National Film Awards 2024 // ISRO Launches EOS-08

The 70th National Film Awards were unveiled on Friday at the National Media Center in New Delhi, with the Malayalam film Aattam clinching the Best Feature Film title. Rishab Shetty was awarded Best Actor for his role in Kantara, while the Best Actress award was jointly shared by Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for The Kutch Express. Sooraj Barjatya received the Best Director award for his film Uunchai. Ponniyin Selvan I dominated with the most wins, while films like Fouja, KGF 2, Brahmastra, and Aparajito also took home multiple accolades. The awards were announced by Rahul Rawail, chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Nila Madhab Panda, chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury, and Gangadhar Mudalair, chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury.
On Friday, August 16, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the EOS-08 Earth Observation Satellite. The satellite was carried into orbit by the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV)-D3 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The SSLV-D3, in its third and final developmental mission, lifted off from the first launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 9:17 am.
