100% Agreed. When I was a student I had the insane idea to quit my urban european life and go to the Russian wilderness. And I did it, I started farming with 500 Dollars in my pocket and I had to realize that dreams and reality are quite different things. But I endured and am still farming.

Would it be possible to grow your own food there do you think? Any recommendations on where to buy land in that area? What's the best way to go about finding land there I your opinion? The BC coastline has a mild oceanic climate, definitely possible to grow your own food. Some people in the mildest parts (Saltspring island etc) can even grow citrus fruits.

Your face when you couldn't charge your phone so sad, goto ebay or amazon and type in mobile power bank :) I have one I get about 4 full recharges of my phone from it and they only cost like 20 bucks I had the same problem when I went and camped on my land when I first bought it
Go to a Radio Shack or battery store. Ask for a 12 volt charger for your phone and 12 volt plug in receptacle for a battery that has a usb terminal on one end, Connect the receptacle leads to the battery with red to positive ( + ). and the other wire to the negative (-) on the battery. Plug the male of the usb plug plug into the receptacle that you wired to the battery. You should be able to charge your phone. Or stop at a phone store and buy a car charger for a cell phone.. the clerks will know what I am talking about. Shouldn’t be more than about 20.00. I’ll bet you or one of your friends have a 12 volt car they aren’t using. Good luck and God bless in your journey. JoeB

you need a voltage regulator like your car charger or an inverter
the battery is direct current, while your charger uses alternating current. wont work.
