    Thank you for your rigorous journalism that looks into context and history. I've learned a lot from your videos.
    I've been bombarded by videos online full of misinformation that lack context, rigor, investigation/weighing of the evidence. These online creators/conservative influencers accuse mainstream corporate media of lying but end up spreading more lies themselves.
    Maybe a video about how people can be critical consumers of information/news would be helpful.

  • @galesiege6099
    @galesiege6099 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

    This is certainly a very pivotal moment of the channel(s). I must say though, it's also a very crucial moment to choose your next steps very carefully.
    I think that the downfall of legacy media is when they grew too big, they involved too many people and stakeholders to the point that it's almost impossible to "stay objective".
    What's also concerning is when everyone is under the same umbrella, then that umbrella could have taken control of the narrative. "Independent media" holds a lot of value nowadays exactly because they are independent. Alone, to some degree.
    When they grow too big involving way too many people, it's hard to consider them independent. The sense of relatable might diminish sharply.
    I hope it doesn't come to that.

    • @Biga101011
      @Biga101011 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I don't think that it lost it's objectivity due to size, but due to a change in landscape. Journalism went from trying to give people information to trying to help frame that information for people. That step of framing it and forming a narrative is fundamentally subjective.
      The benefit of independent media is that even though they may still deliver a narrative along with the facts they uncover, they will be able to present that narrative how they each see it.
      Big media companies have always worked together to create a consistent narrative. The big question is are they going to fall for the same trap of getting everyone to deliver consistent messaging or if they will allow each to deliver their own message as they see it. Is it collaboration or oversight. If one spreads a narrative that the mother ship disagrees with do they cut ties, silence it or let them speak for themselves.

    • @julius43461
      @julius43461 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Biga101011 Media is just way too powerful. There is no way you can do news or journalism without an agenda.
      The fundamental flaw is that you are trying to present reality to people, but you can never show them absolutely everything that happened, so you are stuck with creating a narrative.
      Picture this, you are a journalist who leans left, but you do everything in your power to be as objective as you can be. One day you capture a video of a conservative being beat up by a group of democrats in a protest. Then you also see, but fail to capture a democrat getting much more severely beat up by a group of conservatives.
      What's your next move? Do you even publish the first video? You know that a video like that is going to make your side look bad, while you don't have a video of the opposite happening, even though you know the opposite happened as well and it was much more severe.

I’m from Mexico and think understanding our neighbor is crucial, especially now. People in this country need to see the other side of the coin, see in a mirror and stop blaming immigrants & drugs. So much of the problem has to do with Americans not wanting to take responsibility of being the starters and fuel of the problem.

    Johnny & Team,
    You guys are brilliant. I feel like I’ve spent half the day with you - all your videos are great. I am starting a podcast/TH-cam channel that is going to be focused on Colorado. I want to combine great journalism with activism - to get people engaged, and to help them understand that they have agency to make things happen. This is a beautiful place, but we seem to have a ton of corruption and a lack of focus on things that really matter, like an oil refinery only 4 miles from Downtown that puts out toxic levels of hydrogen cyanide that’s been cited for EPA violations numerous times, or a state employee pension system that spends $60 million a year on overhead and management, but underperforms other states that spend a small fraction of this. I ran for State Treasurer here, and I lost, but I got 175,000 votes, and I learned that people on all sides of the political spectrum are looking for leaders who can do math and think big. Producing great content takes a lot of time and resources, and I know you might not be able to help me individually, but one idea - could you have a bootcamp or training program for those of us who are aspiring journalists?

    another very interesting channel is exciting, but I do have a lot of questions:
    - is newpress a media company, an MCN (Multi-Channel Network), or something else?
    - What role does newpress play in the channels that join it?
    - What level of direction will it have for the independent journalists that join it and what resources does it provide them?
    - What does it cost the journalists for them to be a part of newpress?
    I image that you'll answer all of these in due time (probably as soon as you have a logo), but in the meantime I'll go subscribe to tunnel vision.

      - it’s a media company. Channels owned by company and talent hired with a revenue share.
      - they share infrastructure / operations - non creative employees like payroll ops hr etc. plus borrow creatives before they have their own teams and can justify hires
      - see previous; they will be relatively hands off so they don’t stomp on the channel producer / talent and their vision (Christophe in this case) but advice and share creative workload as requested / needed especially early days
      - their output is owned by the company, they are employees, so less independence than solo creators but more independent than being at last wave of new media like Vox etc. trying to split the difference of risk/reward. Like getting your own channel incubated lower risk and with hopefully pre built distribution through association w Johnny. But you are ultimately an employee with a lot of independence and a profit share

    Greeting from Germany. 🇩🇪
    Johnny, please bring that Journalism also to Europe. I´m sure there are a lot of journalists who think in a similar way about this profession here.
    Anyway we need a better journalism in Europe that unites us instead of pushing us apart.
    Keep the work up, I appreaciate it so much and share it as much as possible ❤

    I think there is an interesting opportunity for a channel dedicated to rebuttals, highlighting differences of opinions and debating of facts from other creators that are providing constructive criticism of your work, e.g. Ryan McBeth’s criticism of your defense spending video. I like both of you as new press creators and I want to see what you agree on and where you diverge in a constructive and mutually beneficial way (like sharing revenue from the rebuttal channel with those who disagree with you but are constructive and working in good faith to share truth and knowledge).

It would be good for you to let us know if you ever get into any sticky situations like that.
