I am a private pilot, A&P, IA but know very little about ag aviation except for watching them fly here in the desert. Because of the summer heat, usually at night. They have the planes lit up like the sun. Turning the lights on for the run and off for the turn. They must have an STC for a couple big alternators, batteries, and a number of very bright lights on a separate circuit from the landing and taxi lights. Thank you. Very cool.
Hi Tyson. You mentioned on the video, that you rather not fly through the dispensed product, so does that mean that, normally you would always prefer to do your swaths towards an upwind direction? How do you work out the direction of spray? Also does it make a difference to spray in the direction of the plantation rows, or perpendicular to the rows? Keep up the fantastic work. Fly safe!
Thanks for watching. Yes I work upwind of my last pass so I’m not flying through anything. It can be easier to line up on your pass when you have rows to look at but I’ll run a field in any direction depending on obstacles that are around it. If I have a choice I prefer to run with the rows.
Hi, Thank you for each and every videos , I'm learning and enjoying it. One day I really want to bring this technique to Srilanka 🇱🇰 . You are inspiring me 😊😊😍
@@AgAviationAdventures If you get time.. I watch all your videos.. reminds me when I was a kid about 40 years ago running out in the fields and playing in the " rain".. man, little did we know. Thank God no health problems with none of us from that stuff.
That would be amazing!! There is a guy up there that flys an 802 and fills the hopper with fuel. He delivers the fuel to villages and towns. I’ve seen some of his stuff on FB and he flys along the rivers. It’s incredible.

I remember when a lot of the ag planes had a toilet paper launcher (not sure the correct name) on the right wing close to the fuselage. Pilot would hit the button and voila, a whole toilet paper on the farmers field.
Is it the same kind of oil they use in air shows or is it a different kind of oil since you guys are around crops? I know that stuff can leave a thin film of oil on the things it lands on. I don’t know if it would harm the plants or not. It is a type of mineral oil I doubt it would I’m just not sure.
We head to Baja for 6 weeks and kite board. This year we are taking our motorcycles to Central America for a bit. We also ski, mountain bike, hike, rock climb, ice climb, dirt bike, and paraglide.

That’s a great observation. If I can avoid not running into the sun I will. If I have more then one field to chose from I’ll pick ones that I can run north to south. I do have a tinted visor I can flip down that helps immensely. Most of the time you just can’t avoid it.
yea and the pilot who sprayed a corn field across the road from my house was was using that and the grass in my yard didn't grow for a month the plum trees and fig tree's died the leaves on the outside on most of other trees burned off at the tips of outer branch's all the leaves.i guess even with all the equipment it come's down to the pilot's use of them and his decision to let profit or safety run the plane

awesome video, as always. Great explanation as well!

If you ever get time.. could you do a video on the controls and what they do?
I talk about it a little in the Air Tractor Walk Around video but I’ll try to make one this summer going more in depth.

I'm curious... did you need a PPL to fly a duster? or some other class?
i know its work, but it looks like a sh*t ton of fun!
Thanks for the sub! In order to get paid to aerially apply, you need a commercial pilot's license.
@@AgAviationAdventures interesting...
Ive always thought dusters are cool... they look like a blast to fly
be safe up there!

They are actually called flangers but you’re right, they are kinda like pieces of toilet paper. Lot more advanced these days with GPS.

No it’s the same oil.
What kind of oil are you using? We are using 10w non detergent without much luck.
I’ve always run a smoker oil the local oil guy in town carries. But I believe Shane graddy on FB sells oil that a lot of people really like.
What do you do in the winter/off season?

Got any good wreck story’s
I know multiple people who have hit power poles.
Thankfully no
Yet again , great content . It's starting to annoy me you guy's don't have more subscribers. Please keep up the great video's
Haha. Thanks for watching Rob!
Is the oil that is sprayed into the exhaust from the engine system? or does it come from a separate reservoir for "smoking" purposes only?
It is “smoker oil” and it’s in a separate 2 gallon tank.
Is the smoke not harmfull to the crops or is it negligible? Does it act as an insect repellent should it settle on the plants?
It’s not harmful to anything and it won’t kill things including insects.
Great video once again Tyson! Totally off the subject at hand, do you sell any of your Ag Aviation apparel? Thanks!
Hi James! We do sell hats and t-shirts. If you would like just send us an email at agaviationadventures@gmail.com.

750 shaft horsepower

Interesting. I’ve never seen someone spray corn multiple times like that for grass.
How big is your typical field
80-160 acres
Let's ride

Don't do this with an I720 in a cessna husky on the ground, if it does not burn and goes onto the brakes
