The problem with this injury is not that it is as devastating as an Achilles or torn ACL but it can linger for rest of your life. It can flare up at a given moment and set you back, so for a Rookie to have this kind of is devastating.
I have Plantar Fasciitis, it's not a football injury. It slowly develops if you have tight tendons on the bottom of your foot. I don't know if they just don't want to disclose his real injury or he has foot pain and are calling it that.
Plantar fascistis is inflammation of the tendon that connects the toes to the heel bone. The standard treatment is physical therapy and rest, if it flares they can also use cortosone and other steroidal treatments. Surgery is generally only a last resort. It can be chronic , but from what i can tell it doesnt have to be
He’ll be okay. It’s a great time of year to have a relatively minor superficial surgery like this. There’s no deep tissue trauma here, they’re not debriding muscle or even cutting through it. They’re releasing a ligament on the sole of the foot.
The career arc of a high Joe Douglas pick on the oline. Promising rookie season. Is this our next brick/Mangold ?? Ooh injured. Oh injured again. Hey do we pick up this fifth year option or...? I guess this guy isn't what we thought. Oh wow look that guy we drafted way back is doing great for another team and trashing the jets! Becton, AVT, Fashanu, Tippman, and heck even max Mitchell if you want. All are somewhere on this path.
Lmao mostly accurate albeit, a tad bleak. Fashanu will be fine though. He’s a relatively light athletic frame and there’s no structural damage to the leg. Very different on both counts from becton
New reports indicate surgery might not be needed -Staley (NY daily news)
This team has to be bullshitting at this point

Thanks negative nancy
Yeah, you are not wrong. But not this time, lets go OLU!
Merry Christmas to all JETS Family
Plantar fasciitis would not put him on crutches. This doesn’t make sense, they just aren’t saying

Yeah but that's like a last resort thing though isn't it? It's not usually treated with surgery I don't think.
*Plantar is nuts*, thank god we can shut him down and not have to worry about him being ready for a stretch run, man are we so fortunate 😅
I have plantar fascitis. I am 74 years old. You can live with it.
Surgery, that's odd for that condition. Usually it's just rest, anti-inflamatories and maybe cortisone injections. Surgery isn't the usual treatment.
They came out and corrected and said no surgery needed
Hopefully we're just playing it safe.
It's amazing
