    Water snakes are great! I dont mind them! But i live in an area with venomous Water Moccasins! What should i do when such dangerous vipers love water and could easily make a home of my dream pool? Its not rare at all for me to find them chilling in my back yard!

      yeah, keeping snakes away from your natural pool involves creating an environment that is less attractive to them and implementing physical barriers. Here are some strategies to help keep snakes away:
      1. Maintain the Surrounding Area: Keep the area around your pool clear of debris, tall grass, and thick vegetation where snakes might hide. Regularly trim bushes and mow the lawn to reduce cover for snakes.

      2. Remove Food Sources: Snakes are attracted to areas with abundant food sources, such as rodents and insects. Keep the pool area clean and free of food scraps. Consider using natural repellents or traps to manage rodent populations.

      3. Install Physical Barriers: Erecting a fine mesh fence or snake-proof fencing around the pool can prevent snakes from entering. Ensure the fence is buried a few inches into the ground to stop snakes from burrowing underneath.

      4. Use Natural Repellents: Certain plants, such as marigolds and lemongrass, are known to repel snakes. Planting these around your pool can help deter snakes. Additionally, you can use natural snake repellents like sulfur, clove oil, or cinnamon oil around the pool area.

      5. Keep Water Clean: Ensure your natural pool is well-maintained, with clear water and minimal algae growth. Snakes may be less attracted to clean, well-managed environments.

      6. Limit Access Points: Check for and seal any gaps or holes around the pool area that snakes might use to enter. Regularly inspect the perimeter for potential entry points.

      7. Install Pool Covers: Using a pool cover when the pool is not in use can help prevent snakes from entering the water.

      Hope that helps!

    Wow! These videos are awesome. Thank you! I wanted to know how freeze/thaw cycles affect these pools. Here in the northeast united states people drain or heat their pools for the winter. Will these aquatic plants regenerate or is there a huga mount of maintinence to bring everything back in the spring?

    • @leafandstone.naturalpools
      @leafandstone.naturalpools  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the plants will regenerate it is just the physical effects on plumbing and structures that one has to cater for with freeze/thaw cycles as you would with a conventional pool.

      @yehudagoldberg6400 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've never heard of draining in-ground pools for the winter. Usually, the lines are blown-out so they dont freeze. Leaving a pool drained for any extended period of time will cause it to fail.

    I know folks in Australia and New Zealand have done these before, but those regions break rule 1 (keep temps below 27C). Is the solution in those regions to add a UV filter? I live in Florida in the US and we have hot and humid temps year round (basically 8 months a year above 27C easily)

    • @leafandstone.naturalpools
      @leafandstone.naturalpools  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It is just the water temp that needs to stay under 27C. This can be challenging in Florida but it is possible, with shade, fountains and UV lamps.

    • @DrWarBear
      @DrWarBear 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@leafandstone.naturalpools ahh ok, thank you for clarifying! Still will be parts of the year it gets above that temp but if it’s just water temp that’s doable! ☺️

    I live in tropic (30+ average year round), how can I make natural swimming pool safe from all the worms, flukes, parasites, that can come from birds, frogs, and snails?

    • @leafandstone.naturalpools
      @leafandstone.naturalpools  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      out of curiosity, do you swim in any dams or lakes or rivers there? Aside from keeping the water cool and under 27C, My advice would be to separate the swim zone with a divide and then use UV filters and bead filters to keep the swim zone spotless and sterile.

      Hello, I live in the tropics (Miami Florida ) as well and I’m considering getting a natural swimming pool. I don’t swim in the freshwater here so no experience with that. How can I have a safe natural swimming pool here? I have an existing chemical pool and want to convert it. Where can I find out more about natural swimming pools in the tropics?

  • @tainomezclao
    @tainomezclao หลายเดือนก่อน

    So that means in the tropics we shouldn't have Natural pools because of the hot sun?

    • @leafandstone.naturalpools
      @leafandstone.naturalpools  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Natural Pools are possible in very hot (dry and tropical) climates but one has to take measure to keep the water temperature down. This would include erecting shade over the pool, expanding the wetland size to occupy 50% of the total surface area as well as adding extra aeration to the pool to cool the water down. It's also crucial to understand the risks of parasites in tropical natural pools. To safe guard against these risks a UV steriliser is a requirement. Additionally, biweekly treatments with 30% Hydrogen Peroxide can virtually eliminate any risk, as it destroys parasites while oxygenating the water. Though some beneficial microorganisms may be lost, most will remain in the wetland area.
