Ramadan Mubarak 2024❤!! ☪️ This video is such a gem, back again this Ramadan & still learning from it:
    1. 🧂Don't have extra salts/electrolytes especially when breaking fast 1:25
    2. 💧Drink small amount [300ml] of water periodically between sunset and dawn 2:15
    3. 🌴 Break fast with dates* infused with cinnamon 3:30 & 9:15 [*4:35 preferably have dates with second meal, see #5 below]
    4. 🥚For first meal, have lean bland proteins (chicken breast, sardine tin or boiled egg) 4:00
    5. 🍚 After (praying Magrib prayers) about an hour, for second meal, eat veggies, molokhiya, rice & curries (i.e. little carbs with more protein)
    6. 🐟 If you're still awake (after Tarwih prayers or for the third and final meal, suhoor) eat some satiating fats & omega 3s (e.g. cod liver and its oil) but avoid❌ fibres/veggies this late 8:30
    7. 🏃🏼‍♀️ Go for a jog before dawn (fajr), if you want/need to work out 7:15
    8. 🏋🏼‍♀️ Train just before sunset (magrib), so you can break fast right after working out 5:50
    9. 🌿 After Ramadan ends, have lots of green teas, omega 3s (especially if you ate too much samosas, pizzas and Omega 6s) 11:50
    10. 🌔 After Ramadan ends, do the six fasts of the month of Shawwal and continue [intermittent] fasting every Mondays and Thursdays as per sunnah.
BONUS: fast the three "white days" 13th,14th,15th of every Islamic [lunar] months, these are called "white days" as on these nights it's always a full moon 13:30
    11. 🌜 Thank you Thomas much appreciate your research and advice it's amazing how closely it resembles the advice of our Prophet Mohammed PBUH, peace be upon him, and I'm sure I'll be revisiting this video again next year March 2025 (ان شاء الله next Ramadan)

the growth hormone secretion during fasting is insignificant in volume.
fasting is a good practice. but the real benefits of fasting comes through engaging in mindful observation of Ramadan practices, not the adaptive changes here and there, which the body modulates in response to a starving situation. you get more out of Ramadan by choosing to be a good Muslim, which I wish I could have done with real seriousness. and I'm talking about actual physiological benefits, not the main Islamic objective of enhancing your taqwa. the mindful practices does more for your cortisol regulations and managing chronic stress than any feeding practice. we know this scientifically now. but it's great that you're feeling good. hope you continue to feel awesome.

    Diet:
    - you don’t need to take any form of electrolytes during a dry fast
    - 300 - 500 ml of water in hour at maximum
    - First meal: Break your fast with lean protein, keep it as bland as possible (Fish and poultry recommended)
    - Second meal(1 hour later): little bit of carbs (maybe a little bit of quinoa, dates teff, some gluten-free starch of some kind) and protein
    - Third meal (if it's not too late at night): eat fibers (flax, chia, artichoke, asparagus recommended)
    - Don’t have a whole lot of veggies and a whole lot of fiber prior to starting your fast
    - consider taking in some cinnamon shortly after breaking fast (you can add it to dates)
    - what supplements to take: nothing additional to your routine, Coenzyme q10 (for extra metabolic benefit), Magnesium, Algae oil or Fish oil (Omega 3).
    - after you're done with your 30 days of Ramadan highly recommend to consume a lot of green tea, ginger, turmeric. also implement intermittent fasting a couple days per week so you can be adapted next time
    Workout:
    - Get mild workout towards the end of your fast, don’t go at super intense level
    - focus on time under tension, do slower moves where you're focusing on muscle focusing on toning
    - if you wanted to do cardio, do cardio upon waking just in a fasted state and then eat something prior to going into your fast so cardio and if you sweat then you may want to consider taking in some electrolytes

As well as every Monday and Thursday of every other month in the year. There are also other days that are sunnah to fast during the course of the year. So it should be easier to continue the benefits after Ramadan. That's for the information, brilliant!

Narrated Anas ibn Mālik رضي الله عنه:
The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to break his fast before praying with some fresh dates; but if there were no fresh dates, he had a few dry dates, and if there were no dry dates, he took some mouthfuls of water.
    [Sunan Abu Dawud 2356]
Miqdam bin Madikarib رضي الله عنه said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: ‘A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a human being to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must (fill it), then one third of food, one third for drink and one third for air.’”
    [Sunan Ibn Majah 3349]

  • @banirahman4926
    @banirahman4926 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I am a Muslim. When we break fast at our house we just eat one date and water. After that we pray Maghrib prayer and then eat the main meal. We try to eat a healthy meal and not overeat. Then we have some tea and go to mosque to pray long prayer which is really beneficial physically and emotionally. We feel great after this prayer. Most important thing that makes fasting easier is to have the pre dawn meal. Many people do not feel like eating at that time. But if you do you will not feel weak throughout the day. And it’s really difficult to have too much water at one meal. So best thing to do is to drink water several times from sunset to dawn. Just spread out your water intake. Fasting in Ramadan is amazing and truly beneficial for us in every way.

  • @pritulkhan1395

Great video! I have been doing intermittent fasting when it's not Ramadan for health reasons. But I think a lot of people gain weight during Ramadan due to cultural reasons rather than religious reasons. Especially in South Asian culture where the breaking of the fast is full of carbs and fried food and the meals are often a social event with family.
The Prophet peace be upon him says to eat in moderation, to fill 1/3 of your stomach with solid foods, then the next 2/3rd with liquids, and the other 3rd leave it empty. Many people are not following the prophet's tradition and that's why people become gluttonous during this time.
Kudos to you for making this video man!

Thank You, Thomas for your kind efforts. A lot of us Muslims forget about other recommended acts during Ramadan that benefit us both spiritually and physically, like eating as little as possible or at least one third of stomach for food, one third for drinks and one third for air, eating wholesome pure food, and spending part of the night in multiple sets of prayers that include standing, bowing, stretching, prostration and meditation. Overeating at the end of fast is strongly against Islamic teachings and that is the reason why some Muslims gain weight in Ramadan instead of losing. I applaude your suggestion on working out right before breaking fast, we call it the time between asr prayer and maghreb prayer! That is my favorite time to work out, I feel amazing pump when working out in a fasted state right before Maghreb Prayer!

Thank you for this video Mr. DeLauer. Today is the 14th day of Ramadhan and I'm totally change my way performing it, especially during the iftar or breaking the fast. Nope, no more over intake of carbs and sugars. Just 3 dates and warm unsweetened tea. Plus, on the 10th day of Ramadhan, I've opted to combined dry fast on the day, water fast during the night, and 5km of pace-7 running around an hour before breaking fast. I've never felt so good before, both physically and mentally.

Most people don't fast as it is actually supposed to be done as a result end up actually consuming more calories and carbs than they normally would. Main purpose of ramadan is to teach us discipline and obedience which if done correctly has immense health benefits that are now being proven with science. I have always been able to exercise better and eat heathier in ramadan than any other time of the year Alhamdulilah. For a non-muslim to put this much time and effort in understanding the concept of ramadan fasting and its health benefits is commendable 👌🏻💯❤️

I super appreciate your facts from studies to help us Muslims during our dry fasting. I’m thrilled that dry fasting kicks up the autophagy process. I’ve been doing OMAD with only water in early morning before starting dry fast, which here in Indiana, USA is about 14.5 hours of dry fasting. I will apply several ideas from this episode to improve my fasting results for this Ramadan (2022). Thanks a million, again!!!!!👍🏼🤠

Its actually recommended to fast Mon and Thurs weekly and 3days mid-month every month.

Finally something that we Muslims need to hear. As a whole, we are more used to the fast that's taught by our prophet ﷺ, and we don't all know that interimittent fasting is different.
Now that you mentioned about 30 days fasting, we also "dry fast" every other days besides the month of Ramadhan. There's the weekly Monday and Thursday fast. There's also the fast of Daud where we dry fast in alternating days, example mon > wed > fri > sun > tue > thu> sat> and so on. I think the diet plan for those fasting days need to be addressed too.

I am wondering if anyone else has ever tried this?

  • @fyzr
    @fyzr 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Notes from the vid:
    - 1-2 cups of water every hour after breaking fast
    - For the first meal, (breaking fast), eat lean, bland proteins (eggs, chicken, sardines). You can have dates, but max is 3 - dates are preferred in the second meal. Also, take cinnamon, as this insures that you exploit the glucose better and actually do something with it, rather than just keeping your blood sugar high.
    - After praying Maghrib, (about an hour later), your second meal should be a little more carbs, but still more protein. Incorporate veggies.
    - Later in the night, incorporate satiating fats and fiber (chia seeds); fibers help utilize the fat better
    - Suhoor: eat complex carbs but DO NOT eat fibers and veggies, because this will draw water to the intestines.
    - WORKOUT: mild workout towards end of fast; focus more on muscles, not cardio. If you want to do cardio, however, wake up earlier for Suhoor and do cardio before eating (this is when you can consider electrolytes)
    - Just a general tip for supplements during fasting; you don’t need to add much, but it would be useful to add omega 3, because you will be deprived of them after the 30 days, as you are eating more processed food and stuff. (Fish oil is good, but there is also a vegetarian option called algal oil)
    - TIP: during fasting, autophagy occurs, which is basically recycling of cellular components. This can create new proteins/amino acids. To continue this autophagy, after the 30 days of Ramadan, drink green tea, eat ginger and turmeric, so it can further stabilize the autophagy process.
    - Another tip is that you can and should implement intermittent fasting a couple days per week so your body is more used to fasting and doesn’t feel overwhelmed the next time around

Thanks for the video (and for taking the time to learn about our ways).
Since I had my gall bladder removed I had to change a few things and now here's my diet: 10kg loss garanteed.
Start with 1 to 3 dates
Eat a big salad, really enjoy yourself, don't hold back.
Wait 10 minutes (set a timer)
Eat meat (no bread, season it the way you life, enjoy yourself)
Wait 10 minutes (set a timer)
Drink a big glass of your favorite non-carbonated soda (in fact remove them for the whole month, if you need something bubbly go for San Pellegrino)
Wait 10 minutes (set a timer)
Voilà, you can eat what you want BUT you have to start with salad and continue with meat and respect the time in between each serving.
    Saha Ftourkem :)

Wow! That information about the electrolytes is actually super helpful! For a lot of Muslim-majority cultures, electrolyte rich drinks are common during iftar, and I have to wonder if maybe this is due to the fact that traditionally Ramadan was always during the hottest month of the year in a desert climate before the hijri calendar became completely fixed to the moon, not the solar seasons, under the 2nd caliphate, and the tradition of electrolyte-rich drinks just stuck in case Ramadan falls in the hot season on any given year maybe. Does sweating a lot cause the sodium levels to significantly decrease despite vasopressin being released? 🤔 New revert here doing my due diligence studying, definitely gonna look to find the healthiest way to do Ramadan too. So far I think I’ve been doing good, but I really appreciate this information.

I would add - eat normally - ditch the super sweet treats like gulab jamun, burfee, and falooda.
I used to do dry fasting and played league soccer ⚽️ - 90 minutes. It can be done. I didn’t feel too knackered.

I am so sorry for you get to this conclusion.
Who knows better him or God?
Fasting was ordered for all 3 divine religions.
And as a muslim you should doubt what come from non believers.
And if you want to know the truth you would listen to what muslim doctors, scientists, researchers, scholars are saying about any islamic matter.
And once you hear someone saying the opposite of what your creator is saying , you should side by what God is telling you and not by what other humans are saying.
      He is an ignorant.
