+OptimusPounds I was cringing the entire way through at the crowd. I don't know how they can't at least bob their heads, it's hard not too. It was pretty dire when Ellie said "it's great to be here in America" and got a single woop back

It's been their new thing for awhile...I have viewed at least 15 Live performances of Wolf Alice from 2015 onward, and they typically do this stage alignment now. Not sure if there is a significance behind the arrangement? But it still works for me!

One of my all-time favorite bands, and they perform so damn well, every Live performance!! I can hardly wait to see them Live one day!! I was going to attend a show they had at a smaller venue in Joliet, IL...but it sold out not only before I could purchase a ticket, but a well 7 month period before the concert date!!
Tough crowd. Reminds me of that scene in Back to the Future when Marty finishes his solo "I kinda guess you guys aren't ready for this yet"
Such a great set in front of a totally listless crowd. Still, a good test for a great band. They didn't let it phase them one bit, just did their thing and got out of there. Ellie looks so cool throughout. For someone seemingly so shy she really shines on the stage. This sort of thing is what happens when these festivals go corporate. You end up with a crowd with no sense of good music. I mean "Giant Peach" didn't even get many of them moving!
So freaking true!! All these dumb college kids take over those festivals and all they care about are shitty rap bangers and getting wasted. It makes great indie rock bands like wolf Alice really difficult to be noticed. So if you don't sound like a mainstream rapper, crowds like that at festivals are extremely hard to impress.
Joff is such a great underrated guitarist. Quick, name someone else who sounds like him. I rest my case...
Johnny Marr. Simple. Understated.
Jonny Greenwood and Ed OBrien are great at making the guitar sound unlike a guitar. Same goes for Joey Santiago of Pixies.
His mode is unique

For as unaware as they were, I hope some in the crowd discovered that "magic moment" during Blush that says this was a special and talented group.
The crowd acts like they are at a tax seminar or a Joel Osteen sermon. While listening to one of the best bands to tour in 10-15 years.
Odd seeing Theo on stage right and Joff on stage left. Usually they are reversed. The band sounds as tight as ever. Great camera work too. Thanks for posting this!

I feel bad for Wolf Alice. You could tell they started getting lazy and were super bummed at the end of show. I would loved to have seen them live.

I got to see them 4 times at this sxsw but missed this performance. The crowd was much better at the other shows. I think it also had something to do with Fader Fort playing more rap/hip hop acts during festival...so these people might not have appreciated the music as much.

Damn, that is a shit audience. The band played a great gig even though. I saw hundreds of american bands over here in Europe, that nobody knew at the time and were not half as good. But they were always treated well by the audience.

Also, as a band onstage, the lameness of the crowd affects their playing. Ellie almost looks like she can't wait for this set to be over. And I've seen her at many, MANY events. NEVER have I seen her look so bored. No matter, Wolf Alice is rising to the top faster than a bullet. Two of the best shows I've seen was Paris & Glastonbury. Crowd really sucks. I am a Brit in the US going to the April gig in WI (driving from MN). I am hoping the crowd is a lot lot better.

Honestly the crowd is so lame because first of all, it's texas lol, and only rappers and ridiculous hardcore bands get the crowds crazy down there. All the guys are too insecure with their manly-hood to show any emotion towards music that isn't a band that's all dudes screaming about their issues lmao
