If you have nothing to hide, you answer a yes or no question with yes or no. If you have something to hide you answer it with a long winded, non-answer.
I understand what you're trying to say, but I think some things require context and can't be reduced to yes and no , up and down, right and left. It's a concept I like to call surface level prospective. If I ask you if the sky is blue and you say "yes" you wouldn't be wrong if viewed from ground level during the day. What about night time? Even if it were day time, if I take you up to 80K feet and you look up, it would be black. I like Ted Cruz, but he is a lawyer and a politician and both love to use rhetoric to obfuscate, confuse and oversimplify.

They want to split the difference, saying one thing for one audience they appeal to, and say something slightly different but more directly informally. This way they can say they 'said the thing' while not needing to go on record saying the thing and giving them deniability in obfuscation to produce the effects of a lie.. without having to lie. ITs a great game! And they spend years learing how to have many faces to get what they want and damn the people or the democracy itself..

I go to Rutgers University Law School as a Senior Citizen and tried to get into Immigration Law online in New Brunswick and was denied in a email that stated the assistant professor was not accepting Seniors. The professor’s recent required book for the class is Immigration in a Nutshell instead of a law code casebook. If you want proof of the required book go to the schedule of classes
