You are an awesome courageous person I want to learn to para glide also learn to hang glide but when I can afford it etc stay blessed brother And keep up with this awesome hobby
As a Swiss paraglider i'm surpriesed how fast you can become a pilot in other countries. I had to do a theoratical test in different topics like weather, material, swiss flightsectors or fligh rules with about 80 multiple choice question. I had to have at least 50 flights to go to the practical test where i had to pass 2 of 3 flights with some flight maneuver like: do a backward start, fly two cicles in 20 seconds and land inside of a ø30m circle. Everything was controlled by the swiss paragliding assotiation.
Sounds like a solid requirement but also a bit cumbersome and expensive. Do you think an extensive training like this is necessary or could you just get extra training if the area requires this of you? eg an area with treacherous winds. I`m thinking about getting off the ground in a "basic" course as shown here. I would appreciate your input!
That's why the English phrase "All that glitters is not gold" fit into this situation. There is a big difference between just flying and safely flying in all weather and emergency situations.
sorry to break it down for you bro, but.... all countries that have big salaries, have people that profit on it. all high salary countries suck, big time.
I am from Ecuador, and I learned by myself, just reading and watching videos on youtube. What a difference to have instructors such as the ones on this video. It would have solved many errors, mistakes and errors I have commited. This is a extremely dangerous sport if not properly learned. Great video, great teaching
Note to self.. if you’re into hanging out with middle age men from 6am -10pm for weeks on end pick up paragliding. If you’re a single women having trouble finding dates there is no better place than air sports. The odds are good but the goods are odd
I wish my flight school was as professional and caring as yours. Today I witnessed a crash because the instructor on the landing site couldn't follow the student(maybe he was busy doing something else) and she applied full brakes too early and fell down from a height. She broke her back and was in a lot of pain. It was one of her first flights... The ambulance took her and the flights have continued as nothing has happened. Before the crash, the instructors told me that they forgot to bring my wing and it would be OK if I used the smaller wing which the weight limit was lower than my weight. I had never flown with this wing and I got nervous because there was almost no wind and I had to run a lot during the takeoff and landing... After seeing the crash and all of this, I refused to fly. Seeing that poor girl in so much pain in the ER and all of this bullcrap, I gave up on paragliding... Because where I am, there is not a lot of options when it comes to flight schools and this school was supposed to be the best... From your videos, I understand that you do this job right. Thanks for caring for the lives of your students and doing a good job. Hope some people (so called instructors) could learn something from your videos.
Hi Maker. I'm very sad to hear about your bad experience. I hope the girl made a full recovery? The truth is that learning to fly is not without risks, but we can keep these risks to a minimum by learning progressively at the right pace for each student and of course making safety the number one priority. I'm sorry if you've been put off continuing with the sport, but after your experience it's easy to understand. If you do give it another chance I wish you much better luck. Peace

Great video! I’m actually in the middle of a course now. I’m an American living in Beijing, China. There’s a small club here just north of the city and my instructor has a bit over 30 years experience. Being a 17,000 hour helicopter pilot myself the theory, air law, weather etc all come to me fairly quickly as you’d expect. I’ve had 5 ground handling lessons of about 4 hours each with a couple different sized wings and tomorrow we are driving to the seaside where the wind is a little more reliable and I will do my first flights on a low gradient hillside. Looking forward to it. Maybe when the pandemic has been relegated to the land of bad dreams I can come out there for a visit and a fly. Thanks for posting the video.
Hi Bob. Thank you. Good luck with your course. If you've found an instructor in China with 30 years experience, you've done very well. (It's a very fast growing sport in China) Hope to see you in Ager one day
In the UK the average age of a paraglider pilot is low to mid-50's. We have 2 pilots in our club who are mid-70's and loving it! A friend flew tandem with a lady in her late 80's!!! It's never too late!
I’ve always wanted to become a pilot but I lost my eye 3 years ago in a pellet gun accident. For those who don’t know, you have to have 20/20 vision to become a pilot. I’ve always depended on glasses but up until I lost my eye, I planned on getting plastic eye surgery. This video has motivated me to get into the hobby of paragliding and perhaps start my own school to teach others like myself who may be unable to achieve their flying goals

Great video Toby and credit to Kieran for the editing. I've flown at this site many times with Passion, I keep coming back so they must be doing something right 😁
Missed out the summitless hill climbs in baking hot heat, the draggings, the endless hours sat on the side of the hill and the fence collisions. Not to forget the messed up launches with every man and his dog watching. Getting to watch the casualties being airlifted from the mountain. Dealing with tangled lines, over and over. Wondering what that tearing noise is coming from your harness 500m above some powerlines. The crash landings, the being ripped off your feet. Being thrown about all over the sky. That point where you realise you're flying backwards, over a village. Great fun though.
Great video Toby. I'm missing my Hang Gliding holiday this year and those views of Ager brought back all the fun flying I've had there. It almost makes me want to sign-up for a course !!
Highly recommend this School, everything was very controlled, methodical and disciplined, I felt more nervous sitting on the back of a horse. Course was confidence-inspiring and held in the most beautiful setting of Ager; I recommend spending a few days in Barcelona either side of the course but it is a great way to learn a new skill in a safe fashion and take your life in a new direction with trips and meeting people with a shared interest. We had a lady in my group, I don't know why women seem so under-represented in this sport/hobby/pastime because it is not a male reserve and requires only a reasonable levels of unfitness to get a Wing off the ground. Would highly recommend this as a week away for the girls or an activity-based Hen night with a difference. I'll be in within a couple of months for the CP course after the August break, so glad I chose Passion Paragliding, very reassuring.
An excellent representation of getting started on your paragliding journey with a top team at Passion Paragliding. Toby and his team's attention to detail and customer care is exceptional. Their knowledge of local areas and weather is fantastic and if it's possible to fly they will make it happen. Personally, I'm looking forward to flying in Ager this year with Toby, Mike and the gang. Great camera work Kieran Campbell! Were the Coca Cola cans in the classroom deliberate product placement? ;)
Very good video. It might be worth making clear in the kit familiarisation bit that the kit belongs to the school and you don't have to make any investment in kit until you know you want to carry on. Obvious if you know how most schools work, but not necessarily to someone watching the video...
I like it so much, and want to learn it. But it's so expensive here in India. I don't know how but it would be possible one day for me. I am waiting for that day.......
I'm a 63 year old paraglider student. I wish I had started this 10 years ago. One thing is you need to be more fit that I am. I'm a power point/excel engineer which means I'm out of shape. It took me 5 lessons to not be so tired learning to Kite and to make the hike back up after a cliff launch and flight. I'm now half way in shape to get good kiting practice. But the instructors are not giving me any slack and I dont ask for any. So if you're out of shape get in shape before you take lessons. (Or find a school that trucks you back up the cliff). I dont know how anyone can become a P1 is a day. Maybe after 3 or 4 days. Maybe some place with calm weather? who knows. Anyway if you are thinking about it just do it, before you physically cant.
Dear mister Toby. I am your channel subskriber. Your videos are the best explanation off teqnice ever i seen. You are super professional and experienced master. Therefore I have one question: which wing to buy: Nova Prion5 or Davinci point?
8:03 I'm not sure about that arms in the back stance. It's usually taught as the thing to do but notice how _badly_ it influences the entire body: the pilot does not look up to check the wing's inflation (it's very hard to move your head up with your arms in the back like this). I could never understand what the _point_ of this was. The official version of the story is that when you bend forward and down like this, you'll be able to examine your shoelaces more closely, um, no, sorry, the official version is that in this body stance one can easily push on the front ("A") risers to give more energy to the wing. Sounds good on paper but in real life it's simply equally easy to push on the A risers while simply running forward AND being able to look up and check the wing. It seems paragliding is full of such fake fairy tales. Russ Ogden from Ozone deals with some of them (like the "don't look at the wing while flying, feel it all with the brake handles and risers" fairy tale). Yet another one is "flat turns in a thermal" (another one Russ and also Dennis Pagen tries to dispose of). There is also the pod harness fairy tale. I don't know why that is, it seems like this particular sport at least would be free of nonsense like this.
Hello TOBY could you to do a TUTO about Thermiques . I explain How to turn to go up ? i hope you undrestand I'M french and my english is not too good . Thank you so much TOBY
Hi, thank you for a really informative video. I recently went out in a tandem with my uncle whose been doing it for 40 years, and I've now fallen in love with paragliding and want to learn. I'm trying to figure out whether to learn at a BHPA registered school in the UK or abroad. I live in Plymouth & over an hour from the nearest school, so I considered looking at one abroad to save time and money. My only query is, how well do the nicer conditions at schools such as yours prepare you for flying in the UK, where as you say, the weather is so much windier and unpredictable???
well I was going to ask if you have to be a thin or slim person to do this sport but I seen a tandem flight so I reckon I am ok to proceed with the video 😊
So am I! I go dizzy every time I look over an ledge. But it's kinda funny, like it tickles. I have flown a few times and once you feel confident in the pull in the harness, the height is no longer height, it's like looking down on a toy town! Then any vertigo just adds to an adrenaline rush
Hi will there always be wind to enable one to fly?And how to scout for good landscapes or places ideal to do paragliding. Cud u share some examples please? Thank u
As you will learn on the course, you do not necessarily need wind to fly - too much wind is more of a problem for paragliders, the direction of the wind is crucial too, particularly for beginners. I would highly recommend this course.
I’m paralyzed and I’m learning now, trike and powered of course. I love it!!

I love to motor but one day I’ll glide a mountain.
Good stuff!
Thank you
Thank you!
I come from Indonesia Lumajang city no there is not learning like that i big wish i can that fly .oh i love that
I like it so much, and want to learn it.
Very interesting
Amazing
Dear mister Toby. I am your channel subskriber. Your videos are the best explanation off teqnice ever i seen. You are super professional and experienced master. Therefore I have one question: which wing to buy: Nova Prion5 or Davinci point?
so intense this vid i bought a 1k glider and tought myself from youtube was so easy
Great video ! I will definitely share this with people who are interested in starting to fly 😃
Are you still doing SIV in Oludeniz ?
Yes we are! www.passionparagliding.com/siv
BLOODY DANGEROUS
did he go on his first flight within the first week of learning? wow looks like so much fun!
I don't know why that is, it seems like this particular sport at least would be free of nonsense like this.
very nice . i am also intresting in paragliding ... When you visiting pakistan... ?
Would love to visit Pakistan! One day!
Where do you sign up for your booklet on the program? Sounds awesome. I used to skydive, but this looks like more fun.
Amazing I want learn paragliding love from 🇵🇰❤️

Hi there how are u ..... WoW its really amazing guys ... how can I get touched with u ..... I have few questions about paragliding.
So whatcha you’re saying. I can buy my own paraglide, and parachute equipment online. And do it myself 🧐🤔
Hi . gyz good video.i m enjoy this video .but my one question ?
what is the cost of one glider....
Looks awesome, but I noticed everyone in this video shared similar physical traits... Does being a large, broad, person, a hindrance paragliding?
i think a hanglider probably comes closer to feeling like a bird when you take body position into account
I really want to learn to paraglide but i am scared of hights :(
This is great but we came here to learn how to fly and this was one giant commercial for your school.
