Hi, thank you for your kind words of my knowledge. I truly love this breed and want anyone who is considering the breed to know what they are getting into. Like any puppies they are all cute but as they get older they grow and with that growth they get curious and bored if not properly cared for. I just wanted to let people know to truly do their own research if considering this breed and if their personal life style will coexist with the DDB.

Regarding Breeders of any Dog breed.... the main goal should always be primarily breeding for health& NOT to win Dog shows. As a buyer (owner) of a dog...I could care less how many shows (prices) the father & mother of my pup has won...it doesn´t mean anything to me...What is important & crucial is how many quality years my dog will have with us...how healthy it will be. Cosmetic imperfections that won´t affect the dogs well beeing are irrelevant.

@@knix2for5 what you say is true, however, a lot of good breeders do health testing to ensure that they are not breeding a DDB who has preexisting health issues so that those issues are not passed down to their offspring. I would love to see the breed have a longer life span but the fact of the matter is we cannot have bred to another dog like the Boreboels like others have mentioned. I just got an adult male from a family that works a lot and they were coming home to a lot of mess. I’m a stay at home dad with 2 kids 9 and 5 with a female border collie pit mix and they hit it off great. The DDB sits and waits for my command to eat, he thinks he’s a lap dog and is super sweet and gentle with the kids. Never seen one that is aggressive towards people. I have a dogo argentino/dogue de bordeaux mix puppy, and seems that the bordeaux dog is the dominant gene... lazy, lovely and easygoing...
I had a female named Ruby... was sooo gentle... one day a cat nearby to home which was the total opposite of a normal cat, meaning it was not scared of humans or dogs was sitting on the walkway, as i got closer with ruby she walked closer to me as we approached the cat to pass by... i could tell she was scared 😂... she was my best friend, i love her very much and miss her everyday ❤ ❤
I was doing landscaping when there were two of these beasts roaming free and had barely any training and my god was I freaked out. They only backed off when I showed absolute firmness and stood my ground. They tested me constantly and one minute they were okay with me and the next they approached me with absolute aggression. They seems to be a bit of a nervous breed at times in my experience but that was only two that I met. Funny enough the male seemed more chill than the female. Just my opinion and experience.
