- Sony recently launched its latest midrange phone: the Xperia 10 VI. Why anyone should get this phone over other midrange such as Galaxy A55, A35, or Pixel 8a? The Xperia 10 Mark 6 is not going to win any spec awards but it has some unique features that make it appealing to anyone who is looking for a compact smartphone with a price tag under 500$.

60Hz instead of 120Hz means longer battery. It just does.
Headphone Jack . Check
Sensible size. Check
Memory Card support. Check.
No Bloatware. Big check.
Sony know who they are selling this to.
agreed, i have the 5ii and i always used 60hz. i only used the 120 hz when doing pokemon go pvp so its kinda a useless feature to have more hz.
Agreed, I've ordered the 10vi for battery life, SD card,3.5mm headphone socket. And love FPS on the side.
You forgot about really important thing. If you have sony headphones you get better quality with dsee extreme
I bought it because of the headphone jack and microSD card slot.
But the main reason is because of Hi-Res Certified audio, paired with a DAC/Amp 4.4 mm, I can run my focal Celestee and Fiio FX15 IEMs with really good sound, "offline files" FLAC/Wav or m4a.
It basically becomes a DAP "Digital Audio Player"
Sony Xperia 10 VI 499$
Cayin RU7 DAC Amp 479$
Fiio FX15 IEMs 945$
Focal Celestee 1295$
European price.
I go for the 10 model because of the price and it's only for music, I use another phone for everything else.
The slower chip and screen, makes the player "phone" run longer.
This way my phone or dap is better and cheaper than most High End DAPs in the 2000$ region.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's definitely a phone for audiophiles.
After moving from Galaxy A52s to Xperia 10 IV due to horrendous battery life, I would go for a Sony. There is too much of "inventing bicycle again" in Samsung software. Phone ends up having 2 apps of the same function in many cases and dual store system causes confusions. Takes a lot of time to remove duplicate apps etc before can actually use the device.
I actually switched from a A52s to a Xperia 10 V too, after OneUI 6.1 made the user experience horrendous + with my A52s slowly dying. And I can't complain honestly. It has great battery life, it uses stock Android, it runs smooth most of the time and the Camera makes decent photos. Plus, it still has a SD Card option and a headphone jack! While it is debatable if you need it or not, it's still a nice feature, if your headphones are charging but u still want to listen to some music rn
21:9 is such a practical aspect ratio. One-handed typing and the best to hold your phone when you're on the move.
Prices of Sony phones are not good though. Especially considering their market share.
Hey, another Sony Xperia 10 V user here, I only use TH-cam ReVanced - no lags there, overall performance is smooth for 2 months now, before it was rather bad.
Side sense splitscreen is also the best in the market. and with using the pop up screen you can literally use 3 screens. best for multitasking i think.
And that notchless display.
Sony phones feel like they are made from 5-10 years ago because of their designs and i love it that way it has a headphone jack and no weird black circle thing on the screen or the weird iPhone notch looking thingy
I am looking forward to the Xperia 5 VI ❤🎉
I got the 10vi just for €240,- with a contract instead of €399,- with a headphone.
I have the same issue with TH-cam and while it is very annoying i'm still glad i got this to replace my nothing phone 2.
Everything else works perfect and the battery life is amazing.
I also have the 10v and with that one there were no problems with youtube so I'm assuming the TH-cam problem will be fixed with the first update.
Edit
It seems like the TH-cam problem got fixed
Why? No ugly stupid axx hole and cut out rounded corner display. Simple as that. What ever ur alternative are all having inferior display by design(pixel, samsung or whatever)
And they also have speakers pointing to your hands when you hold the phone horizontally to watch a video, instead of forward, which is stupid. But hey they are bezel-less so who cares, right? 🙃
Its 300 dude
If you want the flagship, it's 1,300
Just ordered it - as an audiophile this is the best phone available. All the other features are good enough, and especially, the smaller screen. I totally love it.
Hi, I read that Xperia 10 V camera shutter can only go down to 1s, can you check if Xperia 10 VI can do lower min shutter speed with manual shutter speed option? i.e. can it go slower than 1s? can it do long exposure like 5s or 10s? I know this is not a mid-range use case, but I want to know if it can do this for maybe capturing the occasional night sky. Thanks.
Also currently own Samsung A73, wondering if Xperia 10 VI will be too much of a downgrade mainly Camera (A73 camera 108MP binned down can do up to 10s exposure in manual mode). Main reason for considering Xperia is the smaller size and SD card.
I'm a Xperia 10 V User and regarding to the YT Bug, I can say that it doesn't happen for me most of the time, but it still happens. But it's more rather a issue on Googles Side, since I have the same issue on my previous Galaxy A52s
I'm pretty sure 10 VI TH-cam lags are the software bug. I got my 10 VI on June 7 and I found out that TH-cam sometimes becomes unresponsive. I got a replacement from Sony in yesterday because I found a problem with the power button. The second device has the same TH-cam lag problem as the first device.
Try revanced yt
I have that youtube bug on my S23 Ultra sometimes
This one or Pixel 8a?
Can you please reply and tell if the latest S24 Exynos updates has made anything better which you criticized before like network issues, grainy display at low brightness settings, heating and so on? Hope you will reply soon as I need to decide fast whether to buy it at a disount or not. Thanks! 👍
Heating yes, the other two are hardware issues and cannot be fixed with software updates but it depends son your unit.
@@techmo2020 Regarding heating and network issues, would you still recommend here in Europe getting the S23 over the S24? I actually can get the S24 cheaper and like the flat sides. Even with latest updates, wich S24 connection issue(s) can make it unusable at certain times?
@@techmo2020 Forgot to ask, but does the regular S24 also suffer from "grainy" or "sandy" display issues when you set brightness very low or is this only with the Ultra?
Please review Xiaomi 14 and Zenfone 10. and PWM comparisons because Xiaomi claims they have hardware DC(if toggled) dimming meaning no PWM. Please test this
I think the 10 v lasts longer in battery compared to vi
Waiting for the next pro called xperia Pro-C
Sony Xperia Ist Qualität man kann sehr sehr lange Zeit glücklich sein
60 fps in PUBGM?
wow its sony brand sir
Mo, you magnificent HAIRY beast! Love your vids! Ja, ja, das ist sehr gut!
Good
Hey, a Sony Xperia 10V user here, i don`t experience the youtube bug but overall performance is really bad.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
As someone thinking of trying this phone out, could you elaborate a bit further?
Is it a slow phone?
@@jon-eg6beits slow but decent enough and battery beats everyone
@@SriSri-fo2jesee above
Thanks TechMO
There is so much bias against sony these days. You can see in every sony xperia 10 review video, they always keep mentioning alternatives. Whereas in other phone's reviews, they don't.
Because it's especially bad, it's extremely overpriced. Other phones are always at least somewhat valid
@@eisregenhaha Tell me one review of other phone where they mention Xperia 10 VI having better battery. They don't, even though it has a better battery.
Or better yet, tell me one review of the iPhone where they complain about the screen being 60Hz and recommending a Samsung as a result.
I'll wait
@@diegocabrejas6059 i wont do any of that lmfao, the 10vi is a 500$ phone witj a 6g1, 60hz and no great software. at least the iphone has a good chip and software experience, sony has neither
@@eisregenhaha you say it is overpriced. But I have had my Xperia 10iii for 3 years, still going as new. These phones are well built. You know what was overpriced? My previous pixel a which broke after only one year of use and the battery life was crap. Oh but people don't care because it has a 120Hz screen... So amazing..
@@diegocabrejas6059 yup. i also wouldnt care cuz 120hz is needed. every phone will last unless u got a faulty unit or treat it badly. i also have an xperia 5V and a pixel at my posession, both still living. 10Vi is still insanely overpriced
Still crap then, time to say goodbye to Sony once my XZs dies. After XZ1/S their phones became 💩 in my opinion. They dont listen to loyal customers at all. Stupid size phones, some with no dual speakers and no notification LED, a lot of the time camera quality is no better. Old IMX400 is amazing for its time. Only missing another lense with deeper focal length is all. Otherwise would beat many modern devices. Perhaps I will just refurbish my XZs and buy a seperate digital camera.
someone tell sony that there are midrange processers made after 1993...
It has the last Snapdragon 6
@@blami8 yes the one made for 150 usd phones
@@3mar00ss6 They use more like Snapdragon 4 or maybe 5
@@blami8 nah look at poco...
@@3mar00ss6 Poco IS the exception I had the two first ones who were true flagship killers, it's their brand to break the price
a 400€ l phone with a very weak camera it's a shame for Sony to launch a phone in 2024 with a horrible camera
I do comparison sometimes with friends, I have old XZs and in some cases, mean regular shots without zoom, XZs can produce better photos 😂
21:9
6" is too small .
this phone should not exist
6" is plenty for people with good eyes. If want big screen use laptop, tablet or TV screen.
the worst of the worst phone...n u r really trying hard to show it better but failed miserably
No offence ugliest phone ever seen 😂 .
