless. "We gaslight Ourselves" So true.. Dr. Haver is right! Seems like so many "Specialists" have been too. Thank you for bringing this massively important subject and fabulous Dr. Haver to your viewers Wonderful Penny!!! Now, I need to get to her : ) Interesting. at age 57, I thought I was seeing an "expert", and now I have to wonder. Just the Pat on the back with a "Ahhh you're alright" after I complain about all of the issues associated with Menopause, throws some vaginal cream at me and that's it. I've actually been pretty good at researching so many subjects about health over the years. Yet, here I am.. at a loss. I've asked about my endometrial ablation she did years ago as well, and if this affects me.. "Ohhhh you're alright" with a pat on the back. The Sahara desert has come to visit now as well. I need to move on.

What a great informative Q&A on this very important health issue that effects every single women (millions!) who goes through menopause. It’s truly mind blowing that this is not addressed nationally and that the only doctors and women who are educated in any way are those that seek to find the information on their own. I am so thankful to people like Penny and Dr. Haver who help to educate women on this topic. I am a Mammographer and this topic comes up all the time with many patients who are struggling to accept the miserable symptoms that they are having from menopause. I will definitely be mentioning this Q&A in the future to my patients if they care to educate themselves. Thank you Penny and Dr Haver.
