Did you see the 4.0 scam... ahem update features in their latest dev video? They're more worried about cows and birds and neck tattoos than actually fixing bugs and making it playable.
I jumped onboard just before 3.18 hit. I have yet to complete a mission. Every time I try to play I run into issues. I still have faith because, if they eventually accomplish what they're trying to do, this will be an amazing virtual universe to play in. This is a game many of us dreamed of growing up. But I got involved because I wanted to be part of it. At this rate maybe our children will be able to enjoy it. But by that time, it won't be anything amazing or Earth shattering. Before too long, considering how things are progressing in AI, I can see an AI putting out an SC type game, without bugs, literally overnight. It's still pretty amazing that you can make production level sci-fi graphics these days on the fly by just playing a game. One thing I can say is at least the buy-in is cheap. I do feel bad for the folks that have sunk thousands of dollars into this project only to see things that used to work, stop working with each new release.
I just had this thought. Star citizen is the same thing as, a company selling luxury vacations, and showing luxury suites that aren't built yet, but with enough money they can build it, and, they do have rooms you can stay in if you really want to, but everyone enjoys the idea of the luxury vacation they were sold so much they are content to wait for it to be built
At least you can retrieve your ship. There's a large subset of players who cannot retrieve any ships and are forced to lagrange stations, making the new persistent hangars useless...but at least we are getting space cows and painful 80's hair
Awesome my ass! Land my C2 at Area18, full of Hep and the game does not recognize the C2 being landed. It forces me to claim it but by claiming it I lose the freight. Happened twice this morning. That's millions of creds lost to negligence. I gotta go for a walk.
Had that happen a few times after mining, full of the good stuff. Best thing to do is try landing at another location, or bed logging. But back then bed logging also sometimes didn't work, and you wound up still loosing your cargo.
I think I like the look of Loreville and the hangers there. It just feels more real than the other cities. And it's central. I wish I had picked loreville 😢

Forgive me for being new and hopeful, but I DO think there may be some meat on the bones soon, and if not? well, who knows... As a guy who sorta not really dabbles in game dev myself, and knows how long it could take to make even a single asset... 12 years now sounds alot more reasonable when you realize that most games, even indie games, take over a year, sometimes even multiple to complete. Factor in S42, and the mere fact that some of these space ships, planet locations, and stations ALL could EASILY be repurposed into their own, standalone games. I get the frustration, I do, but what I also get is how much we (and I use the term 'we' loosely since I don't actually OWN SC yet) don't know what is going on behind the scenes. For all we know after they inevitably release server meshing they could just plop like... what, 4? 5 systems into our lap? how much stuff do they have developed for S42 but aren't releasing it for spoiler reasons? (Which I find a bit odd since we already have been spoiled when it comes to the idris ._.) So yeah, is SC garbage? Currently, yes. (From what I can tell) Is SC a promising title? Yes. Is it 15 AAA games jammed into a clownspaceship? yes. But yeah I also wanna not start playing SC only to wind up dying to "bad air", find out my ships are built like a sand castle next to an ocean, fall through the floor in an attempt to take a totally intentional shortcut, or get finally get shot up by pirates in the most engaging space game experience I've ever had! ... only to realize that this was my 31st attempt over the course of 5 weeks to do one simple cargo mission because I have at MAX 2 hours of play time a day, and it takes 1 hour every single day just to get to my ship, and another to get into space. (These are just some things I've heard)
Since 3.18 me and my friends just could never do anything in game cause something would break for someone. This time only had one issue. We could not see each other's markers. I'll take it
As for CPU's melting? No one I know out of dozens in our discord has had this be a thing. Where is that coming from? I will have to google I guess. My CPU sits around 65c when I play. Does not mean some combination of hardware is not affected that is for sure. Just I have not had anyone with that issue.
