The new shield dragon "Silvegas" drops Chromite when butchered. A breeding base with "Celesdir" and "Silvegas" is currently the only way I found to automate the gain of those particular drops.
You can find a ton of chromium inside of dungeons, Just keep the metal detector out as you walk and you can find between 1-4 per room and if you find the room with a huge rock in the center surrounded by a ring of water with a bunch of ores you can get between 5-14 piles.
Anyone trying to get a Hexolite farm going without building another base, you can setup breeding farms with the new Pal 'Celesdir' and butcher the children for Hexolite Quartz. Still searching to see if there's a way to automate Chromite.
