My favorite parts about this.
1) The gritty detective style of the show
2) The scratchy audio
3) How Fox is a visibility younger than Wolf and how Wolf calls him “Kid”

If that's your favourite parts of this, then you need to recommend me more similar things. I'm a absolute fan of gritty detective vibes (but also buddy cop), so recommend me works of similar kind (preferably anime though).
Here's my finds: Gotham; a Batman tv series where Detective Bullock plays this in Spades.
Cop Craft: a buddy cop anime that has it's gory moments, but is said to be the anime version of Bright.
My favorite part was Fox griping about how people don't learn his name, but Andross says it correctly and he doesn't so much as smile. What an ingrate! lol
My favorite part is the fact that the character act like actual people, rather than one dimensional characters with flats lines contrasting dynamic voice acting
5) How frustrated Fox gets when people call him "Starfox".

I love how quickly all the villains are characterized. The grunts being in awe of actually seeing the real Fox for the first time. Andrew being friends with Fox in the past before skirting into a criminal organization through his uncle's nepotism. Wolf's casual spite and flippant attitude over the whole thing. And Andross being professional enough that he's actually pissed that Fox wasn't given back his clothes.

@@scorpionhdkid8972 It is, but it's actually meant to be a reference to the Sargasso Space Zone from Star Fox Assault, which came out a couple years before its use in Ratchet and Clank. It's where Star Wolf made their headquarters leading a huge gang of miscellaneous thugs and criminals.
Wolf was *not* happy when Fox showed up to trash the place looking for Pigma - who wasn't even part of Star Wolf anymore after Wolf kicked him out for being excessively greedy and untrustworthy.

Christ- I adore Wolf's tendency in this to just flash these big toothy grins. He does it a bunch- it's a mannerism that perfectly skirts the line between charming, creepy, intimidating, and silly.
It also makes it seem like he himself has no idea how to feel and or how to take the situation himself, so he’s trying to play off is own insecurities and or baggage with grinning and or spiteful actions.
It is so...........WOLF.

After watching episode 2, there’s no way that it wasn’t merely a joke line and not something with a deeper meaning.
Poor Fara, poor Bill, and above all, poor Cael O'Donnell. Just imagine when he croaks, would Wolf even care? If he did, would he even be able to attend a funeral considering all he's done.
I just wanna know what the "when we were in academy" line was about. That would imply they were there together, but Wolf being obviously older and then having seen Episode 2 that's clearly not the case.

@Shiva R Andross is a disembodied head and hands because of ancient hyper-spatial/teleporter technology he discovered on Venom. The Nintendo Power comics and SFZ both make note of this, and the ruins are also mentioned in SF64's official guidebook.
Well, the game makes it pretty clear that the head and hands are a giant robot he built, and the "real" Andross appears as a giant brain floating in a mysterious dimension.

After countless times of watching this. I just noticed how Fox realizes who really threw his clothes.
Wolf can't lie anymore because his peer is there and andross is angry and demanding to know what happen. One of them will be in trouble.

Me too! I just realized this watching it again all these years later - it's such a clever detail that doesn't call attention to itself and exists for the astute viewer to catch. The writing in this project is easily the best of any fan creation I've ever seen.
I can't tell if this vibe is trying to emulate a 50's space opera, a 60's superhero cartoon, or a 70's sci-fi B movie

I love how 70s or 80s this feels. The voices for the characters are great! No high pitch annoying voices to mimic animals or some other annoying sounds. Just people talking normally.
He was inspired by many movies from those generations. Awesome stuff.

I love how Wolf in this series is characterised as kind of a loser thug who's in way over his head. A big contrast to his foppish 'Evil Brit' persona from the games, but a welcome one. 0:55 especially is a nice touch, with Wolf struggling to keep his plane straight and kicking off against the dashboard. His interactions with Fox also give of these ''former best friend who you realised was a bad influence so you're trying to distance yourself''-vibes.

I’ll say it again and again, Slippy’s character and voice work here is marvelous. You managed to take such a classically irritating character, extract some core traits, and turn them into a very lovable, endearing guy. The voice work solidifies it all. Underrated part of the show!

Unbelievable writing, a super hectic high movement gritty noire type animation with wonderful sprinkles of 80s space adventure. Such dry sarcastic humor,every character has very complimentary voices and overall every main focused color scheme is very pleasing. Long story short PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY.

I think Nintendo needs to step up and direct some focus to the Starfox IP. Sure, the most recent game, Zero sold pretty poorly, but I think they can make something grand, something that will heal the franchise and make it reach even higher heights than what it was previously. Of course, I believe that things are becoming better, as Starfox's inclusion in Starlink: Battle for Atlas was really good. I think that Ubisoft should be given the chance of producing a 100% Starfox game, featuring similar open world elements to Starlink. They could also feature some boots on the ground segments like Assualt did, which will not only appeal to vehicle goers, but also to rushers who just want some ground action. The Starfox IP has a lot of potential and I don't want to see it die.

One comment I wanted to add is your portrayal of Andrew. In the games he was like a spoilt rich kid related to Andross. But in this you made him a genuinely likable and relatable character. Someone who feels he was left behind by Fox and seems dejected about it. That's just the kinda vibe I get.

The fact that you got that scene with wolf saying "what!?" Without speaking, is incredible considering you only had a wolf mouth to manipulate. I come back to this regularly and it's still one of the best animated pieces out there.
The voice acting is beyond phenomenal and natural.
Aside from the obvious animation and sound quality, take a moment to appreciate just how GOOD the writing really is. Not much actually happens this episode (Fox is captured and, after some talking, meets Andross) but you don't notice because the characters are so fun. They're true to the games while also avoiding cliches a lot of other fan works fall into. Take the Star Fox team, for example.
In other fanmade works Falco is usually some jerk, Slippy is annoying, and Peppy is grumpy and senile. Fox himself is generally either super arrogant or else the Only Sane Man. Here we get a chill bro Falco (whose voice is a throwback to the original SNES game many people wouldn't catch), a likable Slippy, a seasoned Peppy, and a good-but-not-perfect Fox. You get the vibe they care for each other, are individually competent, and are actually a TEAM, which even the GAMES don't do sometimes.
As for the baddies, the Venomians are still enemies to Star Fox but they don't come off as EVIL but as people who happened to be on the other side. Andrew, generally the least liked/characterized Star Wolf member, gets a surprising amount of depth and personality from a handful of lines. Wolf has this awesome antagonist-but-kind-of-big-brother vibe with Fox. Best of all might be Andross, who you can still see being evil and wanting to take over the system but is, at the same time, an old man.
This is all extremely creative and well-executed: fresh, but familiar. The parts we've seen of Episode 2 look similar in quality. Can't wait to watch it when it comes out!
Let's not forget that Slippy stutters in his speech, also like in the original SNES game.

8:39 I just noticed that Wolf says "What the heck...." in a situation where someone with his personality in an environment like that would probably say "What the fuck" or "What the hell" at the very least. And other characters are swearing, so it's not like it's because this show is meant to be kid-friendly.
But for fans of SF64, whenever you outmaneuver Wolf with a loop, he always says "What the heck?!" So it actually makes sense that he would say that particular minced oath here, and I think that's a very subtle and clever callback to the original games.

DUDE! I'm a stoner for real and I was watching this 2 am last night, there is a niche audience waiting for something like this.
I can't quote anything off the top of my head so take this with a grain of salt, but I think I vaguely remember hearing that the idea as well as the short was passed by Adult Swim's attention and they didn't really think much of it apparently, which is unfortunate.
Not too surprising either though, I don't really know the Adult Swim guys for being the best judges of quality if it hit them over the face. Gems that go their way like Rick and Morty I sincerely think were flukes, considering for every Rick and Morty and Venture Brothers we've had 5 pieces of garbage that were probably put on TV as a dare.

These are the best voice actors you could have possibly gotten on this project. The exchange in dialogue between the other Star Fox members, as well as between Fox and Wolf are the most well-written and well-executed lines I've seen in a long time. Good work.

If this does ultimately get taken down coz of copyright, I hope that someday Matthew Gafford could pull a "Rick and Morty" and turn this parody into an original IP and pitch it to a network. This is honestly more entertaining than most shows on TV right now, animated or otherwise.
+TheHammar117 I would honestly enjoy a podcast/radio-style story if Nintendo does rain hell-fire on this video/series. While the animation is only peaked by my rose-tinted nostalgia, I thoroughly enjoy the voices and audio.
+Giancarlo Rosato He doesn't feel like he's got the setup right now to do the idea justice. He's working on AFIS right now. If he got an animation team that he could delegate work to, he may start working on it, but it's not currently more than an "Eventually" as far as I know.

+TheHammar117 It stinks because unfortunately, unless he changed the names of all the characters, he wouldn't ever be able to pitch it to a network or publisher. They wouldn't pick it up due to claiming issues. He's having a hard enough time just keeping Nintendo away from it as a freelance project (they've already called him out once before release). It's a tough thing, but at least his fans are supporting him through this. It would be just awesome tho if one of these big corporate companies like Nintendo could see that Non-Union talents like Matt, and people like myself HAVE talent, and could support their brand, even IF we don't directly work for'em.
It would be nice to see these huge companies actually recognize & stand by smaller talent for a change, and support us.. heck, most of us are fueled more on passion than money, where as the business that THEY currently have with actors and artists, are fueled by money, and thus the material put out is lack luster... the same shit pumped out again and again.

Coming back to this hot off the heels of Episode 2, a lot of the connections start to make more sense. Heck, I even got to see some smaller details I didn't quite catch onto before. It truly is amazing how much progress you made.

@@1andonlyzara Well from what I remember, Fox's sfx from the original game made him sound a little nasaly, and Falco did have a deeper tone than the rest of them, Peppy had the highest sounding octave, maybe with a bit of a twang, and Slippy had a deeper, hiccupy "toad" sound to his voice.
If you ask me, they line up pretty well.

The full voice acting didn’t show up till Star Fox 64.

For anybody wondering, the whole Fox having robot legs comes from the cover of a Nintendo Power magazine that depicted fox with what looked like robotic legs. They were actually just metal boots, but they drew the ankles so skinny that it was a reasonable assumption to make.
holy crap, is anyone else struck by the voice acting on this? They made SLIPPY not only tolerable, but charming! There is no give in quality in any aspect of this animation.
I think Slippy was always cute to begin with, but then I don't have super-sensitive ears like so many people seem to have.
AngusET I to love that slippy got some love. That toads their tech, and it makes sense he cant fly like an ace, but he also doesn’t have to rape your eardrums.

I love the idea of Falco having a Sylvester Stallone voice, it's so fitting that it's kinda scary
In hindsight, Fox getting frustrated with people not knowing his real name is amazing gag ever since I got more involved with my kid sister's school life and interacted with more of the younger gaming generation.
To many kids these days, Fox is just "That Star Fox guy" usually because of Smash Bros, and I find that sort of joke bleeding into real life tremendously funny.

My friends and I were chilling together after work, watching a bunch of animated video game shorts on autoplay. This came on and we literally stopped what we were doing and were captivated by it. I have never played a lick of Star Fox, but the art direction, and the audio engineering, and the voice acting are such a labor of love and the storyline is so rich- it feels like like a SciFi Crime Drama you catch on Adult Swim to stay up past midnight watching, it got me that invested. This is a real piece of art! (also gonna comment on the 2nd video too!)

Wolf is somehow trying to leave hints for the Star Fox crew to help him escape. We know Wolf is just getting paid from his job as a mercenary, pretty much like Fox is, but in the end he doesn't want to harm him. Fox just has a lot more character (possibly because he's a bit younger and innocent) and just doesn't know what's going on. Here I'll recap some facts so you can see Wolf isn't bad:
0:34 Wolf is the only one that has the most respect in his words in front of his rivals, he acts dull and doesn't look very amused, (Pigma being the most disrespectful to Peppy after his betrayal.)
0:55 This is probably him acting that he couldn't hit Fox with his Wolfen.
0:59 He's got way less damaged than the rest. Did he really been acting?
1:43 to 2:00 The whole sequence had been changed from your previous animatics and Wolf isn't the one knocking Fox to the ground anymore nor shooting anyone.
3:20 Wolf isn't lying here. Andross ordered Fox alive, not dead, so they removed some of Fox's clothing for "standard detainment procedures", Wolf really doesn't want him to get hurt in anyway. (3:35 "Don't touch the bars...")
3:55 "Where are you taking me?". Wolf didn't want to answer he was going to meet Andross, so he got nervous, glazed into the guard and covers his ears in shyness.
5:40 Guard: "We're meeting Andross in 5 minutes..." Wolf: "So, I'm bringing -Fox- too, huh...?" He clearly doesn't seem pretty amused.
5:49 to 5:58 The guard saw Wolf isn't acting as a true mercenary, and he reminds Wolf he has to gun point Fox so Fox doesn't try to do anything weird.
6:03 Wolf being the mercenary to Fox this time, but that's just his very own personality.
6:15 Fox: "Can I have the rest of my clothes back now?" Wolf downs his ears back once again. Wolf wants Fox to have his clothes but he did threw them off on purpose. (?)
6:30 This flashback is the proof about the clothes. Wolf just wants Fox to be safe but Wolf just wants his money first. This scene shows Wolf is clearly lying to him once again because he wants to be nice with him, and wants Falco and company to find Fox. This is why he glances at those two and hides his acts.
7:48 Wolf: "Better don't cause any scene or you won't be able to walk OUTTA HERE alive." This can have double meaning.
8:06 to 8:30 Wolf got scared they could harm Fox due to his loss of patience.
8:38 to 8:55 Wolf's got angry just because of Fox's previous acts. Again, he doesn't want Fox to scandal and tries to protect him. Pay attention to his worrying faces trough the entire scene, when the guy approaches Fox.
9:00 Wolf laughs, trying to bug Fox a little because he's just like that.
10:16-10:28 Exactly, Fox. Fox is slowly getting curious why Wolf is trying to help him.
10:29 Wolf just wanted dat $.
11:05 He's trying hard Fox to behave infront of Andross.
11:18-11:21 Wolf's worried face once again, because he doesn't want to see Fox mad to Andross.
11:27 Fox goes into this subject yet again leaving Wolf pretty nervous because it was all his fault. By the time Fox had been controlled by Wolf, (when both exit the prison) he should have gotten his clothes back, because why not?
11:38 Wolf is nervous. What he will say?
11:42 And Fox then finally realized everything: that Wolf threw off his clothes so the rest of Star Fox could find him, and that Wolf is a good guy. Fox's ear movement, and his attention to that conversation said everything.
