Your a "Great" brother! Love the videos love your passion consider you a mentor of mine in painting! Started watching you 7 years ago and i learnt so much. I get annoyed when people troll someone who dedicated their life to painting. Keep your head up (i know you do) and only the truth matters. God bless your family and your channel.
I've always had problems with my doors sticking to the weather stripping but I waited 3 days for the wind to die down to spray my moms house out in the country and I went up and down my ladder spraying a wall and a gust came up and when I looked at my wall there were large insects all in the paint!
There is a product called liquid masking tape, that is excellent for glass. It is a little time consuming, but well worth the effort and is money saving. You should always tape everything off before sanding, then a hard brush and damp cloth for cleaning off dust.
Can you teach us to paint a rusted steel front door as my door is rusted. Thank you. This has been the best Economy as all the trades are working so, I want to learn some painting skills.
Also need to tape the corners of paper and additional tape on sides. One piece is not enough to keep it from blowing up. You are also to close to the garage, if their is any breeze it could get on that door.
As a painter, I was extremely mistaken in thanking that sprayig a door was so fast andsimple. I most have been doing too much or something wrong. In reality it takes a little time to mask, prep, and spray or paint.
@chris Im guessing you are also doing more at this house that included the cost of painting this door. But was wondering how much would you charge if someone just wanted you to paint a door like this one? Lots of prep work, plus sprayer prep and clean. 250.00?
You do great work. However, I prefer to not take off the front door and paint it by hand. I use Coronado Trim and Cabinet paint and it always leaves a smooth finish, even if brush and rolled
Removing masking tape while door is still wet is too risky....the risk is that you will touch the paint with your body or that removing the tape could be a problem?
@@Idahopainter another question - I'm spraying a room (Graco 360 variable speed) from top to bottom...I actually did the walls before the ceiling bc that's the only way I was able to tape off and get a clean line around the room...is there a better way besides going ceiling first then trying to tape off the ceiling?
I’ll agree with the paint point and I usually put on 2 coats too but that’s painting vertical. Painting laying down u can put more paint on without risk of runs. So maybe that’s why he did 1 coat.

Just like the good old days when you posted more exterior jobs. I love painting exteriors and being outside. Would love to see more exteriors shots.
More to come!
Around the class frame black paint would have look so awesome, very nice work!
Awesome video , what grit do you use for the light sanding
Thank you for making amazing and helpful videos ❤
If the paint had bridged when you peeled the tape off, how would you have touched it up for best results?

Do you always remove the door when painting and do you ever use a roller to paint instead of a sprayer?

Worthy of a Change Home Improvements. NC.
Instead of using an old duster brush I always use a leaf blower when appropriate
Or a vacuum

You should do 2 coats regardless of how it looks after 1 7:49
Not necessary
Thanks for the demo
You are welcome
I noticed the top of the door was not painted, if you were doing the interior as well, would you paint all 6 sides?
99% of time only visible area gets painted. Top and bottom are usually is mess of overspray.
No
I do a lot of historical rooftops and historical work. Do you have any tips and tricks for making it easier to work when you’re 30 40 feet up?
Don't look down
I use a boom
👍nice work
Thanks
You took weather strips off curious why you did not spray it while it was in place? Thank you!
One coat in done when down

In another video he paints the garage door.

$550
@@Idahopainter right on. After I wrote 250 I realized that was probably a bit low. 😊 Ty sir
liquid masking is great for small window glass
Good tip
The color almost looks like Honolulu blue, ie. Lions (second playoff game tomorrow '24). Haha. God bless!
And they lost
@@Idahopainter Maybe, next year. All teams loose except one!
I always wondered: is there a specific reason to sand with a square sander instead of an orbital sander for large surfaces?
a square sander is more for light sanding for finishing and the round is for deep to light sanding
pretty sure the sander he is using is a random orbit sander. its just square so you can get into places you cant with a round one.
It costs $600 @@braindrain329
Preference. Square is more versatile.

Mate you forget to paint the edge facing to the exterior ??
Nope
Why only paint the face and not the sides?
Personal preference

High end paints give high end results so he shoots behr paint with an extension and only one coat of paint...
OK
@@Idahopainter I guess we disagree that behr is high quality and spraying with an extension gives the best finish. 👌
Behr is the only paint we use on our house and love it
