    Celebrating 9 years of people making the same complaint comments about not using primer (not required with the red hot blue glue) and not securing the wood blocks down to better simulate the pipes being buried 🎉🎉🎉 hahaha oh man. Replying to the same comments over and over is always fun! Great helpful video thanks!

    When slipping the Slip Repair Coupling on, I glue and slip the coupling side first, then the threaded side because the bulk the threaded side gives you more to grip onto. The other way in reality is insanely frustrating when your down in a tight spot in the hole and can barely get a grip on it or have to use a wrench to grip it. Just slip them on, threaded bulky side last. Trust me. It's a LOT easier.

    I have tried both of them on my main water lines. Due to our high water pressure and cold winters, both of the failed and shot water high in the air one or two years later. They are fine for distribution lines, but not on the main line. The easiest and best fix is to file out the stop on a coupling and slide it over one pipe and then back over the second. I would recommend you cover this technique as it is cheap and takes the water pressure.

      @@lynnm.2405 true enough but in my case of a 4 in line, the repair pvc coupling is $16.73 while the rubber one is only $9.86 at lowes. So if I don't want to file anything why not just use the rubber one. the coupling with the stop is $4.96. and of course you might need two of these which doubles the savings/costs. I imagine similar relations will hold with smaller sizes.

    Very useful tips. Didn't hear you mention something the guy at the store told me and that's that the slip coupling has an "in" end and and an "out" because of the slip mechanism.Be sure to read the directions on the product and check the direction of the water flow before installing. (And as the link in the show notes says Christy's is an all in one primer/glue)

  • @SethPinnock

    To make it more realistic of the board should have been screwed into the table itself to simulate the fixed width of the pipe to show exactly how much clearance and technique needed to actually get the pipes fitted. Sorry but this is just a 5/10 forme

    Securing those pipes to the blocks of easily moveable wood was pointless. You should have screwed or hot glued them to the table if you really wanted to simulate a pipe you can't move.
    Other than that, good example of how to install these (Except for not using primer on the pipes).

    • @Everythinghometv
      @Everythinghometv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess you’ve never actually read the label on Red Hot Blue Glue. From the label, “Red Hot Blue Glue® does not require the use of a primer, unless specified by local code.” But thanks for the pointers I will try much harder next time 👍🏼

    • @sovrgnman
      @sovrgnman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Everythinghometv it also is relevant to the water pressure on the line, and the pipe size. For a low pressure system, no primer is "ok". But why skip it if it's required in the strictest applications? I'm no fan of the red hot glue in any water pressures over 30 psi. Slow set is best, I have found. But it does spec a longer wait time 😬, not always a great option.

    • @philosopher8358

      George Roberts You want to make sure that it expands outward in the direction of the flow of water, so it doesn't have a chance to press back into the fitting. Usually the long tip section with the added small coupler attached to the longer portion will go on the end, in direction of flow of water, or outward from the water source. Hope this helps. 😁
