The ad could have worked if the car was actually high end, but in typical french brand fashion, the Laguna was not a high end car, only a mid range car (yet it was stil the highest end Renault made at the time) so the ad became an absolute meme in france at the time, as people found this ad to be extremely stupid, as there was a lot of hihger end cars on the market, especially coming from german brands. The thing with french language... is that we use same words or simillar words, for many things. As an adult i sometimes discover new senses of the language or even wonder how the hell is it even possible to have that understanding of a cruptic language. But if you say to someone "you're mean !" the translation would be "tu es méchant !". We just ended up using that word to say "villain" or "bad guy" because, well... The great strength of "Les Inconnus" (yes, "The Unknowns", you've got it - they're French) is they perfectly reproduced the atmosphere of the shows they caricatured with a lot of humor and realism (here, the sensationalist, voyeuristic, and therefore very tabloid side of the show) and the art of dressing up, imitate the voices, the gimmicks, the accents, and thus creating very realistic characters while playing all the dedicated roles. From time to time, they assigned this second role(s) to guest stars. Here again, it's quite trashy on the dialogue side, but so well seen and funny. Peace, folks. ☮👈😎

@@koolio4997 tu oublies de préciser que dans la définition il est bien spécifié que c'est un terme utilisé surtout auprès des enfants. Le but ici est d'être cohérent, au plus proche de la réalité pour aiguiller quelqu'un qui découvre la langue. Tu ne verras jamais un panneau "chien vilain".
@@criliv6602 Oui vilain c'est plutôt enfantin ou une version mignonne de dire à quelqu'un de proche qu'il a été méchant sans trop de gravité. Mais tu avais faux en disant qu'il y avait qu'un seul sens et que c'était tiré des américains. En français la définition de vilain est bien aussi méchant, et on dit bien vilain dans les films de super héros ou dessins animés car ces films là sont avant tout pour les enfants, grands méchants, super vilain etc...

C'est difficile car "Vilain" en français a plusieurs sens. "Quelqu'un de vilain" veut dire qu'il est laid/moche OU méchant/malhonnête.
On dit souvent "un vilain méchant" pour les vilains dans les films. Ou pour dire à un enfant qu'il a fait des choses méchantes, on dit plutôt que c'est un vilain garçon. Pour dire par exemple qu'une femme est moche/laide, on dit "elle est vilaine celle là".
Le mot "méchant" englobe tout ce qui touche à la méchanceté : Qui fait délibérément du mal ou cherche à en faire. Cruel, malveillant, mauvais etc."
