Great sharing Gunman. I watched your videos years ago and you gave me enough knowledge and confidence to complete an open door respray on my BA XR8 Ford in Rapid Yellow. I am now watching your progress with this Torana you have. Best wishes Jason from Melbourne Victoria.
Top man. I'm just coming to the end of a 6 year restoration of my Mk1 Golf. 100% on the order you've painted the panels- my fresh doors suffered the exact fate yours did!..I learnt the hard way 😂 Greetings from Derby, UK
Really enjoying the basics of this series, great budget conscience, with technical information thrown in,can’t wait to see it finished, keep up the excellent work.
It's getting to the exciting bit for you now. Looking lovely with shiny bits and stuff. Thanks for sharing mate. I like my old cars to look old ,allover myself, just like the engine bay in yours. As you say ,other people can do what they want. This is what I'm doing.😆
Hey mate, if you haven't made the door trims yet i'd advise against putting the tweeters there. You want the tweeters far away from the ears so it blends well with the mids. Either in the dash or on the far top of the door trim near the mirrors is better. Where you're putting them you'll hear the highs separate from the mids and it won't sound good.
I appreciate the idea of ‘less than showroom’ engine bays but I still like to get picky and geek out on stuff. But like you said- you do you! I’m enjoying the series.
Hey gunman, I am doing my car the same way by edging all inner panels and doors and mounting all panels on the car then doing the outside in one hit. I really would appreciate it if you show us the back masking and taping in detail.
You might need an unlock method from inside the cabin to pass RWC, I did something similar on my Gemini years ago, ended up adding in a unlock button from a VL commodore and cut/bent the original locking bar so it fit, then built it into some custom door skins. The VL is good because its a really simple mount, just a single hole and you can easily mount it
looking good gunny the handbrake warning light is also conected to the block in the engine bay where the brake pipes conect there should be a pressure switch on it they need to be reset if you have bled the brakes simply un screw it till you feel or hear a click and re tighten it should fix your warning light issue
Hell yea brother 🤘 they say the last 10% takes 90% of the time lol. For the earth on lights use the spiked washes they use from factory, n sparkies use them, bites into metal with out grinding paint off. 👊
Nice build. With the park brake lamp problem. When the park brake is on the switch should short the lamp to earth. However as the lamp is on all the time, there must be a short already in the park brake wire going to earth, this is also why it sparks when you connect the wire to positive. It might be easier to run a new wire from the dash to the new switch, than to try and find the short.
Many, many years ago I did a velour interior on a HR and used 'Spotlight' material. It ended up stretching and sagging. Then I went to a car upholsterer and they had a foam-backed velour which kept its shape and hadn't sagged after 10 years. It might pay you to look around before you buy the interior material.
Hey Gunny, C & G Auto Upholstry will be able to help with your hood lining if you want to do it yourself. They are members of the GMH Torana forum and can probably help with some install tips…from what I have seen, a few dozen bits of old pinch weld help tension it around doors and windows…and it’s a patience job for us players at home.
Oh man now I have to do the central locking mod, thanks Gunny It's exciting and yet seems so slow doing all the fiddly interior bits but your getting closer now!
Hey Gunny this was far from being boring mate so for me I could watch an hour long update and I would still be there at the end, the Torana is looking really good now the door jams are done and looking nice👌 Keep gong Gunny, looking forward to the next one🙏👍John UK
Looking good, from my experience with old cars you can mask up door to guard gap by getting in from under guard if you leave the splash panel out easy done, keep up the good work
It's getting pretty close! , after panel alignment , that would be ready enough for the external paint 👍 . Advice on the window rubbers: leave it until it's painted to seal them up! Much easier to mask .
Hi Gunny, good to see the bits and bobs. I never would have thought to remove some lock spring tension off the doors. If you're getting a low voltage at the locking solenoids, then the cable must be too thin to the doors and not handling the current. Make sure the cable doesn't get hot. Would be a bad day if the wires caught on fire because the system was stuck in a keep locking or un locking position. At least cycle it heaps of times and check if the cables to the doors are getting warm. 3 volts is a huge voltage drop from 12 volts mate. Please let me know how you went.
Gunny, if you're doing gluing of fabric please use something like or exactly DAP Weldwood Landau Top and trim. It's the only glue you can count on to not lose hold in heat. 3m all that can shit does not cut it. Itll look great ad stick at first and then shit bed on you when you need it most. Plus right up your alley, you spray it with 1.8 or 2.2 or whatever larger tip out of a siphon feed gun. At least that's how I do it and i ain't no gunman. Brush on too. Any method but it is spray grade. Probably other glues (contact cements) out there are also good but jeez Louise the dap I suggest above precisely is fantastic. Anyone who has used it will probably say the same. Get a cheap siphon gun the 20 usd special at harbor freight here in USA works good. I doubt you can effectively clean that snot out. In the Metal 1 liter siphon guns the glue stays runny for at last a few days (weeks) but eventually will gel up and I'd just junk that gun sadly after that. Avoid that canned spray glue unless you know it's gonna last years and hot and cold.
The brake light problem could be that it's to do with low brake fluid or pads low warning light all running inline with the hand brake switch. Sometimes the warning light tells you more than it first appears on brake issues
Hey Gunny great to see progress. If you’re doing a job like this and want to keep the front and rear glass in the car what do you do to get a good finish around the rubbers?
Hi Gunny, I’m looking for a panel beater to do about 5 hours work at my house in Taylors Lakes Melbourne, I’m willing to pay cash for the work. Would your mate be willing to pull a dint in a quarter and pull some damage out of two sill panels for some cash. Thanks Corey.
Looking good Gunman…. Can’t wait to see it done…. Also better start planning new project buddy😉😉😉😉😉 You gunna paint underside of the bonnet body colour?

Was about to say the same thing. Solid advice.
I'll have to find a better spot then, it was mainly because there was a nice hole there I could fit it in.
@@TheGunmanChannel You'll appreciate the difference in sound quality by moving them. Good sound is good.
Put ‘em on the kick panels and angle them towards the middle of the front seats
Well done ! Good on you and thanks for all the painting ideas n great tips . Cheers .
Really really glad to you this far along with the car Gunny. Great job
Great work Gunny, progressing nicely. Looking forward to more updates.

✌️ Peace.
Try soaking bolts and screws in Apple cider vinegar for a day or two to remove rust. Keep up the great vids. Looking forward to the full paint job.
What a car, looking amazing
Handbrake light is also connected to the level sensor in the brake master reservoir, but might not due to the car age but I assume it does have one.

Coming along great Gunny!
Hey Gunny great to see progress. If you’re doing a job like this and want to keep the front and rear glass in the car what do you do to get a good finish around the rubbers?
They're pretty easy to slip some rope under, just clean it up with some thinners and rope it 💪
Even NRMA used the old packing case tape.method.

What tape did you use to stop you from getting hard edges when painting the door jams ?
Looking good Gunman…. Can’t wait to see it done…. Also better start planning new project buddy😉😉😉😉😉
You gunna paint underside of the bonnet body colour?
I'm leaving the inside of the bonnet black, I think I'll need a big break after this project.
Bet you cannot wait to sand it back, (high fill primer?), paint and clear coat it. It's going to be a gorgeous car when complete.
Coming along great. Doing a roof lining is relatively not that hard, you'de be surprised.
Choice colour 👍
👍👍 Super robota 🤚 🇵🇱
put the tweeter up on the dash mate, if you put the tweeter there it wont sound good
Probably a good point
Don’t put the tweeters at back of door Bud, need to go forward.
Thanks, a few others have warned against it also, so I bought some tweeter pods.
