Hey folks, don't get confused ONDC is NOT an app. It's a set of specifications which would enable interpretability of numerous applications wanting to link with ONDC. The UPI example is the closest. UPI is not an app. But BHIM, Gpay etc applications utilize upi to work together.
The brilliant part is ONDC is not an app but a network underlying various popular apps like PayTM, Dunzo etc. Just like UPI is not an app but the underlying infrastrucure for other popular payment apps! It is an extremely brilliant architecture by Nandan Nilekani and theres no equivalent in the world👏
Completely wrong information. ONDC is not a platform, its a standard. What ecosystem does with it is still to be seen. Don't simplify it to say it is like trivago.
As far as I can understand, let's take cabs for an example. By browsing the ONDC, anyone can see all the offers listed available for your route by Ola/Uber or some random cab guy... of course random dude will be way cheaper as you'd be avoiding overhead costs.... it raises serious concerns about safety. Even Ola/Uber is not 100% safe.. forget some random guy from the ONDC. Apart from that, it has great potential to undermine all capitalistic digital businesses
This video is broadcast in the interest of kirana stores --the ones that have looted customers until Amazon came into picture. I remember us purchasing most items on MRP. Even 5% discount made customers feel rich. Ondc is bound to fail for the lack of professionalism on the part of kirana owners and shitty customer support (think bsnl or sbi help line).
With due respect, I do not agree with you. You may be something right from the customer point of view but if think with a long-term approach, you will realize how this E-Commerce power is centralized to big markets places like Amazon and Flipkart. And if this centralization will be continued then the whole retail chain will be eliminated and these Kirana store owners and workers will be unemployed. So centralization of power is really bad, that's why ONDC is coming into place.
Lol. U r just throwing out speculations. U don't even know what will happen and just saying it will fail and what not. I believe probably many like u or maybe u too said same before UPI and now stopped criticizing it.
Only time will confirm if ONDC will succeed to plan. Also lets not forget, the so called "discount" on the big eCommerce platforms are FUNDED by investors seeking sticky long tail revenue with CLTV!!
Imagine where would we be if congress implemented these things since the advent of technology but I guess they were busy outsources India's money to Italy XD
Well it is one thing to do UPI or payment processing where thes eis no delivery , no customer support or ogistics. it is aanother to do e-commerce. need to see hwo it plays out
It will be full of bugs and offer pathetic user experience. Google, Flipkart and Amazon invest heavily on their platform. Will exchequer pay for all this??
how do you know it will be full of bugs? have you seen indian govt. new websites or apps, TCS is working on such projects, don't bullshit here without proper research Such heavily funded amazon has a pathetic UI Google se compare kaise kar sakta h koi? kya chutiye log h
@@shivam_nagar69 Shouting like an idiot doesn't make you right. Have you used income tax portal? Indian railways ticket booking? Any nationalized bank's website? Google is compared because this is going to compete with the likes of Google, Flipkart and Amazon.

Till the time Flipkart and Amazon doesn't signup for this, it's a garbage, plus sharing your expenditures with Govt, God knows how safe will that be. for me it's a bigtime NO No. Better pay a little extra, even if thats the case.

I think before trying to explain it to people you should try to properly understand it yourself. This panel should be led by journalists with a technical background. I am more confused than informed after watching this video.
stupid...it is providing platform to all even for small traders... like JIO, amazon all have their own platform and monopolize market...like road highway where anyone can travel instead building own road network for their own need. ......why you people are so un educated
They may not be able to do so easily but some could gain depending on variety, logistics and other factors. This won't make kiranas the next Amazon, but it will force all of the companies to compete amongst each other and loose marketshare. There are commissions on the products sold , and on the ONDC platform there should be no such charges which could make items cheaper as seller doesn't need to account for that. Amazon and Flipkart are in the lens of the government as they claim marketplace but their platform is dominated by few huge sellers, which the govt could crackdown on. Overall it's too early to tell what will happen, it's a good incentive for India and will also lead to a nascent ecosystem around the platform. One place where this could impact quickly would be food delivery, food could be generally cheaper on ONDC but the Zomato/swiggy could give more offers for 1+1,etc.

Calling ONDC an application is like calling a car a brick solely because both are physical objects. ONDC is an e-commerce standard.
U r so funny bro
Absolutely! It is a technology like UPI, independent of the platform it exists on. Some people are mistaking it for the platform itself.

Better give pricing control to users which they will never do..
