    Arrrghhh! This was another like Jodi Arias, as I recall. I remember my boyfriend dumping me, that I was keen on and I just replied:."Right, okay, if that's how you feel". Walk away with dignity. But then, these women.are clearly unbalanced.

      Jodi Arias used the self defence angle as well. She designed a T-shirt with “survivor” on the front. That should have been given to her ex boyfriends.

    As a true crime fan I watched a lot of British documentaries where Emma appeared as commentator and I always found her interesting and edgy in a way, you could feel her passion for story telling and analyzing the crime and the circumstances. Sadly I also saw a lot of comments under these documentaries showing a lot of hate towards her and I never understood it back then and let aline now. People are so weird. She is so professional and has character! Subscribed!;-)

    I have BPD and my fiance had an affair 6 months before our wedding. My first thought wasn't to get a gun and shoot him in the face. It really angers me when killers use mental health as excuses to get off with what they did. It's the reason mental health has such a negative stigma around it.

      The BPD aspect is particularly frustrating, because, as a psychologist, and a sufferer of BPD, it absolutely INFURIATES me when people use this particular diagnosis as a get out of jail free card.
      As you mentioned, your first thought wasn't to get a g@n and sh00t your boyfriend, it was to say, OK, if that's how you feel.
      If ANYTHING, we're more likely to harm ourselves as opposed to anyone else!!! ❤❤❤💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏

It's one thing to kill someone in a moment of anger but I'd be traumatised by the sight of what I'd just done after that moment of anger is over. Some of these people behave as if they see heads blown off every day!!!!! I think that's the most worrying aspect of these killers!!!

    Thank you for your statement on BPD. I have it and as soon as you started to describe Shayna's behavior I knew she had it. This happens quite a bit in the true crime videos I watch. But the fact the you said people with BPD don't go out and kill people helps destigmatize the disorder. 💜💜

  • @shay4415
    @shay4415 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Emma Kenny I have been following true crime for a while now and you have quickly become one of my favorites. I have been diagnosed with BPD, PTSD, depression and anxiety due to childhood trauma and domestic violence that you can only imagine ( things seen in the movies- horror movies). It’s upsetting because people with BPD have been labeled as murderers, abusers etc and that really bothers me because I have never in my life would even think of such a thing. If anything I have only thought of harming myself and of course have extreme fear of abandonment and have extremely hard time dealing with people leaving me, but again never thought of harming anyone but myself because I have such self loathing. I am also an extreme empath. It’s bothersome that so many people think people with BPD are abusive and can easily murder others. I could never even think of hurting anyone else- in fact the most abusive relationships I was in (men abusive towards me) I’ve stayed among the severe physical, mental and sexual abuse and would not leave because #1 I was scared because they threatened me and my family if I tried to leave and #2 I thought I could help them, change them (which after lots of treatment I know I can never do that) and lastly, my extreme fear of abandonment I would stay no matter how awful the abuse- even when I came close to death because I believed I am/was unlovable and did not deserve anything better and no one else would want me- which my partners would repeat to me all the time until it became my truth. It just hurts because I often hear people talk about those with BPD as psychotic and murderers and I am the exact opposite- as I said I truly am an empath. Don’t get me wrong- I have many issues- extreme fear of abandonment, jealousy, devaluation and love bombing that can switch on a dime but I’ve been in therapy for a long time and have not been in a relationship for over 5 years and won’t until I can find love for myself and be a healthy partner to someone else. Thank you for saying not all those with BPD are murderers or abusers. I know in my case it came from childhood trauma and a teenage boyfriend much older and extremely abusive. In my case I abused myself and hated myself more than anyone else could. I know I hurt others with my unrealistic fear of abandonment, jealousy and my reality (in my mind) that I was unworthy of love and subconsciously tried to push others away so they would leave me and get the inevitable over with because it was torture waiting every day for them to leave me, which in my mind was inevitable. I know that did hurt others and put them on an emotional roller coaster but I know in my case it came from extreme self hatred and from events in my life that happened to me when I was young and innocent that shaped my sense of self as being unworthy of love and a therapist described my level of self hatred as that I was so insignificant in this world I did not believe I belong here. Thank you for saying not all people with BPD are murderers or even malicious abusers. I think it is a personality disorder that is very misunderstood. Also coupled along with PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD. All of this makes it even more difficult to believe I deserve love. I truly feel broken and that no one deserves all my baggage. That’s why I love animals like my cat who loves me unconditionally. But I don’t want to be alone forever. I’m just scared I will never know how to act “normal “ in a relationship. Can you please do more videos of women with abandonment issues or mental issues that maybe stay with abusers and something ends up happening. DV is a serious issue everywhere and getting worse. I love your content and your compassion to those involved. Fan for life! Also in your professional opinion (not in my case in particular because you don’t know me) but I’m a generalization, can people with BPD ever have a “normal “, healthy, happy, not co- dependent, lose the fear of living in a place where you constantly think you will be abandoned? I know you have to really work on it with CBT or DBT but is it honestly possible or has it been ingrained in your personality from such a young age that it’s just who you are and you can’t really change who you are, just manage the symptoms? I know this is long and I hope you do read it and have time for a short reply- but if anyone else reads this who has BPD or are a professional and can answer I would greatly appreciate it. 💛💛💛

    Like a lot of people, I find the similarities between Shayna & Jodi Arias extremely interesting! Extremely happy to have you in the TH-cam community; your personality & talent of being extremely knowledgeable, caring, with the ability to share information about psych & criminology not only in a professional way, but also in a way that "regular" people comment on certain people & cases (ex. last week's case where you spoke on how a friend Stienkes age would've reacted if he told the his 500yr old werewolf story, it had truth & humor)! I also see the regular human & mom in you when it comes to cases involving the innocence of children, which I believe most of us share a similar anger with the most vulnerable being violated in any way.
