  • I hope you find my videos helpful, and perhaps they saved you money and headaches. You can return the favor and the balance in the universe through Buy me a coffee, which is a simple uncomplicated way to donate as low as 2$ to keep this channel as much ad-free as TH-cam allows.
I understand that YT adds a few ads, on which YT collects ALL royalties (I get none.) Yet, were I to monetize the channel, the number of ads would sky-rocket and would be very disruptive to your viewing experience.
To keep my videos as ad-free as possible, I welcome your kind support through Buy me a coffee.
I spend a considerable amount of my time (and resources) to run this channel. As I have NO SPONSORS, get NO KICK-BACKS, nor deals of any kind with any manufacturer, your kind support goes a very long way to help me to keep this channel going!

I appreciate every kind gesture. Also, through Buy me a coffee you can message me, and I prioritize the Buy me a coffee messages.
    Greetings, János

Thanks for these VP videos! I’m excited to hear how my Voigt pipes are going to sound. About another week, (I hope), to completion.

Thankyou Janos for taking the time to answer my query in such an interesting and thorough manner: I’m truly honoured that you made a video specially for me! I think it’s an excellent point about liking the Mark Audio “sound” and that using a similar but larger driver as the basis for the Voigt Pipe build is best.
I am tempted to experiment with a curved back, but first of all I will instead follow your advice and make the simpler standard model: I’m retiring from work soon, so I will have plenty of time to fill for experiments! I am researching the design methods for violin, double bass and similar musical instruments, and how those contribute to the musicality of the final instrument - fascinating stuff, I may bring some of that learning to my experimental Voigt Pipes!
Similar to your observations about how Voigt Pipe speakers “disappear”, I have found the same to be true for the frugal horns I built. I have more “traditional” 2-way speakers too, and although the sound is very different, the most notable thing is how much larger the sound stage is with the frugal horns and if closing one’s eyes of course one knows the speakers are there but the sound seems to come from elsewhere. I have measured the frugal horns, and in my small room they achieve a clear and musical 40Hz, amazing for such a small driver.

Creating the suggested cabinet as your initial project is to lay the foundations. By doing so, you can immerse yourself in its sound, gain familiarity with it, and gradually develop and enhance your concepts for your dream cabinets. This process will provide you with a strong foundation to embark on your journey. Have fun! I'm so glad that you will have time to play around with new concepts ; )

Hi Janos, what are your thoughts about establishing the width of the front-panel for a Voigt pipe?

For the 8-10in drivers, go as narrow as the drivers are. Going wider decreases the pipe efficiency.

Janos, considering your comment on the front panel radiation I wonder whether it could be enhanced by using 12mm plywood as La Grande?

I’ve been watching some Oswalds Mill Audio TH-cams where Jonathan Weiss has discussed the different between curved verses straight geometry horns, where he claims the latter avoids the “shouty” sound characteristic typical in most horns. I wonder if this same principle applies to the horn-like structure of the Voigt Pipe with a curved verses straight back.

I wonder considering the pipe is only doing it's job on the low end won't using a great woofer like purifi 10" & then using closed back dome tweeter & mid like from bliesma 3" dome mid & 25mm Tweeter right above woofer will be better(ofc considering the xo is done properly) than any full range driver?
