This game has vibes of so many others. The initial premise (single dad and his daughter move to a new town) is basically Dream Daddy. The music, the collecting, and just the feel of walking around the world are reminding me of Chicory. And the mysterious, faintly menacing plot that's developing is really similar to Beacon Pines. We even have our own Rolo! Speaking of Beacon Pines, I notice that Carrie's voice for Mineko has been drifting closer and closer to Beck as the episode goes on. If this is the new Sunday series, I'm totally on board!
You know what I really like in these cuter let's plays you guys do? Dan always sounds like he is talking to a little kid in a playful manner and it is adorable.
This game is so dang adorable! And honestly Dan, one of my most favorite bits you do is the moving away from the mic when voicing a character offscreen, it makes me laugh every time 😂 looking forward to seeing more!
the thing dangling on the rearview mirror is, I believe a teruteru bozu, a good luck charm meant to prevent bad weather, usually rain. or, I guess, a teruteru neko, heh. a Good Weather Cat.
This is so cute, I love the art style. I'm glad you're playing some more so I can see a bit more and decide if I want to play the game myself. Love the thumbnail art too, Dan Jones did a great job with it.
The Giant Cat is clearly supernatural, and the guys in suits are clearly SCP agents attempting to find and contain it. I declare this game to exist inside the SCP universe.
The clear comparison for me is Wildbow's Otherverse. (It's second installment, _Pale,_ just ended, and it comes highly recommended!) Of course, now I need to check and see which of the magical creatures can lie.
0:30-0:50: So it's like Silksong, except for Dan and Carrie instead of Dan and Dan. 25:55: So this is the village *after* the cat population suffered a mysterious decline? How many cats were there before?? 40:45: At least she's not trying to recruit every new kid to the Night Market. 46:25: And at least _that_ capitalistic abomination hasn't worked its tendrils into the Night Market. 3:25: "Does it start before ten, or will I have to sneak out?" 7:20: Oh no! The photo! ...also the kid carrying the photo. But kids usually dry out without long-term damage. 11:10: I like this kid. 14:25: This dad, less so. 20:00: Why are you calling your kid "wormburger"? 38:00: What is wrong with this dad??? 39:20: *How do you do that on accident?!?*
I just want to take a moment to just aprecuate how well written, amd compassionate the dad is. He almost feels like hes in a different game compared to the townsfolk, and agents.
21:43 video game logic tells me Bobo's mom was dead, and we just resurrected her by giving her flowers, which proves that flowers are healing magic in this game.
Aw, I love the artstyle...and the music...and the cats...Everything about this game is so cute and nice! Also it makes my little weeb heart very happy. I think the cryptid hunter kid is actually wearing a kappa hat! If so, it's such a good detail. Always up for Dan and Carrie's comfort videos
This game is VERY Japanese, in all the best ways! That mailbox is a fairly traditional design for Japanese towns! If it weren't for the fact that they're about the height of a person, I expect they'd get mistaken for fire hydrants more often! 😂
11:16 So this isn't Hinamizawa? 14:45 idk, I kinda like it. 16:48 Well, that guarantees *someone* is going to die. 17:48 See, now I'm really getting Hinamizawa vibes... 24:32 Okay, now I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Or cicadas. This feels too much like HInamizawa now. 33:08 I'd actually bet the opposite. Just with the amount of cats. 34:46 Can always check the item description and figure if they know what a hairball is or not. 46:45 I wasn't, because that's not a duck, it's a Kappa.
Idk why I never really watched y'all's videos yet, even though I've been subbed for ages since I watched db4h once! I've been playing this game, so I knew it would be a fun, calm video to have on tonight as I pack up my childhood room. 😊 Oh, and y'all had me at the music man reference 😂
This video has rekindled my hankering for three things: 1. An update video about Dan and Carrie's kitties (because kitties). 2. An order of the chicken gizzards from the Indian family who runs the Shell by my parents' favorite Sav-A-Lot to shop at (because small town charms and such). 3. Ramune (because ramune).
You know, telling Mineko to get to work finding and crafting stuff for the Night Market might make more sense if she was a college-age kid or a recent graduate. Running around to gather resources and turning those resources into something you can sell is a weird thing for a kid to do in their spare time, but it beats a part-time food service job for barely above minimum wage.
I have no idea what this game is about, but the thumbnail art was so gosh darn adorable that I just have to watch it.
16:00 I love that Carrie's doing her "mom voice" again, without missing a beat.
Dan and Carrie gaming together is a great start to my Sunday mornings.
Oooooh my goooooood the thumbnail
Kudos to Dan Jones once again!

I've never felt so old as when I saw a Polaroid being described as a mysterious artefact.
Aww, I already love the dynamic between Mineko and her dad so much!

I really love the dialog between Mineko and Bobo. I mean all of it but especially those two, it’s really well done and feels so natural
I love that Mineko's design is reminiscent of the original Animal Crossing. Gotta love the pointy hats.
*sings* 'That starts with T, that rhymes with P. And that stands for Pool!' I got that reference! (from the musical 'Music Man')
yeeesssssss, more opportunity for Carrie to get her Mom-Voice out!
This is so cute, I love the art style. I'm glad you're playing some more so I can see a bit more and decide if I want to play the game myself.

I am already in love with this music.
46:55 this, Dan, is not a duck. It is a Kappa, and they're very cute. Or terrifying. Depending on the artist xD
Any game that allows Carrie's Minnesota mom voice to be used is a good game
The artstyle gives me major Carto vibes.
21:43 video game logic tells me Bobo's mom was dead, and we just resurrected her by giving her flowers, which proves that flowers are healing magic in this game.
The art work is gorgeous... so cute
The signs all seem to say KIT and XD in Morse code. Idk what 'kit' means (kit-cat? 'Cause there's cats?) but it's neat!
Carrie's Minnesotan mom voice is great (not least because it actually sounds like a Minnesotan accent- it's all in the o's!)
She's so good at it. I still remember the mom from Night In The Woods.
The voice for Bobo‘s mom matches her very well
I keep expecting the song of the inside of the house to turn into the theme of Final Fantasy X.
To be fair there are a number of stories where the parent of the hero is named "[Hero's] Mom/Dad."
More adorable thumbnail art! 😊
15:29 I don't know. It sounds properly clandestine - like magical adventures and organized crime ought to be!
dad let the small child handle unboxing...the large furniture, which isn't something that typically gets boxed up.
Aw, I love the artstyle...and the music...and the cats...Everything about this game is so cute and nice! Also it makes my little weeb heart very happy.

Koi Fish landlord is a great concept.
I geuss the kiwi went back on Vacation
I'm so excited for this game! It looks so cute.
been watching your channel for a while now
4:46 - ah, a fellow Pastafarian!

So Bobo’s Mom’s son would be Bobo Mom?
i have such a Vtuber brainrot i keep reading this game's name as "Mikeneko's Night Market"
Glad I'm not the only one!

💙
I think I need to get my fiancé this game... Seems like something she'd be into. XD
Is niko and nikko based on something?
