I thought...the first time I heard this on 1899 it was a Japanese song...must be sang or coming from the gramophone of the Japanese lady Ling Yi....but then...my ears settled on the lyrics and it sounded like french but then today seeing that the song is of German descent...it's very charming to hear and yeah...eerily charming

If only Bavarians and Austrians were aware of that. Most still believe Standard German is from North Germany just because the accent for speaking the writing language was coined there.
