    the craziest thing about Joey's drumming.
    when most drummers do wicked fast double bass they normally use one of either heel-toe or swivel technique to make it easier on their legs.
    But Joey would just pump his legs as fast as he could and basically stomp on the pedals until they either broke or he finished the song.

    • @FlyboyHelosim
      @FlyboyHelosim 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Unfortunately that technique may have contributed to his decline, not to mention his shorter or more inconsistent double-bass sections sometimes when performing live.

    • @felipegiraldo8100
      @felipegiraldo8100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Congratulations to him, thats how he ended up fucking up his leg articulations by 2009... i respect him fo what he did as a drummer but tecnique and consistency are key in a band career. i like much more extreme drummers that play crazier with proper techniques

      @@GangGreen80 Joey was also a founding member and main songwriter. It was his band just as much as it was Paul and Shawn's band. No offense to the newer guys in the band but they are replacements and that's it, it's not their band and it's not the same. The new guys all joined Slipknot when the band was already successful and popular, and they will never be as hungry or motivated as the original band. It all feels a bit contrived now.

    • @kwantoon
      @kwantoon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@isopropyltoxicity Joey was one of the few celebrity musicians I felt a connection to, he was a very talented musician and no one had more heart than Joey. Joey was a phenomenal drummer in every way, but Jay is a great drummer in his own right. It's really not fair to Jay that he is always compared to Joey, that guy works his ass off and he can play. Joey was a driving force in making Slipknot who they are, but Jay deserves credit as well. Filling Joey's shoes was not an easy thing to do, and I think he's doing a damn fine job.

    Imo joey and Paul were heart and soul of the band Joey the most talented. You can tell dude loved it and slipknot was his baby. I watched when he won the golden god award after he parted with knot that he wanted nothing more to return.

      They definitely were. Without either of them it just feels contrived now.

    Next Slipknot song has to be Custer. Listener aggression is advised.

    This song is the best song on this album, there is no doubt in my mind. This album has a lot of good songs, but this was the heaviest, it was the most raw, it has the best progression that doesn't rely on hooks and choruses and more resembles modern metalcore than anything they've ever released.
    Great reaction though! Glad you enjoyed it!

    This song was my very first song I ever heard from them back in the day. I remember the hair on my arms standing straight up and getting goosebumps. This whole album was amazing.
    You have to listen to Surfacing!!
