You see its particularly bad for me i can and never will show my girlfriend my plastic shame. Its not bad as in how many models i have but rather my girlfriend comes from the Philippians and her family while great people never had a whole lot of money seeing how much money i have spent she would look at it as such a stupid waste of money and most likely whoop my ass for it haha.

How do you do it? 1 week in I've only managed to paint 1 saggitarum squad, 1 sister's of silence squad, 3 assassins and a couple of space wolves there is still so much on the table left to paint I've bairly touched my admech and thats to say nothing of the half built tau.
@@Mrnatnat4 I try not to do too much in one day. Just one model, or just one stage of a few of models. Never more than 3 though. As long as some paint hits some plastic it's progress and the production line is still moving.

a friend and I just started warhammer 40k a week ago, and i can’t thank you enough for making solid content!, your show has been super awesome to watch and learn from all together and seeing all these minis unpainted make me feel less bad about the few ones that only have the base paint on them. I went with a little force of Dark Angels because their lore was interesting. Anyway, thanks for doing what you’re doing!

I still have my Assault on Black Reach Box Set. I bought it to be my gateway into the game back when I was like 9 or 10. I really wanted to use that to get into Tau as well, but then I kind of got overwhelmed by the game as a kid.
Fast forward a decade or so and I just found it again stashed away in my Shed about a few weeks ago, and have gone on a massive painting and assembly phase, learned the rules of 8th edition, and taught its simpler aspects to a few friends. We've played a few small scale games and they all love it.
I've even created a fuckton of terrain and have found it all to be an incredibly therapeutic experience.
I may not have got into the tabletop back in 2009, but its kind of nice that eleven years later Black Reach still served as my gateway into the game despite that.
If there's one thing this video made me realize, it's that its never too late to start.
Now that I'm almost done with the set, I think its time I finally look into starting that Tau army.

I kind of want to find a fresh Black Reach set as I trashed mine when I was 12 and I want to put it all together and paint it properly, but I'm also slightly fretful at the thought of how much it might cost

I’m glad that there are people who have real issues like this so I can live vicariously through their afflictions without having to sink any money in myself. I’ll admit it, I’m a total Warhammer and 40K dilettante, who mostly plays Total War Warhammer and Dawn of War to get my fix. For everything else, there’s wonderful channels like Midwinter Minis!
I fear looking at all my unpainted - but desperately loved! - minis. They all spark joy. This is motivating, though. Thanks for your candidness!

That's no pile of shame. It is called Bitz-Box.
I can relate... sooo badly.
I helped myself with storage boxes from the hardware store that are usually used for screws and stuff. I detached all sprues and put them into those boxes. So I have a drawer full of weapons, a drawer full of human legs, torsos etc. That way at least it looks less AND you get wonderful ideas for kit bashes. Recently I built a Wasteland-Scraptank for a yet unknown purpose, out of an old revell Beetle, some weapon parts from Kromlech, an Ork BattleWagon, a Trukk, lots of small bits from various sources and some plastic card to fill the gaps.
Some time ago I did that with a firebelly, an ale guzzler gargant, a talos, some old metal parts from an old ogryn, the head of a new plastic ogryn, yet some plastic bits, some more plastic bits and lots of green stuff... to create a dreadnought sized Frankenstein's Monster armed with a flame thrower... I call him FRANKENOGRE... or just Junior.
For me it's a fun way to at least reduce the amount of unbuilt minis.
You really should sell a part of this. The models want to be build and painted, keeping them in boxes just isn't right.
Do you even have an admech army? If not, sell them, that's 32 models less in your pile fo shame.

Cut them out of the sprues, sort them (slightly) and put them in various small boxes (Still having the boxed sets together, I find zip-lock works very well for that)

You could use the terrain for a bulk painting guide for a single board color scheme. I've seen a lot of new player boards either having disjointed/not matching or not much terrain. It really helps sell the narrative if the board looks fleshed out more.

I would suggest take all the matching Spru frames and the 'metal' terrain on spru frames as cladding and use them to build a massive starship cross section book end.
Regarding the IG Taurox, "Let's make it ORKY!" I'd convert that to a Looted wagon! I'm in the same boat dude. I still have Rogue Trader era stuff bare lead & primed beakies on sprue plus untouched minis from 2nd and 3rd ed box sets.

An army painter starter paint set and for a bit of good news a GW wash set that has not dried up after sitting for a couple years because I forgot I had it.
Now if I was to go to the storage locker and dig all my Modeling stuff out well then I would break down and weep for the amount of a money just sitting (both GW and scale model).

I’m a knitter, and yarn collecting is much the same way. Many knitters (like me) buy yarn when it catches our eye and have a big old box/pile/closet/room for the stuff until we use it.
Some knitters, however, buy only what they need for their current project. Those people have self-control most other knitters find admirable and bizarre in equal measure.

That is indeed a massive #QueueOfInspiration 😜 you have there, and I like the Challenges you have set yourself! I myself am doing a #NoMinis2020Quest in which I don’t buy any Minis or hobby supplies this year (4 exceptions granted) and that has worked thus far really good - maybe something for you to consider!
