We'll eventually have to tell another one we heard about a Pathfinder (the ones who jumped in weeks before the invasion/liberation) who broke his hip on landing and had to be cared for IN THE HOUSE that we stay at in Normandy. It's crazy how much history dots the landscape with untold stories.
Love your channel!! Thank you for the tips! Hoping to make my way to France this year. Love that it is so rich in history. So...where I can find that dog?! LOL!!
I moved from California to the Aude 2007. The year before I spent six weeks with a backpack and a rail pass. I am minutes from Mediterranean beaches and less thtone hour from Spain. Travel beyond your region. There is so much to experience.
@@ChrisandEllen Hi again, we are continuing our WW2 France trip to see the sights we missed. We stayed on Omaha Beach last year in September. We met with Thierry from Overlord Tours and he did an extensive off sight tour and more. We ventured to other more local sites and next we are focusing on some of the Canadian Memorial sites, ie: Dieppe, Dunkirk, more Caen and Belgium. We also really like fresh, right out of the sea food so we can cook it ourselves. We are close to the ocean in Dieppe if you have any advice?
Nice video! Most of the time we head south from Paris when we visit France, but now, we'll be looking to spend some time in Normandy next time we're there. Thanks for sharing!
We really like your videos! 😍 Creative ideas, even if you still use basic filming methods, and all very natural. If you love this, keep going ☺️ Our subscription you have 👍😘
we have an Airbnb on the beach in Cabourg but its 30 mins from Cean and over 1 hour to the D D beaches.. Do you think staying by the beach is worth it or stay near Bayeux? we are booking 4 nights. 2 full days for D Day and 1 day for Mt St Michel. We also would love to stay in Honfleur..but it's further than Cabourg. your advice?
Normandy is a pretty spread out region. If you can do a couple nights by the beaches, 1 night by Mont St Michel, and 1 night in Honfleur (on your way back to Paris), then that would be what we recommend. But also, it’s all totally doable as day trips from Cabourg as well!
Thanks for the tips and clips. Ive always wanted to visit normandy for its history. Which bed and breakfast inn would u recommend in Normandy, which is convenient to visit the sites, and not too pricy. Merci beaucoup.
There are so many to choose from it's very hard to say and it depends on your budget. We generally recommend renting a car and basing yourself in Caen or St Mere Eglise for the WW2 sites.
Great Video. I and my husband am travelling to Normandy next week. Can you tell me the place of the port where you ate the oysters? Like the name of the town ?
So glad you enjoyed it! Saint Vaast La Hogue is the oyster capital of Normandy and a fantastic little port town. La Bisquine is a wonderful restaurant and a great place to get oysters there (the owners are absolutely lovely too). Enjoy your trip!
@@ChrisandEllen Well, you visited one of the most destroyed areas of D Day , since I believe even phosphorus bombs were dropped on Saint Lo, I knew someone from the town who was the witness of all this. Next Tim St MALO !!!
In St Vaast La Hougue, search Lesdos-Allaire. They sell them by the pound in all sizes, or you they can serve them in their patio overlooking the boats that brought them in.
Best beaches and beautiful cliffs! Worth the trip.
What a story about the paratrooper!

Awesome video! We are planning our Normandy trip and found this extremely helpful. I was surprised you don’t have more subs!
Thank you for your kind words! I hope it helps! We have spent a collective 6-8 months there. Ask any questions you have, we love the area!

Completely agree! France is a gorgeous country and we’ve been all over (just haven’t always filmed videos 🙃 but working on that!)
Going to Normandy next week for my second time! I will watch your videos in the meantime! Thank you!

Love your experiences, my kind of people. The story of WWII was amazing of the baby born.
Thank you!!

@@ChrisandEllen thanks for ur kind reply. Shall scope around. Cheers
How do you get around Normandy when you go for a month?
We’re usually house sitting and using the home owners car. You will definitely need a car to get around the region the easiest.

Don't hesitate to hop across to Britany to the Town of Saint Malo !!!
Funny story: One of our French friends told us to check out Saint Malo and we thought he said Saint Lo. So we’ve been to Saint Lo but not Saint Malo 😂

Can you spell out where to get the best Oysters at please?
In St Vaast La Hougue, search Lesdos-Allaire. They sell them by the pound in all sizes, or you they can serve them in their patio overlooking the boats that brought them in.
Thank you very much. We are planning a visit and love doing it the local way

Aren't menus always displayed outside ?
In France they are displayed but that's not the case in every country, unfortunately.
