Its interesting how having proper funds and time to care about your daily habits can cause you to deviate so much from what is so culturally American. American habits are the habits of people with low funds and lacking free time, but with an abundance of materials. Naturally, the people will gravitate to the cheapest and quickest options available. Being given the blessing to deviate from that can make you seem almost alien to the average viewer.

Uh, MSG is actually pretty bad for you.
Well, it's OK in very small amounts but.. That amount is smaller than what most people think.
I used to eat a chef Salad from a place that was absolutely (strangely) delicious... It was ice berg lettuce and cheap dressing! But I and my co-workers couldn't get enough of it.
After awhile I realized that I was getting headaches after eating it.
Then I realized that even the lettuce in the salad tasted delicious without any dressing....
Things clicked and I realized that they were washing the lettuce in water absolutely FULL of MSG.

They are usually sold as street food here in Mexico, and are made by opening a Doritos bag and stacking it as much as possible with peanuts, grated carrots, grated jicama, cucumber, hot sauce and lemon. You will still enjoy Doritos but all the vegetables add a great flavor and gets you into eating healthy food to somehow "neutralize" all the junk you are eating in the Doritos.

Some people don't like cooking with it, but that's usually just because aromat makes it a bit too easy, and it can overpower more subtle tastes, but hell if it makes a plain potato taste really good ill use it, and it sure does.

Here in Canada, ketchup flavour Doritos are mind boggling. They're like this tomato-ey umami experience with a little zing and some sweetness. Instead of using a cheese/dairy seasoning base, they use nutritional yeast and tomato powder, along with MSG and the usual list of unpronounceables. I remember them growing up, but they got discontinued at some point. A few years ago, Frito-Lay brought them back as a limited time "Throwback" and have been doing so every summer. My mouth is watering just describing them, and I haven't had any in months.

It's 8am and Johnny has no idea what video he will post next. Beads of sweat begin to appear under his hipster beanie. He sighs deeply as he tears open his morning bag of doritos... 'What could the next video be?' he wonders, lost in a hazy of indecision and angst... then, as he reaches his bamboo chopsticks into the chip bag, a ray of sunlight from his window hits the orange triangle... a message from the heavens. Suddenly, Johnny knows exactly what to do. He texts his team: "This will be the biggest story we've ever told." Then, he blows on the dorito chip, sending orange dust everywhere... and when the dust clears, Johnny is gone.

A video on gluten would be interesting to me as a person with celiac.
For me gluten seems to be in everything, especially with cross contamination. I’ve gotten sick from non-labeled gluten free oils and spices. Then I also get sick if people have used wheat flour in the room earlier in the day.
For a while gluten free was a health craze even when people didn’t have medical conditions where they needed to be gluten free for. But then when you asked people what gluten was, they couldn’t tell you what it was but were gluten free.

Like , we could get a real selection of Doritos flavors that are more breakfast oriented.
Imagine the possibilities if we just put the cheese aside for a moment 😛
PS - Monosodium glutamate also happens to be a neuro transmitter. I'm not sure how our body metabolizes it when we ingest it , but it sure would explain the clarity of mind we feel after eating some food that contains it. Also , sodium has the nasty effect of hardening our arteries for a duration , which could explain why some studies suggest that this additive it's completely safe for human consumption. As always , moderation in all things is key in maintaining a balanced life style.

Don't do the Doritos, but do add the miso soup, just don't make it the way they do. Find instructions that doesn't kill the probiotics the way they did in this video. You can get dashi stock granules instead of the dried kelp, but the important part is the refrigerated, live culture, miso paste. Miso soup is a two minute process and you can make it by the cup. They probably make a vat of it because there's a lot of people sharing that pot. It's very easy to make a single cup each day.

Hi Johnny, you will probably never read this but I just wanted to say thank you 🙏. You constantly deliver content in a quality that actually blows my mind. I do some video and podcast production as a side hustle and I am so impressed by your work because I know what it means to produce content. Your Videos have always the right atmosphere with perfect light perfect backgrounds Cristal clear audio mind blowing animations unbelievable colour grading and we don’t even talk about the cutting. And that only the technical side. We all in media know that content is king and that’s where your real skills are. The storylines are perfect in length and are so exiting to watch. I am easily bored by videos and movies and almost never watch a full movie but your videos keep me hooked. All the research in the background all those really hard to get information. Most people probably don’t know but to get those information you must have scraped trough 100 of hours of hearing and must have read 1000ths of pages. And you still managed to understand all that filter it put it in context and transformed it into a logical true and easy digestible format where you not only be entertained but learn so much while enjoying true cinematic quality. You give the world everything and talk about the leave of your church and therapy for men and manage to be the coolest and most stylish dude in the room and not make it feel that because you have this strength to show your weaknesses that you are superior. You don’t try to be missionary you just tell what you think while being so humble. And you have managed to make this your living. As a young person on a point where you choose your way in which direction you go and which career you choose finding your channel was truly a game changer for me. To see that people do what they love ( I strongly believe that you love what you do because without that the perfection you deliver is not possible) for a living and be successful and are able to share the passion is literally life changing. I am so lucky to live in a time and in a place where I have the opportunity to see people on the internet do things I would have been to scared to try and have success with it. I might choose a different part than you and you will probably never read this but I just wanted to let you know what kind of an impact you have on peoples live. A friend of mine got motivated from your videos and instead of going on with his business degree he works as a videographer now and travels the world to film hotels to get experience and to learn the skills needed to pursue a career like you. Long text but just thank you for your work and be sure more people appreciate it than you think. I rarely write comments and other people don’t even have a TH-cam account but there are many of us that think like that. Thank you 🙏

Ugh, I actually just went and bought some Dorritos for the first time in YEARS because of this video. Now I remember why I stopped eating them... They taste horrible. Sun Chips are so much better tasting.
MSG is in soooo much stuff. I used to work in an office building with a small restaurant on the main floor. All my coworkers raved about their chief salad. It was simple, cheap iceberg lettuce etc.
I tried it one day, and it was AMAZING. I started getting it regularly. Then I realized that I was getting headaches a few hours after EVERY time I had it.
Then I really started paying attention to the flavor of the salad without any dressing. It was strangely salty and umami.
The light flipped on and I realized that they were washing the lettuce in water full of MSG.
I never ate that salad again.. Told all my coworkers about the headaches and all of them realized that the same thing happened to them.
.... It was apparently a ton of MSG. I'm not joking when I said that the lettuce was "salty".. But it was different then table salt of course.
MSG Is great in small doses... But a lot places that use it go way over board like that place.

It's fascinating to observe the constant, mindless demonizaton of "corporations" in contemporary American content.
    Corporations bad, people good.
When Ikeda creates MSG to market to poor Japanese farmers, he's just an angel try to "elevate their meals." How wonderful!

Try scrambled eggs on sour dough with Greek yoghurt sprinkled with dill and then drizzle chilli oil over it.

I love these videos that take a deep dive into your life and weird things. Cuz lets be real, we all have our "weird things" that other people would look at and go "Wait, really?". (Oh and the editing was top notch!)

i just added a little cheddar cheese power, a healthy pinch of msg to some homemade popcorn and i can't stop eating it. this isn't the first time i learned how msg is the fifth sense of taste. i saw a popcorn taste test video a while back and finally tried it. unbelievable.

Nutritional yeast is also great on popcorn, and it's fairly good for you (has a number of B vitamins, potassium, and zinc, as well as protein)!

I like seeing you have so much fun editing videos now. This feels different from your very serious more 'journalistic' videos. kudos!

wow i remember when my parents would take us to this Japanese place as a kid they would say theyre taking us there cuz the MSG helps with sleep, crazy that was a thought, but also interesting that they didnt pose it as a negative benefit, but a positive benefit

Cheetos with chopsticks were a habit among multiple D&D groups I've been in. Keeps the character sheets legible.

First of all, LIVING for the Doritos ASMR. Second of all, I did notice the chopsticks and Doritos and Third, I approve this iconic behaviour and Oscar Isaac does the same thing but with Cheetos.
