Helen Reddy singing Delta Dawn on the Midnight Special 1976.
Whoever the pianist is on Helen's recording, he did a great job.
I grew up listening to miss Helen. Reminds me of family n good times.
This song's writer, Larry Collins, passed away on January 5th, 2024
If you never heard his amazing guitar work and vocals as one half of The Collins Kids with his late sister, Lorrie, it is a great way to pay tribute to a talented musician.
RIP, Larry.
Great Song 👏🙏🏾 Helen Reddy!
I think Reddy's facial expressions make this song 10x better when she sings it. Especially in the beginning.
Yes yes!
I just discovered that the voice I heard singing this song on the radio throughout my childhood was not Tanya Tucker’s.
Nobody sings this song like Helen Reddy. THANKYOU FOR SHAREING YOUR TALENT!!!
Love this song...but didn't Tanya Tucker sing it originally?
I don't know who her agent was, but he (or she) knew what songs would become the biggest hits for Helen Reddy.
Her manager during the 1970s and very early '80s was her second husband Jeff Wald. He usually did listen to the demo tapes first and then suggest to Helen which songs he thought would be hits.
@@keenahansel9104 Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it.
@@davidpanetta6400 you're welcome David. I don't know everything about Helen Reddy but I know a lot and I'm always happy to share my knowledge. I've been a huge fan and followed her since I was a preteen in the early '70s.
I am proud to be Australian, thank you Helen Reddy ❤
i remember helen reddy in the charts in the uk when i was 11 years old in 1974 great singer sadly missed RIP
Delta dawn was my favorite song when I was growing up in the70s it still is today.
My sister and I would sing it at the top of our lungs. Lol. The 70s were a heck of a lot of fun.
Long live Delta Dawn
the male bass singer in the background is underrated.
Oh for the music and sensible times of my youth!
I love this I was very small .. mama had her radio on and I would listen to every song playing. This one caught my little ears.
This and Angie Baby ❤... always loved them both... what a talent
❤❤❤
Buen gusto el suyo amigo 👍👍🤝✨🌞✨
“Delta Dawn” to me is most identifiable with Country Music legend Tanya Tucker. It’s amazing how it crossed over to become a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit for 70’s pop music queen Helen Reddy!!!
NASA should name their next rocket 🚀 Delta Dawn 🌝
100% Agreed!
Good on you ,Helen, just doesn’t matter what you have been doing in America,we love you back anyway.
Well, that made my day.
I feel 50 years younger.
(But I'm glad I'm not.) 🤠
The most famous voice.thati have ever heard. In the history of song. Just what I feel
Helen has a great voice and of course you also have Karen Carpenter.
Rest in paradise Helen reddy
HR One of the best female Singers
I find it interesting that Hellen Reddy was born and raised in Australia, but she sings with an almost Southern American accent!
I have a friend who is from Queensland and her accent fits in well with the locals in Downeast, NC.
Style is important. I don't think Kylie Minogue or Olivia Newton John sound particularly Aussie.
Just like how British singers sound American when they sing
She was a phoney. An Australian woman mimicking an American. Never had an original song. Sang hits written by men but presented to the public as a feminist. Had hits but zero legacy.
For starters, her name is Helen. If you want to diss someone, spell their name right.
One of a kind!! Amazing talent ! So grateful I got to see her live.
I loved her music. And she was very beautiful. The music from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and most of the 80s were great. After that, most of the music changed and not for the better.
Me too !
Me too in 1980 Hong Kong Regent
Hotel!
Tanya Tucker's version , I like better. Helen Reddy did a good job.
She was one of my favorites when I was in college. I also enjoy her in Pete's Dragon, an underrated Disney movie.
Yes Me Too Helen Reddy and Karen carpenter,Carole king OH The Memories.
Ive never heard this version before and i love it ❤
Her version is the best
Que bueno eran los espectáculos de esa época, naturales , sobrios , dignos de verdaderos músicos 👍🤝👍🌞✨
Very good ,a lot of expression , and attitude
I would have loved to see Hellen Reddy sing this song this is one of my favorites the other is I am woman you rock Hellen ❤❤❤❤
I was eight and heard it on an old radio I somehow found after my grandfather died. Loved this song from that day.
Original Song was,
Released in June, 1973
Who wrote it? Please 🙂
Too bad this is the studio version synced over the live video. I would've preferred to hear the actual live take of this!!
My mother used to sing this … could hear her in my parents’ bedroom when we were little…. usually when they were going out and we had the babysitter. Sounded just like this 👆🎉🥰
WOW 😊😊😊😊😊
Love her ❤
I wonder, did Angie Baby, Ruby Red Dress & Delta Dawn all know each other?
Blessed be her memory!
She was interviewed by Delores Cannons radio show. Helen also studies and practised hypnosis l.
Lip sync crap! Would appreciate just live clip from her.
I love the song that Ms hellen reddy singing ❤
Probably took singing lessons from Ken Tamplin
I like this version much better than Tanya Tucker's
What talent !
bridesmaid with a flower in hair,
never the bride with a the bonquet
Tanya Tucker is 1000 times better.
Tanya Tucker has a much more convincing delta accent.
Yes Yes Yes ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉Rest in Power Ms Helen Reddy. 🎉🎉🎉
Flippin awesome I was 10 in 74 😂❤😂❤

Much better than the Tanya Tucker version.

賑やかな良い曲ですね。僕は大好きです。
Great production values on this performance; all the way around....
Great piano playing.
Love love this song
❤❤❤
Hmmm... Was this song written about me?😂
RIP HR.Mummy used to sing this 💜
Nice, but Ray conniff is the best rendition
Olivia was my everything. She had a voice like an angel.
Loved her m
Usic
Bette Midler's version of the song is electric ...
In my opinion Barbara ray did a great version up there with the best if not better
As was common back in these times, this is not a live performance. It's the studio recording that they lip synced to.
Really the crowd was hard on her
Beautiful
❤
Fantastic - I watched the film on her life story. It made me support women's equality
Need to get her played on radio 2 - I will look at their site later
I have contacted radio 2 - Sara Cox - all request Friday for I am Woman to be played.
Shame after her career was done she said she wants nothing to do with the memories or her american fans.
Ungrateful but I syill love her music
I didn't know she said that, but I never was a fan, anyway. I thought Tanya Tucker sang this song better.
Is that right? I can believe it. I always thought she was a horrible showbiz person. Do anything to make sure it. She bagged Australians too. Whatever got attention for horrible hell on.
