  • 5+ years of use later. Quality, performance and stylish if that’s what you’re after.

    Info I forgot to mention
    1. The lining is Cambrielle, non waterproof but designed to draw moisture away from the foot.
    2. Comes in full sizes only as is typical for British MOD boots. Half sizing is achieved via a spacer (second insole designed to take up volume in the boot and thereby make it feel like it's half a size smaller).
    3. I wore out the original insole a while ago which is why I didn’t show the current one.

Good review. I hadn't considered these boots before. What other boots will you review? One vote for German para boots.

Thanks, more to come. The ones you speak of have a good reputation. I want to get a pair to try out.

    Any recommendations for insoles?

I can't say. Much will depend on the needs of your feet i.e. how high your arches are, if your feet are low or high volume etc. Best bet is trial and error in this case

Keep the originals, or get the upgraded insoles from the Altberg website.

i tried size 9, too small, brought size 10 and they have been a nightmare, the laces are a pain to ajust, the fit, the worse boots ive ever owned, had to put in extra socks and footbead just to make them bearable, not happy with them , what aload of hype on this boot.

Before you discount these boots, remember these are for military use, not really for civilians to buy. You will be fitted and issued by the QM with boots, spacers and liners to fit your feet. You don’t have that service as a civilian. What the review didn’t note is that the boot doesn’t have a Gortex lining for a reason. Once the boot is breached, the last thing you want is a Gortex lining. They will take an age to dry out. No good if you want to wear them the next day. They have a Cambrelle lining that’s basically 2-way wicking. Never polish Defenders, use the recommended Leider Gris. Best boots out there, if you have a proper fitting service and know how to maintain them.

100% Correct, if you enjoy soaking feet get yourself.... gortex!
If you want healthy feet perfect

Best boots I have ever found, soft leather, no blisters, find your own insoles even though the ones supplied are adequate, check out the Altberg how to clean dry and polish. I now have 5 pairs.

I’m a Altberg 12 across the board. Learn to lace properly… these are great out of the box with little break in time.
Done hours and mile after mile of hard training use on varied terrain
Friends also now use them instead of Hiax, Miendl etc!

@@OverlandTT Great boots I agree. Getting a bit harder to get now in very good condition. Any thoughts on the new Iturri boots?
