As a big sister who was given a ton of responsibility regarding my brother, Vi and Powder hurts. One of the worst feelings in the world is when in hindsight, you realize you made a horrible mistaking handling a situation with a younger sibling. The show wrote their relationship masterfully. Would love for you to continue with the series!!
You can pretty reliably tell whether a person is an older sibling or a younger sibling by who they empathize with in that scene. I can only ever see it through Vi's eyes, and I can forgive her, but a lot of younger siblings take Powder's side and cannot.
@@brightonpauli3916 I'm an older sibling but I empathized with Powder BECAUSE of that. Her doing what she did made the situation worse, but she couldn't have expected how bad it went, she clearly has abandonment issues and her panic attack(?) still hurts to see, her meltdown at the end and Vi's reaction made me VISCERALLY angry because she's still a child despite it all. But I do understand Vi's anger and how distraught she was and why she made those decisions. For both of them, the road to hell is paved with good intentions
@@thethirdbill obviously we can't forgive vi for hurting powder, but they were both just kids who had been through some major trauma, a lot of what happened likely wasn't meant and they will regret later
@@ashiguessso One interpretation of Vi walking away isn't her abandoning Powder, but removing herself from the situation for fear of what she might do. And if it hadn't been for Marcus, she would have tried to rescue Powder from Silco. Vi fucked up, but she realized it even then.
It hurts even more because Vi had no intention of abandoning Powder. She realized she went too far and needed to step away. As soon as she saw Powder was in danger she was so ready to run back.
Uh-huh, as soon as she looked at her hands she knew what she'd done, but didn't know how to fix it while her own heart is breaking and her world is falling apart along with Powder's :(
Fun fact: that last shot of Powders eye as she was looking out is a clear inspiration from the “fallen angel” painting which depicts the Devil when he was cast out of Heaven.
When powder cried after vi left her it also fucked me up. I think it's because they got the mannerisms of a child crying so on point. The uncontrolled movements. U can really feel the emotion through a screen.
Comparing Powder to the stones themselves isn't something I've ever seen a reactor mention, but yea now that you mention it there is a strong parallel there. Awesome analysis
That "I wish I had more time with these characters, but they were taken away too soon" is real. I ran into this show like "Oh I love this little found family! I can't wait to see their character development, especially Mylo (Lock Pick) and Powder!" Then episode 3 happened
So, the puppetmaster council woman (Mel Medarda) was told by her assistant during her toybox shopping appointment, that Jayce was from a "lesser house", so I took that as Jayce was either upper middle class or lower upper class. Also, when Victor stopped Jayce from jumping, he mentioned that he (Victor) was from the lower city, and I believe in the 3rd episode he mentioned something about only ever getting to be an assistant, no matter how hard he worked. So I believe that means that only people from "Houses" can get patrons and funding from bigger "Houses" in order to become scientists. So even if Powder was discovered and allowed to study, she would have still been kept from achieving the same level of success as someone who was born with more, like Jayce.
@@jonasquinn7977 Silco isn't high enough in their society to live in the upper city, let alone be allowed to sponsor anyone. His backing of anyone wouldn't have meant anything. Now down in the Lanes, he does allow her to experiment, and learn on her own. We'll see that in the next part of the series.
According to league of Legends lore Jayce's family runs a successful tool buisness and is quite wealthy but not super wealthy (more lower upper class than upper middle class) The writers of arcane have shared that citizens of zaun are usually not permitted in the academy (Victor is the only one). Victors parents have saved all their money to buy Victor an academy uniform and from then on Victor just pretended to be a student there so he could learn there. Heimerdinger was so impressed by Victor that he made him his assistant
@@phlippbergamot5723 oh I know, I meant post timeskip Silco with all the money and resources at his disposal could probably pay for her to attend and use his influence to allow it but he’s ideologically opposed to it The same way he almost certainly could have moved to Piltover but never would have considered it
When Silco hugged Powder, he wasn't even being (purposefully) manipulative, he actually related to her. "She's not my sister anymore" harkins back to how Vander, who he thought of as his brother, betrayed him. It's shocking how much complexity each character in this show has, especially Silco. Basically any prediction you could have will end up being subverted (unless it's "everything's gonna go wrong" lol) and that's part of the beauty of it. There aren't any of the classic character tropes that everyone knows, the characters aren't caricatures, but actually well-rounded people. You'd expect Jayce to be the smart guy led astray and for Viktor to be the guy pulling him into a darkness, but no, by this point you already see that they're both chill and just want to figure out how to use magic to help people. Silco seems like he'd be a mustache-twirling villain from the jump but he has so many layers at episode fucking *three* . Powder, Vi, Mylo, and Clagger all seem like the classic coming of age protagonists but, uh, you saw what happened. love this show
@@thethirdbill Believe me not. Arcane characters can't see the scenes we viewers see. Silco saw Vander pick up Violet and jump, and heard Powder cry on the floor and say she was abandoned. Most of the reactors forget this. What we see, what they cannot see. It's good to keep in mind that the whole thing is "perspective". Additionally: In Silco, Violet didn't know the explosion was coming from Powder's side. Silco still doesn't know. The series is very successful in the "show, don't tell" theme.
@@thethirdbill he’s definitely toxic and not a good guy but I think that people tend to think he’s a lot more manipulative than he actually is. Not saying that he’s not manipulative at all, though. His reasoning behind the things he does isn’t manipulative but some of the ways he goes about doing so can be manipulative, but that doesn’t mean his intentions were to manipulate Powder. I love how complex his character is, because you can see that he projects a lot of his feels into others, including when he finds Powder alone crying for her sister to come back. Violet wasn’t actually abandoning her, despite what it looked like to both Powder and Silco. I do agree with the main commenter on him projecting his past of losing Vander as a brother and being betrayed by him onto Powder being “abandoned” by Vi, when that wasn’t the case, she was just walking away to cool down. Silco only knows what he saw, he has no reason to believe that Vi was coming back for Powder. People also seem to miss that Silco doesn’t even know that Vi was arrested as that the cop guy did that behind his back. He’s obviously the bad guy and his intentions are not in actual good faith, but in his twisted world view, he believes he’s doing the right thing. That’s what makes him such a interesting and dynamic character, the fact that he’s not the good guy but believes his actions are good and just. The fact that he immediately takes in this “abandoned” child who reminds him of himself is obviously selfish but he himself believes he’s doing the right thing. He thinks he’s protecting and saving her, when in reality he’s taking her from her sister, who he misguidedly thinks betrayed Powder. It goes to show the difference in world views of the characters and how despite a character having good intentions can inherently be selfish and toxic without realizing it!
@@thethirdbill you can see after she hugs him and says the "shes not my sister anymore" line he looks at vander, he realises the paraliels. he sees himself in her, and for once, his look isn't cunning or calculated or manipulative, he seems like hes genuanly feeling emotions
thank you for getting to that part of the video. its hard for me to talk about, and my immediate anger has upset some people, which is understandable as long as it doesn't look down on emotional response to something traumatic.
@@thethirdbill I definitely think that Arcane as a show is intentionally pulling on that anger for the audience. Very reasonable response to viewing and experiencing traumatic experience and also just a really human feeling that sometimes gets demonized as inherently "wrong." For sure, negative things can come out of anger, but also an understanding of deep values, compassion for human complexity and deep grief can be born from that initial anger response. Keep modeling that healthy anger.
@@thethirdbill It sucks that people are getting upset over your reaction when in truth a lot of people commenting are doing so from a place where they've probably already watched the show multiple times, have seen reaction videos and have had time to fully analyze all the possible nuances of that one scene. I've only seen two reactions where the reactor was able to analyze all the emotional nuances of that scene right after watching it and one of the reactors is a therapist and the other a doctor of clinical psychology, so it's kind of part of their job to get it.
It seems to be common for people to think that Silco's motives, immediately upon encountering Powder, is to recruit her. I think they are mixing in expectations created by common trope - yes, that is what happens, but it's probably not Silco's plan at all: The first thing Silco does is to ask Powder where her sister is. It's Vi he's interested in - either to tie up a loose end, and kill them both, per his original plan - or because he recognised her fighting potential on the bridge - he reacted very strongly to that. He's a masterful manipulator, so perhaps he thought he'd be able to find a way to use her. What would he want with a small child with no particular skills? He's already ordered the childrens death earlier - he has no qualms about it. But she surprises him - diving on him for comfort. He's literally and figuratively disarmed by it. (He drops the knife, and he's clearly dumbfounded) - until she says "she's not my sister any more" - he looks up and Vander's body, and sees the parallel "betrayal".
17:10 "dude, somebody get up!" - "NO not you!" got me good! same with "RIP TH- give him a kiss?? RIP THAT EVIL EYE OUT OF HIS FACE" :D ( 17:46 ) your commentary is amazing and I thank the youtube gods for making your stuff appear in my feed
Also since the show doesn't really explain why magic is taboo in piltover, its because of the rune war. Which was a magical war that happened a thousand years before the show. It nearly destroyed the world. And Heimerdinger is a yordle. Yordles are creatures made of pure natural magic and as such are immortal. So Heimerdinger witnessed the Rune War and he founded Piltover with the intention of protecting the world from magic with science. Don't worry none of this is spoilers for the show. I'm just giving a little insight
Heimerdinger mentions he is 300 years old so the rune war must have been less than a thousand years before the show, otherwise he couldnt have witnessed it
was messing with magic what created the undercity, or was that science? and whatever they were trying to do went terribly wrong and part of the city collapsed...Is that right?
@@mischr13 no the city was using explosives to open up a way for trading ships to get around Valoran easier but their calculations were wrong and it caused a catastrophe that made half the city sink down and they ended up just leaving it that way. Eventually this caused a huge financial and economic devide where Piltover was rich and dumping waste into Zaun
@@Nella_nova No worries! That's why I wanted to check. I haven't actually listed all of them out, so I couldn't give you 9, but the other two shows I always list as in my top ten are Patriot (on Amazon Prime) and Orphan Black. I highly recommend both.
I love the designs of Mylo and Claggor (lockpick & goggles) because their designs are so distinct. Their looks and skill sets kind of fit fantasy class archetypes, The thief and the tank. You can almost imagine who they’d grow up to be, which only makes that lost potential feel all the more tragic.
So so glad you decided to give the show a shot and with the three act structure! Your takeaways has given me even more depth from the show and the showrunners. Comparing the blues especially around Powder and the Hextech ore fragments is something that never occured to me and the way you used the theme of patience through them was astounding - it had so much evidence it's nutty! Great stuff as always Bill! Looking forward to the next acts if you decide to carry on. (seems like you will lol)
I think it's important to note that absolutely nothing in this series is black or white. Including the rich people. I also love the analogy that Powder is the hexstones! I haven't seen a reaction where anyone has made that comparison and I adore it from a literary standpoint so much. This show is so gripping and good. A lot of talent everywhere.
i wanna tell you to cut my baby vi some slack but i also don’t blame your reaction :( that’s what’s so great about this show though, you understand each character’s actions even when you disagree with them
i do talk about it more later in the video if that helps. like all things, there's a reason my response was so visceral, and I hope you my collected thoughts make sense.
@@thethirdbill i finished the video and i really like how you put it! yes messy is definitely a great way to describe it, they both carry so much trauma and their own experiences so i think it’s pretty much impossible to say whose ”fault” anything is, it all depends on from which perspective you look. that’s why it’s frustrating sometimes to see some reactors or people online be so simple and black and white about it, picking sides and sticking to them while disregarding other characters’ reasonings completely… so i really appreciate your breakdown part of the video! it’s all so complex
@@thethirdbill Your anger was appropriate. As the show continues, you may find yourself understanding characters' reactions and possibly forgiving them in later episodes. This story is so human, and full of both the ugliness and the beauty of the human condition.
I was a little surprised that you were considering hating Vi for a moment when she struck Powder. Like, hitting Powder was obviously wrong, but I thought, given everything, Vi handled that situation fairly okay. It's pretty obvious that Vi solves all her problems with violence, Vi makes that much clear as he tells her that violence can't solve everything. So Vi loses everything and, of course, her go to solution to a problem is to hit it, but you can see the regret and frustration as soon as she hits Powder even if she dismisses it pretty quickly. What Vi does is realize that she doesn't want to hit Powder and she walks away. She seeks space because she understands that she doesn't know how to handle things and knowing that her go-to solution won't help things. And the moment she notices that Powder is in danger with Silco she tries to go back for her. Also yes please on Act 2
i do discuss this in the video, i hope you get to that part. maybe consider the personal experiences when watching an immediate response. Especially something so visceral.
@@thethirdbill I was doing chores while listening so I might have zoned out a tad when you discussed it before coming back after to type my comment. I'll listen to it again. And you're right, I was judging your initial response when I probably shouldn't have been. Sorry about that.
As a bigger sister watching Vi in the first three episodes brings immense pain. We don’t GET to see Vi grow up and her traumas, so I think people are more empathetic automatically to powder since we are seeing her as a child. But Vi is still a kid ! She’s only like 14/15 maybe 16 here. She’s a kid taking care of other kids and fighting battles bigger than herself, so when I saw her hit powder of course it hurt, but it was so understandable as she is also a child who doesn’t know how to regulate emotions. Especially after losing every single other person other than powder. (SOFT SPOILERS NEXT) And then given the show- EVERYONE seems to forgive how powder now named Jinx grows up into who she is in Act 2 and 3, but those same people show NO mercy to Vi when she hits powder ONCE.
it's all good. i wouldn't respond if i thought you were malicious, nor if it was something silly like the frosting flavor on a cupcake. that's an intense topic and it can lead to intense feelings.
@@kirbyprincess7125 Yeah. I always try to see everyone's perspective and given how angry I was as a kid I think I was more ready to relate to Vi than most people are from the jump.
One thing I love about this show (and the reactions) is how it hits older siblings and younger siblings differently. Arcane perfectly captured the subtle nuances, roles, and responsibilities of the characters
I have definitely noticed that a lot of older siblings, myself included, can sympathize with and understand Vi, meanwhile younger siblings tend to do that with Powder
i do talk about it more later in the video, i hope you get to that part. specifically how she's like vander and he shoulder's an unfair amount of responsibility that shouldn't fall on one person.

Something that I noticed when you mentioned "taking a breath" when Jayce was working with the stone, is that the Undercity quite literally has messed up air. Breathing is a big theme in the show for a reason, and when the air is heavy and full of pollutants, taking a breath might not have the same calming effect. Also, smoking is frequently associated with having power in the setting (think about Vander's pipe), since it's just fancy breathing basically, but proves you are tough enough to deal with the extra smoke on top of the pollution.
The reason Vander doesn't choke Silco out in that factory scene is that's the arm Silco stabbed when Vander tried to drown him years ago. He's got a brace on there and he's probably never got his full grip strength back
Fuck man. Your ideas on Powder being the stones are incredible, as others have said. The idea about ‘what could have been’ with Mylo and Claggor ‘being taken too soon’ is amazing I’ve never seen someone say that before, like, I can’t emphasise how new that idea it is and how much I love it. ALSO would love to see more of this.
I'm so excited to see your reaction to the rest of the episodes. This show is absolutely haunting in its storytelling and characters that even knowing a single character for five minutes gets you immediately invested in what will happen. I had similar reactions when watching the show so it's nice to see wasn't the only one screaming at Silko to bippity boppity back tf up away from Powder
29:16 having spent the last 6 months delving into fan theories the general assumption is that vander and silco lead the initial rebellion side by side. After it failed at the bridge is when things got probably ugly between them. Silco probably continuing to try and push forward and vander trying to protect the little people they had left after fully realizing the consequences of his leadership. Silco more than likely only asked for Vander's help so he could be sure that absolutely everyone would be with them
To think these babies wouldn't have to go through anymore trouble if fuckin Marcus just stayed out of the way (yeah, Vi probably didn't stand a chance at Silco's goons at such a young age but at least Powder wouldn't have felt abandoned and Vi wouldn't think something happened to her sister)
I think one of my unexpected favorite little details behind the scenes of Arcane is that the show didn’t have a lighting team so all the lighting in every scene was done entirely by the artist with the expectation to always care more about making it look amazing over how sunlight would react realistically to scene
Without saying too much, you’re spot on so far with a lot of things! Very interested to hear especially your thoughts on Mel’s character (pretty billionaire) and excited to see you watch the rest of this amazing show!
@@thethirdbill You're definitely not wrong about one thing you said in the video, its a small detail but I'm still on the edge of my seat for you to get to it, unfortunately, it's not until act 3 so I'll be waiting a bit.
Oh gosh, I’m glad you knew going in that it’d be upsetting. I would love to see more reactions to Arcane because I think you’d have interesting insights, but also please take care of yourself. Also as a fun fact, the last shot of powder’s angry eye is thought to reference Cabanel’s painting “Fallen Angel”, which depicts Lucifer after being cast out of heaven. Feel free to read into that as much or as little as you want :)
Bill and the bridges wtf mate you havent even watched 4-9 yet and picked up on a very consistent motif i hadn't realized nor anyone i know of has commented on. good on you. that said 4-9 are worth the emotional toll imo if you can spare it. I do think you should react to them in part bc i feel like you have such a good understanding of why Arcane makes me feel things i do and don't want to and yet still "enjoy?".
It is "Pain: The Show" and I absolutely adore it. Your reaction is almost beat for beat how I felt watching act 1 the first time. And two more times because it takes me so much time to fully process the entire thing.
I saw your reaction video on the soundtrack. Bro I don't know how anyone can 'spoil' a show without having seen a second of it, just by analyzing the damn songs. 90% of your conclusions were on the money. Kudos to that.
THIS made me realize for the first time, that regardless of whether Vi managed to not get arrested until episode 3 or not, she still wouldve ended up in stillwater either way. The only difference would be that everyone else lived, including Powder who wouldve stayed with Vander, Ekko, and her brothers. This managed to slip past me for a WHILE buried amongst all of the other little things that are similarly tragic and specific. God this show is intricately written. And god is it sad.
So glad you are doing this! Yeah, I choke up every time I see someone react to episode 3. Hugs, all (wipes face) I've probably watched it 30, 40 times at this point... man. Regarding Violet (we finally learn her full name)... she's a child brought up in extreme loss and trauma and anger, constantly punching her way out of danger. She just lost her parent AGAIN plus most of her family, running high on adrenaline... she lacks the resources and background to deal with her problems properly, plus a pile of trauma. Obviously, she should not have hit her sister at ALL. But it's hard to fault her for something she was totally unprepared to deal with. And to her credit, she didn't abandon her sister, she just needed to get away to process. And once Powder was threatened again had every intention to go help... Except the cop, who ... just happens to have a bottle of ether on him, knocked her out and dragged her away. Yaaay cops.
"Holy shit do I hate you now?" I understand the sentiment, but keep in mind she's a child too, and she just watched what are essentially her father and two brothers die horrifically while still full of adrenaline from literally fighting for her life against a giant monster-guy, and then saw Powder come around the corner giggling about having caused it... we know Powder didn't realize what had happened, but again, Vi was not in the state of mind to stop and think about things like that. It's very easy to stay calm and rational while we're sitting here watching the show in the safety of our home, but Vi was not at all okay right there. Obviously that doesn't mean she was right, but she can be forgiven for not being a saint at that particular moment. Even if it was the worst possible time to not be in control of herself, it's not really her fault.
I’m so excited for this reaction because all the characters are so well written and interesting (though I have a special soft spot for my highest kin, baby blue). I really hope you continue this series!
Yes! You picked up on the color thing, and the parallels and inverted parallels. And the bridge thing. A lot of people miss those the first time through.
Literally finished this show last night and am very excited to see you react to more of it! I definitely felt your strong response to Vi and Powder's fight and the slap, it's one of those moments where Vi definitely went too far but like all characters she is so complex and just another kid, but that doesn't change the way it hurts in the moment (both as the audience watching it happen and as Powder experiencing it)
Kudos to the show for not only a dope narrative but for filling it with parallels and thematic curve balls. BIGGER KUDOS to you for catching them 3 episodes in. Despite its bleaker tone, the emotional complexity and overall hopefulness seemed right up your alley :)
As a big sister, (my little brother is 6, I am 19), the scene with Powder and Vi at the end always hurts. Because my little brother and I have such a huge age gap we have never had a single fight. I have basically helped raise him. The thought of doing that to him is unimaginable but putting myself in Vi’s shoes I probably would have been angry as well. Though I would never hit or say that to my little brother. Seeing her try to get back to Powder when Silco arrived and sorta be kidnapped and unable to save her sister was also very heartbreaking. This show gives me a lot of emotions. As a daddy’s girl and as a big sister. I still love it though.
What I love about Vi’s response is that she realizes she made a huge mistake, she hit her sister, but she’s 15/16 and still reeling from losing her adoptive brothers and father (and Powder’s bomb being partially responsible), so her instinct is to lash out. But then she removes herself from Powder, to go sit somewhere and grieve and cool off. The second she sees Powder’s in danger, however; she tries to go back, but of course is stopped and dragged away. It proves that even with all of this, of course she still cares about Powder and wants to protect her…. But unfortunately the damage is already done. Let’s give it up to Mia Sinclair Jenness who plays Powder though. I think she was like 13 when they recorded this and she did so good. One of most believable breakdowns I’ve ever heard. Speaking of the voice cast: - Vi - Hailee Steinfeld - Powder - Mia Sinclair Jenness - Mylo - Yuri Lowenthal - Claggor - Roger Craig Smith - Vander - JB Blanc - Ekko/Little Man - Miles Brown - Greyson - Shohreh Aghdashloo - Marcus - Remy Hii - Silco - Jason Spisak - Jayce - Kevin Alejandro - Caitlyn - Molly Harris - Mel - Toks Olegundoye - Viktor - Harry Loid - Heimerdinger - Mick Wingert Alright, buckle up, Buttercup. This rides only just getting started.
All of the applause for Powder's va who was somewhere between like 10-13 when recording these episodes. Also, I understand being angry at Vi for hitting her, but she's only like 15 here, also a kid. She immediately regretted it, and got away from Powder to calm herself down. That doesn't excuse her doing it, but I think given the situation you can understand why she did it. In the right headspace I don't think she would have ever hit her.
i talk about this later in the video, i hope you get to it. i hope people consider someone's personal experiences when judging an immediate response even in a yt video.
@@thethirdbill I've finished the video now. I'm sorry that my comment came off as me judging your reaction, that wasn't my intention. I think your reaction was completely appropriate. It hurts even more because Vi had no intention of abandoning Powder. She realized she went too far and needed to step away. As soon as she saw Powder was in danger she was so ready to run back.
Uh-huh, as soon as she looked at her hands she knew what she'd done, but didn't know how to fix it while her own heart is breaking and her world is falling apart along with Powder's :(
"If Powder shows up on a bridge I'm gonna scream" *Dynasties and Dystopia starts playing*
Fun fact: that last shot of Powders eye as she was looking out is a clear inspiration from the “fallen angel” painting which depicts the Devil when he was cast out of Heaven.
I KNEW IT LOOKED FAMILIAR. IT'S BEEN BOTHERING ME SINCE I FIRST WATCHED THE SHOW
Wow. I never even had the thought. Good catch.
When powder cried after vi left her it also fucked me up. I think it's because they got the mannerisms of a child crying so on point. The uncontrolled movements. U can really feel the emotion through a screen.
It's even more impressive when you realize Powder's VA was 11 at the time of recording (16 now). That's incredible talent for an 11 year old.
They didn't use any motion capture just animation they that good...

So even if Powder was discovered and allowed to study, she would have still been kept from achieving the same level of success as someone who was born with more, like Jayce.
yeah jayce is from a wealthier family than the lanes because they were in the craftsmanship of hammers i believe? so that made them a House
Maybe with Silco’s backing she’d be allowed to be an actual scientist but that was never going to happen
According to league of Legends lore Jayce's family runs a successful tool buisness and is quite wealthy but not super wealthy (more lower upper class than upper middle class)
The writers of arcane have shared that citizens of zaun are usually not permitted in the academy (Victor is the only one). Victors parents have saved all their money to buy Victor an academy uniform and from then on Victor just pretended to be a student there so he could learn there. Heimerdinger was so impressed by Victor that he made him his assistant
@@phlippbergamot5723 oh I know, I meant post timeskip Silco with all the money and resources at his disposal could probably pay for her to attend and use his influence to allow it but he’s ideologically opposed to it
The same way he almost certainly could have moved to Piltover but never would have considered it
When Silco hugged Powder, he wasn't even being (purposefully) manipulative, he actually related to her.
Powder, Vi, Mylo, and Clagger all seem like the classic coming of age protagonists but, uh, you saw what happened.
love this show
idk if you're right or not (yet) but everything else he did was manipulative as heck though lol
@@thethirdbill
Believe me not.
Looking forward to act 2! Messy and human is sooooo the description of this show. Emotions sooo high in all 3 acts!
thank you for getting to that part of the video. its hard for me to talk about, and my immediate anger has upset some people, which is understandable as long as it doesn't look down on emotional response to something traumatic.

“Rip that- give him a kiss” 😂
This show is so amazing, one of the best animations shows since avatar imo. Can’t wait for act 2!
It seems to be common for people to think that Silco's motives, immediately upon encountering Powder, is to recruit her. I think they are mixing in expectations created by common trope - yes, that is what happens, but it's probably not Silco's plan at all:
The first thing Silco does is to ask Powder where her sister is.
17:10 "dude, somebody get up!" - "NO not you!"
got me good!

Heimerdinger mentions he is 300 years old so the rune war must have been less than a thousand years before the show, otherwise he couldnt have witnessed it

I really like how they killed off the characters, its very realistic. in real life, you dont know when you die, there's no foreshadowing.

Silco more than likely only asked for Vander's help so he could be sure that absolutely everyone would be with them
fun fact the masks is only for topsiders as theyre not use to the air of the undercity, you know murky and polution
Episode three and the last episode are the best in the entire series
I think one of my unexpected favorite little details behind the scenes of Arcane is that the show didn’t have a lighting team so all the lighting in every scene was done entirely by the artist with the expectation to always care more about making it look amazing over how sunlight would react realistically to scene

Yaaay cops.

@@thethirdbill I absolutely adore it😭😭😭
I was already giggling at every joke but the sudden cut in the last one broke me

I understand the sentiment, but keep in mind she's a child too, and she just watched what are essentially her father and two brothers die horrifically while still full of adrenaline from literally fighting for her life against a giant monster-guy, and then saw Powder come around the corner giggling about having caused it... we know Powder didn't realize what had happened, but again, Vi was not in the state of mind to stop and think about things like that.

I definitely felt your strong response to Vi and Powder's fight and the slap, it's one of those moments where Vi definitely went too far but like all characters she is so complex and just another kid, but that doesn't change the way it hurts in the moment (both as the audience watching it happen and as Powder experiencing it)
Bill, your analyses is so accurate. I hope to see more of it for Act 2.
Wow you are insanely good at following stories and characters. You mentioned far more than I picked up on my first watch through.
for these videos i watch a second time to take notes, but thank you!
Omg I can’t wait I’ve been waiting for this - will break your heart ✨😅
best reaction and opinions ever, ive rewatched it 4x and never noticed the bridge parallel
bridges are perpendicular *ba dum chh
omgomg ive been waiting for this! im so glad you enjoyed it!
They really took “every frame a painting” to heart. You can choose any frame of this show at random and it’s fucking gorgeous
This show is a rollercoaster but everything about it it's amazing. Thank you for the reaction.
LEEEETTTSSS GOOOOOO IM SO HYPED
Speaking of the voice cast:
- Vi - Hailee Steinfeld

But I also know that with animation it can be difficult to determine ages, and I think Vi's age is an important contextual detail for the scene, so that's why I shared it. But it's my bad for commenting before finishing the video. Hope you have a good evening!
it's okay. if i thought you were being malicious i wouldn't respond, nor if it was over something silly like 'powder should have green hair' it's an intense topic with intense feelings.
I am so ready for the next part. Both your initial reactions and your commentary is always so good. I'm so excited to see you reacting to arcane.
Well, you finished the light hearted arc. Time for the emotional pain train.
...please say you're joking...this was light hearted????
@@thethirdbill Guess you'll have to watch Act 2 and 3 to know lol
