I wouldn't presume to decide for anybody with magaT friends, family etc who are semi-normal people who abandoned civic rationality out of ignorance but it would be a tough roadblock to overcome. It's also harder with family. I can't even imagine how the youngest of us feel. Even though I'm Gen Z I can't help but feel disturbed, and conflicted about how complacent my family were over the years. I never saw my loving mother the same way again since election day. Even after arguing with her twice.

I agree with this sentiment - I also express my deepest respect to people who have been forced into the decision to leave loved ones they have invested so many years of bonding and partnership because of this 'red' line from MAGA cultists. We are human, and we need trusted loved ones in our lives. The courage these folks have for leaving what is so emotionally important to them for a principle is awe-inspiring. I equate it to the courage of brave soldiers in battle.
I have asked several Trump supporters if they have ever heard him speak for more than 30 seconds. They all say NO.
I tell them to watch a rally or two from beginning to end, or at least watch the debate with Harris, then maybe you will change your mind, if you’re a rational human being that is.

My dad has changed so much since he retired from the Air Force, like he lost his confidence. He jumped on the bandwagon bashing Obama and supporting the Tea Party. I had hoped that when Trump came along he might wake up, but he’s just so easily influenced now-like you said, he’s a massive beta. Fortunately for him, my mom and sister are all aboard the crazy train with him, so he doesn’t necessarily have to worry about being alone, but my mom has definitely complained about his chronic depression, narcissism, and recent unemployment (his own damn fault, truth be told).
Embarrassingly, I fear I could very well have ended up just like them if it wasn’t for a friend calling me out for my own ignorance almost 20 years ago. So cheers to that guy.

Retired doctor here, I stopped associating with my doctor ex-friends who voted for Trump even after living though the last pandemic. I thought they learned their lesson since they were so horrified with the deaths and the risk we all went through with Covid. They just couldn't vote for someone right.

My wife and I are Australians living in Australia and just after the USA election she asked me if we lived in the USA would I want a divorce if she'd voted for tRump. I remarried before the Trump era but my 2nd husband was even more liberal than I at the time. Now I have gone further to the left and our political beliefs & values line up, which is such a blessing. But even before Trump, I never could have been with a republican. Maybe a moderate, maybe. But even a lot of moderate men have become red-pilled bros at this point.

I'm a man and being a Republican has been a deal breaker for me for a long time. So women leaving their already overbearing idiot boyfriends/ husbands over Trump is understandable and justified in my eyes. I'm a male living in another country. I am 100% in support of what these ladies have done. Their partners have in effect said that they regard women as second class people. Not worthy of consideration. They have said that they hate the ladies in their lives. Absolutely disgusting.
A lot of us women are Alphas and really don't need a man to have a great life, especially a Maga man. They don't respect women as a person, just a possession. I am so glad I was born in '52 and women became more brave as I grew up. I would never want to be a younger woman looking for a man today. My husband passed almost 3 years ago. Our core values were the same, and neither of us were affiliated to any religion. We married fairly late so we both were on the same wavelength. I would have never settled for less. I find it astonishing that religion seems to be prevalent with Maga even though their values do not align with anything Jesus taught. At 72, I just want other women to realize their strength and to never settle for a partner whose values do not align with theirs. We have to stand together against their hate and radicalism.
