Broken Backflow Valve Repair - Install New Backflow Preventer Valves

After water got into the bottom of the backflow preventer during winter, the lower 1 inch valve split causing a much needed repair before the irrigation system could be used. The split was substantial and would have caused quite a leak from A spinkler system in summer can be useful. The options were to
1) completely replace the entire backflow preventer and its valves

2) as we did, simple replace the valves.

All we needed was a couple of wrenches ,
TFE Paste,
Harvey 23030 Oatey 0 Pipe Thread Compound, 4 Oz, Brush top Plastic Jar, Liquid Paste, 1/4 Pint, White

and Oatey Fusion pvc pipe cement.

The repair was sime by cutting the PVC pipe, unscrewing the valves from the housing of the anti-syphon backflow preventer and installing new 1 inch ball vavles.
We also added an air compressor hook-up in the pvc pipe to enable easy air compressor hook-up to aid in clean out and maintenance.
