What this video didn't show was a close up of the final process. It would be nice to see if brush marks were visible after it dried? I have painted my door with four coats using a soft foam roller, and it still leaves streaks and overlap. Possibly the paint drying process is too fast and this might be the cause of a patchy paint job. All I know is that painting a steel door is not as simple as this video may indicate.
Wow. He is using Sherwin Williams (Color To Go) sample paint. Which technically is needs to be topcoated by actual paint itself. It says on the can itself.
Was this a fiberglass or steel door? Was the white color there because the door was new or was that a primer coat? I have a fiberglass door with 10-yr. old sun-bleached gel stain fading so do I have to strip the old stain or can I wash it as directed and paint over it? Are you using oil based or water based paint?
This young man has very gentle hands. He could be a heart surgeon or something like that. He can paint my toenails super nice. Then he can paint my mullions anytime. : )
This is how it is done by a professional folks. Slow, deliberate, calculating and thorough. He just didn't slop it on and spread it out in a hurried manner.
I've done a lot of painting, but this guy is no pro. He acts as if the door will be on display in the Louvre! Also, I think most people would paint the door while it's hanging on the house.
Foam roller. I would suggest practicing with it first as it is sort of slippery loaded with paint but soon smooths out. A 4-6" foam roller gives a great bristle free finish.
Have it sprayed in oil based paint if you want it to be its best you can definitely roll it foam roller but like the other person said play with it first or you will leave lines all over it. On doors better to have pro apply the finish. If you want it to look its best. In my opinon.
What they were using is a Sherwin-Williams Color To Go......not something I would recommend for a final coat on an interior or exterior door. Try something like the fairly new Sherwin-Williams SnapDry or Solo!
Ronda, the plastic part that contains the glass must be primed first using a primer that can be used for plastic. When painting doors like this for my customers, I mask the area first around the plastic window frame and then use Rust-Oleum spray primer to paint the plastic before applying paint.
The door looked best at 2:17 with just the trim and inserts painted, everything after that just removed all the pop that the door had and made it look bland.
I would have sprayed it. And i Would have 10 doors done to his one and it would look 10x better. DONT paint your front door with a brush unless you use oil base paint.

Add Floetrol to the paint; it allows acrylic ants to level better.
Yeah about to say you need an additive like Floetrol to cut the paint and reduce marks

no sanding or primer? and it's metal?
It might be a fiberglass door, I have that exact style (Craftsman) in fiberglass.
They come primed
Nice job dude

Yep, that’s how the cowboys do it . . . ‘slow and calculating ‘ hate to be paying him by the hour ! !
😅

Wrong. Professionals stand the doors up, use airless sprayers and are done in minutes. No worry about brush strokes etc.
roller?

roll then backbrush while wet following the direction of the stiles.

Would have left the window trim white.
So true
I'll be doing mine soon.... Window trim is gonna be white
What type of paint?
Phuck Ewe at 1:23 she tells the type of paint to use.

The end result didn't look good. It was darker in the middle rails and the lines showed. I don't understand why he did that.
Do you need to put polyethylene on top
Kal mrng ooiiomkk*iiiilkooy😊

No. A good exterior paint is it’s own sealer. Besides, exterior spar urathene is oil based and will change the color.

Yes I want my window panes a different color

WHAT KIND OF PAINT ?????

What about the interior part of the metal front door? Oil again?
Wearing gloves and using blue tape - THAT'S A PRO!
Why would I feel much more confident spraying this door?
use spray paint its better
Prep and paint type are what l needed, not watching him paint
Spray it
An Eternity later.........*Stills needs another coat*....*preferably not a To-Go sample quart next time*
if i eve saw one of my guys paint a door like this he would be gone.
way too slow process
Then your business is sloppy
No pride in your work I take it
@@owl4 its how we work in the Boston area,
@@softmetals3702 not sure of your painting skills, but i do order the clam chowda from there though..all the way to western new york.
Too late here to warn you, this guy is a joke. It’s almost as bad as watching paint dry ! !
👎🏻 poor video. I want to see the finished product and so many questions. 😂
Sucked!
Terrible video
Go watch This Old House. It explains the type of paint you should use and step by step technique.
