So, he's the monster as it turns out... The way I see it, the meaning behind this is that we are our self's only enemy and yet protector at the same time. And the only way to love ourselves is through accepting all of it, including our demons/flaws. And that's how we'll let ourself protect us.

I heard this first in S2ep7 of the Purge.
The beginning with the chorus played at the scene when Ben was walking in slo-mo down the street and he sees his mask for sale in a Purge store.
Now everytime I play this song while walking down the street it just reminds me so much of that scene. And I can't help but imagine what it would be like if we lived in a world where the Purge actually existed.
This truely fits the PURGE episode....
